+Jewells Mincey ive had 5-6 inches cut off because she claimed "your hair was damaged" but this was when i was younger so i wasnt allowed to have color, heat or perms/relaxers. So basically this woman cut my hair just because and i literally went in for a trim. Ive never cried so much in my life compared to that day and this was my mothers stylist....... havent heard from her since. I was about 6-9 when this happened, never had anyone but myself cut my hair since.
+Jay Xo stylist normally cut that much because it's too much work for them so the shorter the easier😑😑. I always hated when I was younger and my stylist kept me hair at a certain length when I wanted to grow it out. Now, that I'm natural I do everything myself it maybe a lot of work but no one can tell me how long my hair need to be or how I can't style it.
Skygurl2012lmao exactly why im starting over, i miss having thick hair with length! I still hold that grudge til today because i know for sure i would've stayed natural instead of tex-laxing it basically. Hopefully ill achieve my goal soon.
Something you should try to see if you like it better. When I'm in need of a trim I found that doing it with a deep conditioner in makes life and the trim go so smoothly. The reason I like doing it that way is when a deep conditioner is in its so heavy that it elongates the hair and detangles it and when you smooth it with your fingers you can actually single out the single stran notes and get a flawless cut.
This video was enlightening! I haven't cut nor trimmed my own hair in three months. I have now chosen to go to a stylist that I had to trust and understand with my natural hair for trimming. I have always been scissor happy too, so I enjoyed watching you clip away those bad ends.
Single strand knots are literally the death of me :( it is important to trim though even tho it sucks when you're finally starting to see growth! Good video chick!
On everything. In my opinion out of all the hundreds of big chops I saw. For some reason I love yours so much better. You big chopped w alot of hair and its very long for two years. You done wonderful for somebody who educated themselves
Thanks for posting. Too many of these jealous stylists chop off waaaay too much. You go in for a trim and leave with a pixie cut. Unnecessary. They do that to charge you more, too. Some are just spiteful for no reason. Envious of your beautiful hair. I don't mess with stylists anymore. They know they're doing wrong. Trimming myself from now on. Thanks again :-)
Your hair look gorgeous!!! I definitely after seeing your video have been cutting/trimming way to much hair UGH!!!! Can't wait to see your diva cut. I have seen some naturals do it and it looks really nice
I'm sitting under the steamer right now knowing about those knots..lol..hoping the steamer would melt some away but I know a trim is due, thanks for be a guiding light ✨
This is a great video! My hair is in protective styles 90% of the year and I find that protective styling limits the amount of SSK I get throughout the year. Thanks for sharing!
This video was very helpful. I used it as a guide to trim my hair myself this weekend. it was the first time I trimmed my hair and didn't feel like it ended up being a cut instead. :-P
I actually love you an your hair you've taught me so much for my curly hair and how to manage it while try and trim my own hair please do a products video what you use to grow your hair xx
I'm not knocking what you're doing, you have beautiful natural hair, but as a retired stylist, it might make your process a little easier if you carry a fresh trimed bunch to the next section to get a more even shape or precise trim. I commend you tho for tackling all that hair 😀
Girls are so afraid of trims but it keeps your hair from breaking further. Did you see how much she cut off? I used to get that amount of pure breakage every day I that detangled before I had a trim done. Now I get way less knots and my hair is easy to comb and doesn't break from the ends. And it helps stay moisturized
Great Job. Have you ever done an ACV rinse? I did for the first time Thursday night. It make my hair soft, silky and shiny. It helped me with the itchy sore scalp problem that was preventing me from going on with my natural and healthy hair Journey. It's on now!! :-)
i add distilled water, alie vera juice and acv in a spray bottle. i keep it in the fridge and spray my scalo 3 times a week before bed. Only my scalp.. no more sebbohreic dermatitis and no more itch
I just got my hair trimmed for the first time ever (professionally). I really enjoyed it. The longest mid back length and the shortest just past my shoulders and it's now all even up to my shoulder. feels so soft and beautiful. I can't get it into a bun any more but meh
i literally just finish trimming my hair like 4 minutes ago. i was experiencing single strand knots two but my hair isnt as long as yours . i was surprised
You hair is gorgeous. I'm actually growing out my hair again. I cut it off because I bleached it so much. I'm so sad lol. But I'll get over it. Just no more bleaching for me
U prob get this a lot, but u look like Gabe from Gabe&Babe... especially in the still from this video. I thought she'd changed her YT name. Super healthy hair. I hate having to think I've gotta flat iron my hair to trim... nope
Great video. I trim my hair frequently which makes it easier to comb and manage. One suggestion I may add. Your voice sounded really good but the music was very loud.
i haven't had my ends trimmed in a very long time, but that was before i went natural. since then it has grown A LOT from where it was but i do believe it's time to clip my ends for the sake of new hair growth. 😫😭
I don't like straightening my hair because I have thin hair, but I do like doing braid outs on straight hair and stuff because it's shiny and makes looser curls.
Thankyou so much. I feel much more confident about doing it myself. I'm here cause my goto hair braider got a new BF and has been playing hot and cold. I just upped her fee too due to inflation cause she does better than these lazy chair ladies in my area.
You can deff trust @DevaCurl salons. I don't know where you are located at but there's this one I went to in Soho,NY and I absolutely loved it. It was pricey but absolutely loved it!!!! I would recommend every curly haired person to go. they cleansed, cut, and styled my hair. the best part is that they actually show you how to do it along the way too! But if your still feeling shake about it you can go in for a free hair consultation and ask a senior hair stylist to look at you. Hope it helps! Good look on the growth!
my ends are always getting cut i might have to stop doing wash and go's i'm trying 2 strand twist so i just wear them in a bun. i will try this way of cutting myself cause i don't dare go to a salon and i'm trying to have healthy waist length hair having a hard time with my ends . thank you!
you should do a updated straight hair routine so we can see the length and i need a tip do you thin African black soap shampoo is good for dry transitioning 4c hair.
+JourneyTo WaistLength hey how much months did u trim ur hair from ur big chop?? I cut mines on the 12 on December and I have the same problem already was wondering when would be the best idea for me to get a trim???
I used school scissors to cut my relaxed ends and my hair grew tremendously when I went natural. I haven't trimmed since and its been 2 years and I'm noticing long stringy, always knotted up ends. Should I stick with the school scissors or buy a hair scissor wich my mom doesn't really wanna go out buy??
excellent job with trimming honestly I thought u had to straight the hair first with the hot comb than trim the ends after. Also I would like to know does the braids break ur ends because I'm getting my hair braided the end of next week will the braid damage my ends and if so what oils should I use to protect my ends from breaking?
Damnnn can I trade hair?! Your hair is so gorgeous!!! Growing up half hispanic and black.. my mom never really knew how to deal with my hair ;-; I'm going to try this :) Thanks!
I have your exactttt hair type and mine isn't even on my shoulders yet. I'd like this length but I feel like I will never get there. I did the big chop almost 3 years ago now and it grew but not to my liking. What do you think I should do to get this length?. Seeing that you have my hair type your ways may help me.
Question: im a male with an afro not too big and not too small. My afro is uneven on some sides so would this way be good to do to make it even all around? I sponge my hair as well
I'm transitioning and I trimmed my hair the way you did (about an inch or so) but I noticed I still had some split ends and single stranded knots so I trimmed the ones I could see, but what does that mean? Do I need to trim my hair again or did I do something wrong?
I too cut my hair cuz I'm the only one who know what "just the ends means"
EXACTLY! BEAUTICIANS DONT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT CONCEPT
Isn't that the truth
ELIANNY MESA VERGAL girl yass! say it louder so the people in the back can hear you🙌🙌
exactlyy
I trim my own hair as well , I don't trust others when it comes to my hair!
Yessss same here!!!!! Most hair stylists cut wayyy too much!
girl me too lol. not even my own momma can touch my hair😂😂😂
+Jewells Mincey ive had 5-6 inches cut off because she claimed "your hair was damaged" but this was when i was younger so i wasnt allowed to have color, heat or perms/relaxers. JustForYou♥ same here,

