All three jedi were desperate to find Tanalorr. Bode to protect his only family, Dagan to establish a school to bring forward a new generation of jedi and Cal to find a safe haven against the Empire for him and his friends. Both Dagan and Bode were willing to go to any length to reach their goal. Unlike them, Cal never reached that point thanks to those close to him and he never was willing to put innocent people in danger. But he's struggling... God I love this story so much
Everyone Cal has fought is, in some way, a mirror of himself. Survivor does a really great job showing the parallel paths these Jedi are on, and echoing what Cal could become if he stays his course
Yooooooooo, that one went hard!!! And I don’t think I ever considered how Dagan’s fall and betrayal of the order was actually foreshadowing for Bode. I think my favourite little sequence is the “how could you be so blind” part at 1:13, it really hits well as both its own little somba beat and lead up to the beet drop.
The entire edit is built around that sequence! It's also my favorite part :) And both Dagan and Bode narratively represent what Cal could become, turning a well-intentioned goal into a blind obsession. Bode using Dagan's red saber only further emphasizes his fall down the same path Dagan fell 200 years ago.
Each of them feels betrayed, but it's how they respond to that betrayal that changes their individual paths. Super fun to re-examine the story through that lens - glad you liked it!!

This is an amazing tribute! One of my favorite things you highlighted is the relationships each one of them has/had with women in their life. Bode had a wife, Cal has Merrin, and it is heavily implied that Dagan and Santari were a romantic relationship. Also, congrats on 1k!
I noticed that while editing! Santari, Merrin, and Tayala/Kata all try to encourage/save their Jedi from "straying from the path." Cal's story ended differently because he trusted and listened to his loved ones, while Dagan and Bode did not.

Love seeing more people make videos about about the Jedi series. And the tragedy of Bode is that he's lost too much to the Empire to risk sharing this safe haven - so he'll burn anything in his way to achieve that safety. He's a really compelling, messy character that represents what Cal could become

It is videos such as this that remind me of the mod for the games in which the lightsabres are actually capable of entirely rending through someone, as they should; particularly the scenes where a trooper is split straight down the middle in two halves from top to bottom, and when another is slashed through the eyes, removing the cap of his skull. These weapons are horrific, and the depths of their power aren't appreciated by these media. But these edits you make come very close, from condensing the stories of those who wield them and what it truly means to hold one in your hands. I would pay for a horror game or movie from the gruesome perspective of the untrained against a darksider.
