The entrance to the dreadnaught felt more like dropping into a war in progress than neomuna ever did. Watching the cabal and hive battle it out only for the Primus to be taken right in front of us was awesome. Also, how many other Cabal have we met that are on that same level as that guy? Ghaul, Caiatl, Calus, all them were technically above that Primus in rank but still, at that time he was one of the most high ranking cabal we had ever seen and Oryx just... Took him, in one moment. So much cooler of a moment than that Tormentor jumpscare in lightfall lmao.
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THIS ever since I saw Oryx's Corpse I've been wondering what's been going on with the Dreadnought I'm surprised that the Lucent Hive haven't claimed it or at the very least even moved it and Savathun's own vessel by now
@Banana-Boi I wish I could send pictures on TH-cam because I kid you not, that shit is just gone. I can't tell if it's one of Oryx's fleets ships but we do see something that looks like the Dreadnaught in the deep dive activity the one with the celebert
Maybe no one is able to command it because it responded to Oryx alone so it's essentially dead in space and just floating there? I figured at most, it was just securing potential threats within it, like it's power core to prevent it from being destroyed.
that is possible since it was basically his Thorne world so it most likely bent ot his will only meaning if xivu did try ot reclaim it it'd be a massive paper weight adn does nothing
@@vernaltear Yeah, without the two Deathsingers to give it any FTL capabilities it's not especially useful in the hands of anyone that isn't Oryx, and since he's dead it's basically just a giant lump of hive gunk floating in space that, at worst, could slow-burn toward something as a kinetic kill vehicle but that's already a done plot-line in Destiny.
@@S3Cs4uN8 Well, the Cabal tried to detonate it already since an explosion from that ship would wipe out the entire solar system, but I suppose Bungie could take the lazy route and make that a threat again.
@@tarantularancher5748 The reason I think the Worm Gods would make a pact with Toland in the future, is because us killing the Witness, revealing the truth to the Hive of it’s deception, Savathun’s defection from them, and us killing the Hive Gods (Savvy’s bound to die in the future), could make the Worms question how they execute their Sword Logic. They’d still practice it, just think from another perspective. Thus, they would choose the Hive-obsessed, mad Warlock, Toland. Maybe he does take over Xivu or Oryx’s Throneworld? The Worms are impressed, and choose them as a new Hive God. They’d must’ve seen the potential in Eris, she was the most powerful Hive God for a very short time. They’d probably even feared Eris, she could’ve killed the Worm Gods, and the rest of the Hive to exterminate them all, ending with Xivu. Making Eris, the last living Hive. Him taking one of, or maybe even both, vacant Throneworlds, could convince the Worms that they must change their approach, they all confirm, and Toland is brought back into flesh. Remade, as Toland, Hive God of Chaos. There has been much chaos in the universe, and especially Sol, since the Witness, and the Collapse. Plus, with Xivu and Savathun dead, the Worms would look to create replacements to the three siblings, as without the Hive Gods, the Worms would be defenseless against the Guardians’ slaughter.
Man seeing this D1 gameplay makes me so nostalgic. Spent many many hours just running around exploring different areas of the the Dreadnaught. Good times. Would love to see it come back in D2.
I think a fantastic story thread would be if you had Nokris try to claim the Dreadnought as a means of claiming his father's throne and legacy as the next Taken King, with Savathun and Xivu Arath trying to contest his claim. Then you could actually explore Nokris' character and his relationship with his deceased father.
I thought Nokris met his end against the Guardians on Mars? Or was his death an illusion? And he plans to come back using necromancy as he waits in the Ascendent Plane for the power vacuum to appear?
@@garrettviewegh9028 Nokris isn't like normal Hive. His pact with Xol (who has his heart) and his necromancy allowed him to resurrect himself after he was killed during the Warmind campaign. However because necromancy goes against the principles of the sword logic he has been unable to create his own throne world. He tried to subvert that limitation by having us kill him and allowing his own death to be the tribute needed to create himself a throne world. However Savathun caught onto this clever trickery and instead brought him into her own throne world where they made a pact. Nokris would teach Savathun his necromancy and pledge his loyalty to her and she would give him "insight into the dreaming mind's talent" (the dreaming mind is the taken Vex Mind Quoria Blade Transformed). He then acted as Savathun's instrument of interference during the season of Arrivals to prevent us from communing with the Pyramids. At the end of the season we fought and killed him in the Ascendant space and it was presumed that he would stay dead. Some will argue that this is the end of his story but I say we can't be certain because Nokris is a Necromancer, he wasn't killed in his own throne world (if he was even successful in creating his own throne world with Savathun's interference), and Xol the worm god who has Nokris' heart technically still lives on as the Whisper of the Worm Exotic sniper rifle. Plus we have to find out if Nokris got what he had bargained for and what he planned on doing with that knowledge. Also Nokris as a character has been done a great disservice. The outcast son of Oryx who was hinted at in Destiny One doesn't deserve to die as a mere strike boss or even as a pawn of the Witch Queen.
