This video saved my life. Spent the first two years of my hair journey not knowing my porosity and doing the LOC method like youtubers with water, coconut oil, and Cantu. But my hair would always be dry, and I was forever confused about it. Then I came across this video and realized I was low porosity and began doing the LCO with a leave in, cantu, and shea butter. My hair has never been juicier. Thanks so much!
Comfortably Plump I think I am having the same issue, hair is just never moisturized for too long unless I use a curl butter or something , oils just dry up, I will try that!!
My GOD I just asked this question too! Today is deep conditioning day and I was wondering if I could do this method after I deep condition! Jesus is so amazing! Thank you!
Make sure that you spray it with water first. Start at the ends. If you find any knots with the wide tooth comb use your fingers. If you can't release them gently then snip out the knot. If it's like that all over than you should get a trim. Trust me its better to lose 1/2 inch or more than to pull your hair out and have a ton of breakage. Afterward make sure you always tuck your ends away at night and condition and seal them with oils to lubricate them so they don't tangle.
I spent so much money on deep conditioners just to realize my hair just wants some moisturizing cheap ass v05 😂😂 I swear my hair texture changed overnight. The less I spend on products, the better it looks #lowporositylove
YES TO THESE CLOSE UPS!!!!! I have an eye condition so I zoom in on a lot of videos anyway, but this time I didn't have to! Yay! And I do the LOC method, but I might have to give LCO a try too!
OMG !!! Glad to see you use the Creme of Nature Eden and Lotta Body Coconut product !! This has been a staple in my household. We are a hair spectrum in my household ,my husbands 3c hair to my 4c hair ( my kids fall in between) but I found that combining those products along with my own castor / Shea butter mixture really helps lock in moisture.
We have the same type of hair and my hair is thick just like yours and it's low porosity hair. My mom didn't want me to go natural because "it's hard to contain" but I told her it's better than getting a perm because it caused damage to my hair. Thank you for providing these videos so i know how I can take care of my hair properly. I haven't had a perm in a year in a half and haven't even touched heat in forever. Now my hair looks healthier than ever!!!
You have saved my life. I did not know that the porosity of your hair has a lot to do with moisture retention. I was Using the LOC method but it seemed to leave white residue. I started just doing the leave in with the oil and it work just fine but my hair would be dry the next day. I'm going to try this method and add the cream in. Thank You hun!
I REALLY enjoy your videos, I found you while watching another video, and I REALLY wanna thank you for taking time to educate us PROPERLY about hair care, I'm a new natural, 4b,4c hair and since utilizing the tips you've been given I NOW have about 5-6 inches of natural healthy hair, thank you so so much, can't wait til my hair is YOUR current length
My hair has been super dry since the start of my transition. After 10 months post relaxer, I finally did a porosity test and found out my hair is low porosity and that I've been doing everything WRONG for my hair. I've been working on soaking wet hair, skipping the hooded dry step needed to penetrate my hair shaft (for deep conditioning) and using very heavy oils on my hair (Jamaican black castor). ***I can't deal!***
This made me smile because you literally have my hair. You're the first youtuber that has exact identical hair texture and look to mine. Mine is only like 3 or 4 inches longer.
OMG you just saved my hair on damp hair i used a moisturizing spray/aloe vera, moisturizing cream and then oil my hair has never felt so soft I have 4c dry brittle hair i want to get locs but i haven't because my hair was so dry and been trying different products to get my hair soft this was my first time I'll continue this method and see how it goes thank you
I got a love and hate with coconut oil. Coconut oil irritates my scalp but in the summer time when I use it my hair is shiny but when I use it in the winter my hair gets brittle. I have porosity hair. Your hair is beautiful! Great video!
I have low porosity hair and i use the loc method with warm water, olive oil, and a butter creme on the lighyer side like auntie jackies type. And lemme tell you it does WONDERS for my hair, my hair has retained length and grown so much over the past year. The loc method works perfectly for my low porosity hair. Water tends to sit on top of my hair, like you can literally see the beads, takes a while for it to dry, and retains moisture for a few days at a time. I keep seeing people talking about how the lco method is MEANT for low porosity hair but if the loc method works for me should i just stick with it? With the warm water, olive oil, and auntie jackies my hear is defined, super light, soft, and moisturised, i have low porosity hair but i keep hearing use the lco method! Should i switch or should i stay with loc since it works for me?
I feel like with my low porosity hair my curls actually DONT take a long time to dry. When doing styles I find myself having to keep re-writing my hair
Same. It only takes a long ass time when I putting a wrap or headband etc on it. Otherwise it dries quickly. And I have to use warm to hot water otherwise the water literally rolls of my hair to the bathroom floor 😂
I Did a very similar moisturizing method too and that the most moisture I've felt in my strands. I just did the water test and my strands have been floating for 10minutes lol what!! I guess I know why the LCO method worked so good when I took my protective hairstyle out!! Thanks for the videos on this topic because I would've never guess!!
Our hair is exactly the same. So I will be following and doing this hair length journey with you. xoxo Thanks for always providing helpful info in the description box.
I tried spraying water on my hair then leave in but it immediately got hard, but you mentioned using warm water and that made a difference. Im also low porosity, coarrse hair 👍
This is gonna be really helpful when I get back close to my one year mark. Last time I was at a year natural my hair started to feel and look perpetually dry and just not as healthy as the earlier months. Love your videos x
I'm a kid and I love to do my natural hair but I'm not super little so I'm capable of doing it... I love thos because I have very low porosity and so does my sister. It seems like my hair grows slow but I keep it in natural low manipulation styles all the time. My mom has naturally very long hair no matter how much heat she puts on it which is all the time... (sometimes she makes me put it on two braids bc she cannot braid) Thank you for this video it's really going to help my dry hair... it need so much moisture to grow