Its been 4 years i need a TRIM
When you took your hair out of the bun, I was like, "OMG."
Your hair is beautiful!!!!!!
I don't trim my hair much, maybe that's the reason it's not getting longer.
Naraa IK THIS IS RANDOM BUT WE HAVE THE SAME NICKNAME
Same im gonna start trimming lol
You and your hair are both so pretty:)x
Thanks for posting. Too many of these jealous stylists chop off waaaay too much. You go in for a trim and leave with a pixie cut. Unnecessary. They do that to charge you more, too. Can't wait to see your diva cut. I have seen some naturals do it and it looks really nice
I have sooo many single strand knots! I saw these balls at the ends of my hair and thought it was normal. Thank you for this video!
I like the "feel for the damage" method. It makes the most sense to me. Great video!
I can't believe you're fully natural already. I think your hair is gorgeous either way!
Wow love it! I'm soooo due for a trim!💇🏾🙈
+ToNaturAli aren't we all lol. It just always seem like its time for a trim

Your hair is so pretty :3
I have your exactttt hair type and mine isn't even on my shoulders yet. I'd like this length but I feel like I will never get there. I did the big chop almost 3 years ago now and it grew but not to my liking. What do you think I should do to get this length?. Seeing that you have my hair type your ways may help me.

Love your hair!
Question: im a male with an afro not too big and not too small. My afro is uneven on some sides so would this way be good to do to make it even all around? I sponge my hair as well

Can you please make a video about patience. Sometime I feel like I'm losing my mind because my hair take forever to grow out.
I'm transitioning and I trimmed my hair the way you did (about an inch or so) but I noticed I still had some split ends and single stranded knots so I trimmed the ones I could see, but what does that mean?
Do I need to trim my hair again or did I do something wrong?