You are also forgetting something; we've seen his name recently tied to the Lucent Brood, as they tried to resurrect Oryx as a Risen. I'll stand by the fact i think this was Nokris moving in the background; the absolute hate he must have for his father and how fucking delicious reviving his father as a thrall, in the powers of the sky, drip with machinations of that of a necromancer. @@ivegonefishing482
I always figured that - as Oryx's throne world - the Dreadnaught's power would be extremely diminished after his maker's death. Perhaps it's mostly a husk now. Sure, filled with hundreds of thousands of Hive, but in essence inert. I don't know if Xivu could simply take it over since it's not of her making. Maybe Bungie sees it that way, which is why it's been left alone for years now.
I wish we had strikes on Pyramid Ships/key points of interest. The Witness is inside the Traveler and the rest of the Pyramid Fleet is just sitting inside Sol doing nothing. We should be launching offensives on these ships to cripple the enemy, but instead we're sitting idly by doing nothing. Same thing with the Dreadnaught! It's just sitting there doing nothing when we, the Vanguard, should be actively working to secure it so it doesn't fall into enemy hands.
I feel like, we may get an episode in the future, that explores the storyline of the Coalition routing the Witness’ remaining forces and ships out of Sol. Some loyalists may be tries, executed, or simply imprisoned. But, as for how that story plays out, the big plot points would be: how we destroy the pyramids, as assaults would take too long, and certain enemies could utilize them after the war to attack us. Destroying the pyramids, and how that happens. Finally, the last plot point would be, how the Coalition deals with the fleeing Witness forces. After we’ve destroyed the Shadow legion and Pyramid fleets, we have the option to run them all out of Sol, or kill most and imprison the few. It could take years to trial them all for their crimes. I think we’ll find a way to simultaneously destroy the Pyramid and Shadow fleets. Maybe through a strike or raid.
For sure. We even have lore from Cenotaph Mask saying that the pyramids are still active and have life signatures in em. Huge waste to not plunder at least one pyramid.
Considering the current state of the sol system in the aftermath of the event of final shape, imagine seeing the now coalition of humanity, elixni, and cabal (not to mention savathune) using the dreadnought, as with savathune on our side, we technically could fully utilize it
One thing I still find really scary: The Hive Hunter Guardian we fight in the final boss room? He was already revived from the light but we crushed his Ghost. Meaning that he got brought back by Resurrection. This Ritual probably would have worked if it weren't for us
I love the Dreadnought as both a location and part of the lore. It would be pretty cool to have some kind of narrative event tied to securing it and keeping it from the claws of the Hive.
@@MynameisByf what about us considering that we, or specifically veterans of the taken war has the willbreaker? sure, it was converted into the three exotic swords, but some of their original functions should remain!
There is lore (Immolant Part 2) that confirms the status of the Dreadnaught as damaged beyond repair, with Akka dying, connections failing, systems fading. 'The Dreadnaught’s systems present as living memory -chronicles and hymns recounting histories. It is a rat king of fading ideas, wracked with failing connections and dying interpretations as Akka suffers a slow, final death, damaged beyond repair.'
ok but that is what warmind era.think of all the paracausal things at play now the witness, the light used by the hive. stuff like deepsight can easily fix a beyond repair dreadnot
@@frankiebigrings7048 iirc Immolant Parts 1 and 2 came out just before Beyond Light released, it's not exactly old news. In any case with Oryx's Throne World collapsed after his death there isn't really a whole lot you can do to fix the dreadnaught. Not to mention the ships lack of any actual FTL mechanism without its two Deathsingers.
It's kind of amazing how the loss of Sagira has impacted humanity as a whole. It's inarguable she GREATLY enhanced the results Osiris would get, and working with her he was easily 10 times as effective. Her loss is a far bigger impact than most even realize. She was truly incredible.