I’ve been doing an olc (oil, leave-in, cream) or a lolc (liquid *water*, oil, leave-in, cream) and I could t understand why I wasn’t getting it for my low prosperity hair and now I see what you mean now! I got to try it this weekend! Thank you so much for this
Man. I'm so stressed, I big chopped all my relaxed ends off about 4-5months ago, and my hair has been so dry still. I don't know how / what to do. I have realized that it is just naturally dry but it's hard to manage 😞😪
yeah i have the same problem i big chopped my hair in June then did box braids took them out now my hair is just dry, i recently washed, deep conditioned & LOC then Threaded it over night it came out dry as ever
That happened to me too. Don't be afraid to use the styling products you bought for your relaxed hair on your natural hair because they were especially meant to help get back moisture. I used up those products first, minus the gels on my natural hair and they worked better than when I was relaxed.
Ever since I watched this I bought the lotta body moisturizer and added it into my loc method. I'm a little bit extra so I also use as follows: water , jbco Shea moisture leave in, a tiny drop of apricot oil(KEY SECRET ) Shea butter mix(which also has apricot oil) and the lotta body to finish it off and THAT HAS SAVED MY HAIR I am a newly natural and I think you and the loc method for being able to find how to PROPERLY moisturize my 4c hair and have it last for days in my twists at such an early stage of being natural ! I've been doing that specific method for months now but I had to come back and give credit to where it's due ! So thank you ! I've been natural for officially 1 year and I went from bald to collarbone length . And I pretty happy about it ❤️❤️❤️ Finding how to MOISTURIZE YOUR HAIR PROPERLY IS KEY TO GROWING YOUR NATURAL(especially 4c) hair
I have SUPER coily, low-porosity hair. Coconut and Shea work for me only before bed or on a windy day.. my hair tends to dry out and become stiff. I rather like light oils such as grapeseed or almond, I just feel like it's easier for outside moisture to get in 😁
How did you discover you have 4a-4C curl pattern? I watched old video and you listed 3C, 4a. How can you really tell? I'm asking because I assumed all "S" shape curls fell under the 3C pattern. I want to transition and just need all the knowledge I can get.
My mama taught me LOC. Although like you said it varies on the person. However my mama made a good statement that to help keep the shine in your hair is to have oil after liquid and then cream to hold the oil. Just a lil comment.
Hello, wanted to thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful as I too have low porosity hair and trying to figure out what products penetrate, has been a journey. When will you have more shea butter available? I would love to try it out on my strands? Hope to hear from you soon
Hey I’m a teen with low porosity hair I usually keep my hair in braids a lot I usually use coconut oil and creme of nature intense moisture i need a lot of help understanding my hair how to take care of it
Great video... I had commented on a few other YT's that did a video pertaining to porosity and one if them suggested that I do the "lock Method" the way you did LCO instead of LOC and it has been working great... Now I know and understand a little more why... They also said that it has to do with my hair type also?... Do you agree??
YOUR HAIR IS VERY BEAUTIFUL. I THINK I WILL CHANGE PRODUCTS . NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING FOR ME. I WILL TRY ALL OF YOUR PRODUCTS. I REMEMBER I USE TO USE LOTTA BODY OVER THE YEARS BUT I COULD NOT REMEMBER WHAT I USED BECAUSE I WENT THROUGH SO MANY. I WILL HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN TO SEE WHAT REALLY WORKS. I AM GETTING PRETTY TIRED OF TRYING WITH NO RESULTS! MAYBE I AM USING TO MANY PRODUCTS. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT WORKS. GREAT VIEDO AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE TIPS. MY HAIR TYPES ARE THE SAME AS YOURS. MY BACK IS 4A, CROWN IS 4B AND FRONT IS 4C. HOW WEIRD IS THAT?
Thank you. You are amazing. I'm suffering with dry hair I'm 4c and can't keep moisture to save my life. Anyone have product recommendations also I did the big chop four years ago and again this year. Isn't growing
I was using palmers coconut shampoo and I use water mixed with olive oil. It's short I don't know how to wear it other than a fro. I don't know any protective styles and I hate wearing braids
+marie “crangrapelove11” Bradshaw try using coconut water -pulp free- and aloe Vera juice in a spray bottle. They both will help with hydration for your hair and aid in growth. Deep condition atleast once a week minimum. You also should invest in a hair steamer. Finally someone with hair like me. Or should I say some of my hair. I have three textures on my head, but most of my hair texture is just like yours. Thats for the video. I just undrrstood why my hair reaction to certain hair products in a particukar way. What oftain happens I try a hair product and the other textures react well but the part that looks like yours will be dry in 2 days. Is your hair 4a?
Wow. So simple! I just saw a vid where the girl used 7 products!!! All very expensive as well. I'm curious to know if your method will work for my poor neglected hair.
It seems like once your hair gets to a longer length, it's easier to do twist outs and braid outs and get better results
Angela Roberts RIGHTTTT!!! 😢👏🏾👏🏾
Angela Roberts with shorter hair I found it best to use less product for better results😁
Riight
I can only wrap it up and pray for the first 3 months. Since I big chop to scalp every 4 or 5 years. Lol 😂
yesss, the shorter, the more twists
This video saved my life. Spent the first two years of my hair journey not knowing my porosity and doing the LOC method like youtubers with water, coconut oil, and Cantu. Comfortably Plump aw no problem!
Comfortably Plump what do you use as liquid? Thanks
Sophielove1 I use the creme of nature argan oil strength and shine leave in on damp hair. I typically only use very watery leave ins.
I’m the same way!!
Comfortably Plump I think I am having the same issue, hair is just never moisturized for too long unless I use a curl butter or something , oils just dry up, I will try that!!
Gorgeous and great method. Black women are hands down the most beautiful women and come in a variety of colors.
luv u 2 sis
Thank you king
🙌🏾👌🏾
Look at God 🙌🏾 you are right on time with this video! I am deep conditioning my hair as I type trying to think of the best moisture methods 😭
Lol. Won't he do it?!?!
+Charmayne Ashley AMEN🙏🏾
My GOD I just asked this question too! Today is deep conditioning day and I was wondering if I could do this method after I deep condition! Jesus is so amazing! Thank you!
Charmayne Ashley yes he willllllll
it always seems like detangling your hair is so easy. when i comb through mine its purr torture and i end up having a grave yard of curls around me. 😥
A_krazy_shoe_lady me too! 😭