True. Maybe, yes, Osiris may seem less effective without his partner. But, we still have Osiris. His Light wasn’t his only weapon, his only strength. His centuries of knowledge and experience are still a valuable asset to the Coalition. We’ve seen it recently in the writing and lore. Even other characters make note of how valuable his wisdom is. Teacher, negotiator, mediator, ambassador, mentor, scientist, scholar. These are roles that the Phoenix excells at. The Coalition would do well to utilize his wealth of knowledge for as long as he lives. Which, even then, is at least a few remaining centuries.
@@garrettviewegh9028 oh I'm not downplaying Osiris as all, in fact it's how great he is alone that makes us realize how much Sagira added to him though. Not even combat wise, Sagira herself was a treasure-trove of knowledge even Osiris had difficulties comprehending. She was also exceedingly proficient at hacking basically everything, even noted to be abnormal even amongst ghosts. She was easily Osiris' equal and superior in knowledge in a lot of fields. I would say even as wise, intelligent and proficient as he is in everything, that he lost roughly 45% of his total capability not including combat. To be honest since we got Saint back, him not being in combat wouldn't really matter since he could just focus on the stuff the smart guys do and Saint can just go Unga Bunga and make sure no one touches his man.
The Vanguard didn't learn. They left the Dreadnaught unsecured and luckily nothing has become of that. But when we left The Almighty alone, some Psions aimed it at Earth to obliterate the Last City. That incident should have prompted the Vanguard to immediately secure the Dreadnaught and leave behind a small detail to protect it, thus allowing Eris Morn and others to study it and learn.
Another possibility to consider: Cabal do not pull out of a battleground until their victory. And with the Hive destroying Torobatl, the contingent there may have become extra motivated to claim it. Add in the Empress setting up shop in Sol as well. Cabal love big weaponry, and the Dreadnought's strategic value would make it a prime theater to place the Ascendancy's attention on. Even if not her, former Red Legion, maybe the Psion Splinter, or the Shadow Legion could try to assert control of it in a bid for dominance. Or we patrol it between Crucible matches on Cathedral of Dusk. And it's just as unpopular in-universe as it is for the players because of that fact.
The cabal don’t, have never, and probably never will willingly dabble in hive magic If anything they hate it as shown in haunted as caiatle straight up refused eris’s help until she realized there was no other option
@@fenrir_Lokison9Byf: imagine the chaos that would result if the Hive reclaim the throne world of The Taken King! Bungie: sure kid, but it's really important that we make a season about all the canon romances first 😍
@@Lightnawell no not necessarily, she (Xivu) could do what we did with that shard and make a new Willbreaker and even gain any latent power that lies in the shard as we did.
@@Lightnasee Xivu is in a very precarious situation. She’s mortal and cut off from her power, but that also leaves her as an empty but very learned vessel. Now all she has to do is fill that vessel.
Since you asked, I agree. Xivu taking the dreadnought would be a perfect road to down. I remember that artwork from the light fall book, the dreadful image of the God of War, her billowing cape a closing pit of ever swallowing darkness, her own figure cast in the shadows of her relentless power. That was the God of War I wanted to see. But, if Xivu continues on as she is, she’ll be little more than a well designed knight. I want to see her take the dreadnought, I want to see her swollen with power when we come to face her. If not, I will be grossly disappointed.
Same, I want her to be a true big bad, something scarier than Oryx and Savathun. I want to actually see her and her court using battle tactics and actually securing areas in the EDZ and Cosmodrome and making us to fight to take it back. And then eventually taking the push to the Cabal home world with Cailtl and liberating their planet of the hive as well
@ImTheGibby Oryx was impending doom, and Savathun was never meant to be “scary”. She was always the most irritating (I love the character themselves, dont get me wrong) obstacle to every plan while holding her own schemes that could grant her victory. She makes others fear themselves and their comrades, she makes enemies tear themselves apart with either mind control or worry.
Man seeing the taken king footage brings back so many memories. I miss my fire team. Niel and Michigan, man I fucking miss those guys. Brought a damn tear to my eye typing it. So many taken king raids and bond brothers, lol damn those were some good years.. man I miss my fire team.
I love the hive environments and honestly I’d start playing destiny again if it meant I could fully explore the entirety of the dreadnought without having to be in an instance
I asked a friend about this and he was just like, we left it there. And I was like, should we be worried. He responded probably, but that a problem for another day
It's an ongoing trope of the Vanguard to leave vital assets and potential threats left in the wild. We had all the time in the world to get the Black Armory Forges to the City, but apparently, the Vanguard couldn't afford the manpower. Eramis was left frozen on Europa for about 2 years before the Witness woke her up. Could've just sent a team to blow her to bits, especially after Kridis tried waking her up. We could've had DO establish a foothold on the Almighty and start taking it apart for research and resources. There's been plenty of times when we just leave loose ends untied.
A neat strike bungie could make is basically us running through a skeleton of the kings fall raid, they have the location, nothing new,,but a strike where we have to go back into the dreadnaught raid, and take out some lucent give or wrathborn trying to retake the vessel
Incredible video! I hope bungie sees this and takes the avenue of having Xivu try to reclaim the Dreadnaught because, not only would lucent light-bearing hive vs. Xivu’s forces inside the ship be wicked, but I have been yearning for an incredible place to explore again like the Dreadnaught. It was legitimately creepy walking around the Dreadnaught
Thing is... Throne worlds decay once their creator is defeated. When we killed the Mindbender back in Forsaken, his Throne collapsed in under a minute. His Throne was fairly small, but this should still apply to other ascendant beings. But how quick is that collapse? We went back to Crota's Throne in TTK to steal his essence, and although the oversoul was gone the geometry of the place still seemed intact... (development logic, this might have been before thrones collapsing was a thing) We know that Thrones can change dramatically - Mara Sov's throne is Taken, broken beyond repair, although it still seems to perform it's function of keeping her immortal. Savathun's throne is an even messier situation, we don't know if the removal of her worm caused her to stop being Ascendant - Mara, Toland and the Mindbender didn't need worms to create and maintain their thrones, so if she was the Ascendant one then Immaru never needed to reforge her in light. But if her Worm was the ascendant being, then the fact that she's basically conquered her worm's throne is remarkably impressive. Especially as we have turned the owner of that throne into a gun. The symbiotic/parasitic nature of krill and worm makes this rather tangled. It fits that the worms would be ascendant rather than the hosts, and they just drag the hive along for the ride, since the deal between them was always one-sided. So, back to Oryx's throne. It should be decaying. It should be dissolving back into the Sea of Screams like it was never there - this may be why it's called derelict all the time. During King's Fall, we shoot into Oryx's chest, hitting him in the Worm - both the King and the Parasite died that day. So the real question is why is it still there? My personal theory is that the Narthex, the power source of the Dreadnought the Bond Brothers were hoping to destroy, is the lock and key holding the Dreadnought and Throne together. We know the Dreadnought can be damaged, as the Cabal were able to break it's outer hull when they crashed their ship into it. Perhaps the Ascendant part of the ship will fade away and only the physical shell will remain? It looks from gameplay like there is some difference between the physical and ascendent spaces of the Dreadnought - the raid starts with activating the Court of Oryx and going through an ascendant portal to areas you can't access on patrol, that begin to get a bit weird, like the ship jumping puzzle - you can see stars to either side of that hall, it's a weird bit of architecture. Presumably all that ascendant space will be inaccessible? Oryx appeared to command the ship from a physical space, but beyond making it move, perhaps most of the higher functions of the ship have simply faded away...?
This whole video was fantastic, but seeing the Shield Brothers strike again was pure nostalgia. Oh, and the Trials scout. But, what I really want to say is that I have always felt the same. I also feel the same way about the Leviathan. The secrets and knowledge we could extract from these abandoned vessels is astounding. Why we never did this is still perplexing.
Man I really missed the Hive arc, and exploring the Dreadnaught. That was peak Destiny. The Dreadnaught was my favorite map. It should have been 3-5 times larger though!
Man this video posed an awful lot of questions that have direct existing answers Xivu was already on the dreadnaught/ has claimed it. (theres a lore tab in Deep where she chats with the witness). We destroyed the main weapon on the dreadnaught. That was like the first thing we did in the taken king storyline. Repairing it is likely off the table as the dreadnaught is dying (in Immolant pt. 2 when osiris is boarding the place) speculation here, but this decay of the dreadnaught is likely due to oryxs death. Death of ascendant hive causes a throne to collapse, eventually. The older the hive the longer this seems to take We do know how the weapon works, its oryx expanding his throne into reality temporarily. (Book of sorrow, where the eversion of the dreadnaught is detailed) This is referred to as an eversion breach in the dreadnaught grimoire card, and is connected to other taken portals, so thats how it can be used to take. No oryx, no control over the throne. Xivu cant control her throne since banishment. The weapon is pernamently disabled. The last thing is the core detonation being a system killer. Why in the name of god would xivu detonate it when the witness needs the traveller conscious to 1. Find the veil 2. Link the veil and now 3. Be inside the traveller. Thats assuming the core isnt also diminishing based on what was said in immolant pt 2. As for why we dont hold it outselves, keep in mind the dreadnaught is the size of the moon, and riddled with hive. To completey secure it would require a herculean effort, and we cant hold even a medium sized city without an incursion every 6-9 months. So its a site of limited use to our enemies (that xivu is already sat on, fuffilling the "legitimacy" point. Though i dont know what sitting on the site of your civilisations greatest defeat does for morale, but you do you). Osiris was able to breach it and interface with it fairly handily, no different from any other guardian mission. Would we not be better off securing the moon? Hell, securing earth? There are 100 higher priorities than the limping megastructure thats slowly disintegrating
I do believe that we could be going back to the Dreadnaught to deal with Xivu Arath could be as soon as later this year. One of the episodes post Final Shape have a Hive theme to it if i remember right.
if I recall, there was a lore book about when Osiris entering the Dreadnaught where he says that most of the hive worms were dying in the hallways, may have been between season of arrival and of the hunt
i seem to recall that first mission on the dreadnought where we narrowly escape the superweapon, our guardians did 'disable' the superweapon as one of our first objectives and priorities. This was a physical, technical process. In theory, it shouldn't take more than xivu doing a couple crewmate tasks to repair the dreadnaught's superweapon.
My Name Is Byf, you are the (*In My Opinion*) the best Destiny 1/2 Lore TH-camr of all time, please keep it up as your videos are the reason I know a lot about Destiny lore!
I may be wrong, but wasn’t Saint-14 killing Savathun in her throne world forcing Immaru to resurrect her again and again? It’s from one of the lore tabs from Season of the Witch.
this might be what they do with episode (1?) heresy, the core thing might be gaining a foothold and then pushing Xivu's brood or lucent hive out, the scattering of the scorn that will probably happen post final shape that we already saw with warlord's could see a them wanting to take the dreadnaught for themselves to give themselves a foothold that has access to the ascendant plane, this could get the mindbender back into the game and his play could be trying to get the barons back. we could have some weird feelings of "hey these guys aren't just zombies, they think like the Eliksni or anyone else, is it moral to keep fighting them or should we try talking?" which could lead to some characters not forgiving them for Cayde's death, those feeling drudged up by his ghost in TFS and other characters realizing that they need their allies in a time of uncertainty.
15:05 Im sure there are those who crave new content, but i personally spent probably far too many hours roaming the halls and buggy walls of the dreadnaught.. and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It was such a beatiful and unique location.
Xivu could easily use the Dreadnugaht as a powerful flagship for her armada. She may no longer be immortal, but if Torrobaital is where she chooses to make her final stand, we’ll have countless Hive, War Moons, Tombships, other ships, and the Dreadnuaght to deal with. Which would make matters worse. It was already hard for us to infiltrate, let alone make a beach head to transmat onto. But, Toland could step in after we’ve permanently killed Xivu (and Oryx) taking every precaution to ensure they don’t come back, and take the Dreadnuaght. We know it can’t be destroyed either.
Wasn’t there a lore entry in season of the witch were Xivu Arath communicated with the witness from the dreadnaught? 🤔 Edit: season of the deep, purpose, part VI Conviction.
I would like to think that after final shape is done, and we kill the witness, in one of the following episodes where we center on the hive, the dreadnought will take up a similar role to what the leviathan was in Season of the haunted. A location we can go to during the season, where the story will focus on for the time, and once it’s done bungie could remove it from the game if they so desire
I think the implacation is that only Oryx could move/use the dreadnought. It IS his throne world and he is the Navigator. So to the hive it might just be another moon they have a presence on, most of the tech unable to be used with Oryx's death
Actually it is stated to be derelict by the time of SotH, and Xivu was briefly on the Dreadnaught, this shows that there isn’t much to use from it apart from some ritual materials, the only thing that would be relevant is that is the core, but it is usable besides blowing it up, and bits of tech which is only for communication, the only thing relavent is the throne world and that is gone on Oryx’s death. Plus we have the map for it still for crucible, so we still run matches, it is far from lost if it is still valuable. The only thing of value was from what the Fallen discovered and us recovered them from the Vex in a Festival of the Lost.
Xivu retaking the Dreadnaught is almost like how the black terrace works (or at least my understanding of it). Of course it’s not her throne world so that part doesn’t apply, but it’s still a incredibly strong ship that she could use to move troops to any locations she might feel the need to assult
I have always understood the super weapon in the dreadnaught required oryx's sword to activate it. With it broken into so many different pieces I don't think it could ever be used to activate it again.
Bungie said that Into the Light will feature content that hasn't been revisited in a while. Consideringthat this si most likely content meant for Final Shape or the episodes afterwards and one of those episodes is about the Hive, we very well might get some story at least connected to the Dreadnought. Maybe, with the Witness out of the picture, the Vanguard would be able to direct their attention to that Damocles sword that is the Dreadnought.
What blows my mind is that there were files referring to it before the Raid was confirmed. I thought for sure we’d get through whole location and the fragments to hunt again or something along with the raid, same for Venus by now. Ishtar Academy was so under explored and there has to be a ton of Vex knowledge there
The dreadnaught is technically boarded in Ghost of the Deep. It's under the oceans of titan. Along with Oryx's corpse close to it. Likely why it's there was the gravitational pull of the pyramid ship on Titan when it went dark likely pulled it and Oryx's corpse there.???
I would love to see an expansion that takes us back to the dreadnought to explore its deepest secrets. It could involve a turf war between savathun and xivu with us being begrudgingly helping savathun in order to deny xivu some hidden power within.
late to the party but what a good set up for a raid or dungeon with short questline! have either eris/ikora send you in to secure it for. imbestigation amd containment or zavala send you in to clear it for transport. big bad arrives and aends you hurtling out of it as they take off. raid/dungeon is the recclamation of the ship
I really enjoyed the lore and the way you put the video together and it got me thinking, what if the traveller and guardians researched hive technology and found a way for guardians to have there own throne world so we could have in game housing/base mechanics that you and friends could build, expand and progress with materials and would give more options for people to spend glimmer and legendary shards like in other mmorpg games. Just a thought 😊
The Dreadnaut's weapon reminds me a lot of The Empire's weapon on one of their ships commanded by General Grevious. It was an episode from the Clone Wars cartoon.
Couple of points here. #1... the Dreadnaught is HUGE. It's been calculated that its diameter is the equivalent of Earth's moon. You don't need to blow it up, or even fire its weapon.. You need to nudge it in Earth's direction and unlike the Almighty it would end everything on Earth if it fell into it so it is definitely the biggest mobile blunt force instrument in the system outside of any of its regular array of tricks. #2... we (somewhat) recently started "going back" there for crucible matches which means that A. we are either there ourselves or B. if this is just a representation of it in one of Shaxx's "holodecks" it has to have been scoped out and catalogued by his Redjacks meaning there should be somewhat of an active force there or has been recently. #3... I don't think anyone will mind seeing the Dreadnaught return to the Destiny universe as a playable location. I routinely pop into D1 to play and I can tell you most players are either in the tower, the dreadnaught or the plaguelands. I welcome its return both for lore and gameplay.
This is probably an unpopular opinion but, I would not mind seeing some of the Destiny 1 locations brought into D2 if they were apart of free updates like Cosmo was.
@10:17 in this video you can see two Hive ships that aren't the dreadnought in the background as well as plenty of ship to ship fire still happening in the space over Saturn. This is when Oryx goes to activate his weapon in retaliation to the Harbingers, wouldn't that mean that Mara Sov clearly did not destroy Oryx's entire fleet?
This could work really well in my idea of Kelgorath taking over the hive as the new Taken King and shunning the old 3 hive gods. Either taking the dreadnought for himself or destroying at a sign of a new era for the Hive
Might be too big, but still you would probably be hurting the traveler and the light by doing so let alone probably killing the main character as well (if we’re the one that sets it off)

THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THIS
ever since I saw Oryx's Corpse I've been wondering what's been going on with the Dreadnought
I'm surprised that the Lucent Hive haven't claimed it or at the very least even moved it and Savathun's own vessel by now
Something i notice is that in the Decend mission the drednaught and almost a fragment of Saturn's ring is just.... gone. Dreadnaught with it.
I've been thinking about this since D2 release when I saw the dreadnaught from titan.
@@dropkick3024 You're probably seeing a shadow. I remember it looking like that at times when Titan existed as a destination.
Savathun has hers over mars
That was my thought at the time, that, since Oryx was fully destroyed, the Dreadnaught became simply a shell
Nobody commands it because you need both two Deathsingers who are capable of cleaving and sewing space back together and Oryx’s power of Taking.
Toland after the Worm Gods makes a pact with him as he takes the Dreadnuaght: “It’s free real estate”.
-Toland the Shattered, Hive God of Chaos.
“Nothing will deter me. None of you can stop me. Not anymore. I waive the inspection. I offer 25% over asking.” - Toland the Remorseful Buyer
Hive got of schizo posting and frantic ramblings
The outcast son of Oryx who was hinted at in Destiny One doesn't deserve to die as a mere strike boss or even as a pawn of the Witch Queen.
seeing as the episode is called "herecy", having the disowned son who defies sword logic be the prominent character makes sense
Considering the current state of the sol system in the aftermath of the event of final shape, imagine seeing the now coalition of humanity, elixni, and cabal (not to mention savathune) using the dreadnought, as with savathune on our side, we technically could fully utilize it
One thing I still find really scary:
The Hive Hunter Guardian we fight in the final boss room? He was already revived from the light but we crushed his Ghost. Meaning that he got brought back by Resurrection. This Ritual probably would have worked if it weren't for us

I love the Dreadnought as both a location and part of the lore. It would be pretty cool to have some kind of narrative event tied to securing it and keeping it from the claws of the Hive.
With Kelgorath having a shard of Willbreaker, I wonder if he could activate the weapon on the Dreadnaught?
Maybe that's what she's doing with him. Making him into a key.
Possibly. We did disable the weapon back in Destiny 1. He would have to find a way to reenable them.

@My name is Byf : This needs to be pinned dog, this explains everything.
so since the dreadnaught is falling apart doesn't that mean it's reactor core is melting down and is slowly turning into a bomb?
@@evil80 Maybe, equal chance it'd just fizzle out and fall apart.
The cabal don’t, have never, and probably never will willingly dabble in hive magic
If anything they hate it as shown in haunted as caiatle straight up refused eris’s help until she realized there was no other option
If you go to the titan map in gambit and look up at satern, you can see the dreadnaught still sitting there in that empty space in Saturns rings

If not, I will be grossly disappointed.
Same, I want her to be a true big bad, something scarier than Oryx and Savathun. I want to actually see her and her court using battle tactics and actually securing areas in the EDZ and Cosmodrome and making us to fight to take it back. And then eventually taking the push to the Cabal home world with Cailtl and liberating their planet of the hive as well
Nobody can fully use the Dreadnaught anymore, and even if they could, it’s damaged beyond repair and slowly falling apart.
@ImTheGibby
Oryx was impending doom, and Savathun was never meant to be “scary”. She was always the most irritating (I love the character themselves, dont get me wrong) obstacle to every plan while holding her own schemes that could grant her victory. She makes others fear themselves and their comrades, she makes enemies tear themselves apart with either mind control or worry.

(development logic, this might have been before thrones collapsing was a thing)
We know that Thrones can change dramatically - Mara Sov's throne is Taken, broken beyond repair, although it still seems to perform it's function of keeping her immortal.
Oryx appeared to command the ship from a physical space, but beyond making it move, perhaps most of the higher functions of the ship have simply faded away...?
i look it up a week ago and found nothing on it so glad your covering it
damn this aged pretty well, byf foreseeing new content 6 months in advance :D
This whole video was fantastic, but seeing the Shield Brothers strike again was pure nostalgia. Oh, and the Trials scout. But, what I really want to say is that I have always felt the same. I also feel the same way about the Leviathan. The secrets and knowledge we could extract from these abandoned vessels is astounding. Why we never did this is still perplexing.
Man I really missed the Hive arc, and exploring the Dreadnaught. That was peak Destiny.
The Dreadnaught was my favorite map. It should have been 3-5 times larger though!
Man this video posed an awful lot of questions that have direct existing answers
Xivu was already on the dreadnaught/ has claimed it.
The older the hive the longer this seems to take
We do know how the weapon works, its oryx expanding his throne into reality temporarily.
You Evanf and Evade always put out top notch lore videos!! 🎉

@ 3:12 what is that cutscene from? and following one with the dark blade.
I love a 30 minute long byf video
i seem to recall that first mission on the dreadnought where we narrowly escape the superweapon, our guardians did 'disable' the superweapon as one of our first objectives and priorities.
You are genuinely my favorite TH-camr
We have guardians playing crucible on the dreadnaught. I think we will be fine.
this might be what they do with episode (1?) heresy, the core thing might be gaining a foothold and then pushing Xivu's brood or lucent hive out, the scattering of the scorn that will probably happen post final shape that we already saw with warlord's could see a them wanting to take the dreadnaught for themselves to give themselves a foothold that has access to the ascendant plane, this could get the mindbender back into the game and his play could be trying to get the barons back. we could have some weird feelings of "hey these guys aren't just zombies, they think like the Eliksni or anyone else, is it moral to keep fighting them or should we try talking?" which could lead to some characters not forgiving them for Cayde's death, those feeling drudged up by his ghost in TFS and other characters realizing that they need their allies in a time of uncertainty.
15:05 Im sure there are those who crave new content, but i personally spent probably far too many hours roaming the halls and buggy walls of the dreadnaught.. and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It was such a beatiful and unique location.
Man I would love a updated version of the dreadnaught being in D2, that would be so cool, such a throwback
man this takes me back. kind of wish i knew how to preserve my progress between games back when they announced d2.
In a way oryx gave his throne world to his ship-the dreadnaught allowing the throne world to remain alive but without its original host.
Pretty sure people wouldnt be mad about the dreadnought being returned atleast, you cant even access it in vanilla d1
Wasn’t there a lore entry in season of the witch were Xivu Arath communicated with the witness from the dreadnaught? 🤔
Edit: season of the deep, purpose, part VI Conviction.
Excuse me it was the lorebook in season of the deep. Part VI: Conviction.
Ishtar Academy was so under explored and there has to be a ton of Vex knowledge there
The Dreadnaught was such a amazing place to go to. It would be awesome to go back to that
I would love to see a Taken War expansion or episodes. Where our guardian claims his Dreadnought. That location has so much to play with.
We should have at least a strike or a season where we would go there maybe there will be an Episode exploring this after the final shape ?
Destiny's lore is slept on way too hard. Thanks for these videos, it fuels my love for the game knowing there's always more to learn about
The dreadnaught is technically boarded in Ghost of the Deep. It's under the oceans of titan. Along with Oryx's corpse close to it. Likely why it's there was the gravitational pull of the pyramid ship on Titan when it went dark likely pulled it and Oryx's corpse there.???
what was the reason that a cabal ship could ram through it and not just explode after trying to ram it?
This aged… well it aged.

After all these years Byf comes full circle and became Toland, questioning why we havent seized the Dreadnaught for ourselves.
Life imitates art.
Byf is the only Destiny content worth consuming anymore😢. I wish Bungie would make me love this game again.
I would love to see an explanation on the light themed or lucent version of the dreadnaught in the dungeon
Leaving his ship is like in marvel and DC leaving villains gear in the prison they will soon escape
I love watching old clips and seeing blue engrams drop brings me back lmaoo
I’m hoping we see the Dreadnought in a future story. The atmospherics of that environment are truly memorable!
I think we have contained zones of the dreadnaught due to the crucible maps, but that could just be a gameplay thing
I might be wrong and will totally admit it, but I thought the guardians and cabal ripped it apart mostly after we officially killed Oryx?
Coming back after the episodes were revealed. Looks like Bungie didn't forget either.
I didnt forget it. I think about it every time i think of the hive
The black terrace turned inside out into the dreadnaught is a great ideia for xivu to reclaim her throne...that would be cool to see in heresy
Watching Oryx behead his sister was so badass (I'm a relatively new light so I have no idea, but the whole premise of Destiny's lore entices me)
The Dreadnought was my favourite location in D1. I would love to see it return!
Im almost certain bungie watches these vids, "we didnt forget the dreadnought"
Byf: rants about the dreadneught
Me: We’re kinda of in the middle of stopping the end of existence itself
Could we take Dreadnought through the portal to the Pale Heart... and just blow up the Witness?
Might be too big, but still you would probably be hurting the traveler and the light by doing so let alone probably killing the main character as well (if we’re the one that sets it off)
gonna need a lot of lube >.>
Thank you for talking about the dreadnought in 2024
I’ve been waiting for mention of it. The all mighty was cool but nothing compares to the dreadoughts menacing debut