A_krazy_shoe_lady Omg Same!
A_krazy_shoe_lady if that’s the case you are either not using enough product for your hair or you need a trim

You're literally the first person I've seen with hair that looks exactly like mine omg bless
Her hair looks nice and healthy. But I would have loved to see the results after twisting and rodding.

love how it moisturized your hair, don't stop making hair videos I'll need you when I'm 100% natural.😊
This made me smile because you literally have my hair. You're the first youtuber that has exact identical hair texture and look to mine. Mine is only like 3 or 4 inches longer.

A simple glycerine and water spritz helped keep my low porosity hair moisturized all day sometimes 2 depending on the weather.
Shanda Renee 😂 same ahahaha
aphrospice what do you do in the winter
You hair is always pretty. The texture of your hair is nice.
Your hair looks lusciously moisturised! Love it ;-)

It’s because it’s harder for the water to penetrate so you need to keep wetting it
Sameee
I honestly can't find any other youtuber with hair so similar to mine. Love your videos! Keep it going girl!
Your such an inspiration for my natural hair! 💗
+Naomi Chanel Laing 😊
Naomi Chanel Laing awwww

This is golden!!!! My granddaughters hair type!
Beautiful hair! I love the LOC method for my hair too. It truly works well for my hair.
I've been doing the LCO method since 2011/2012. Definitely the best method for my hair. Glad it works for you as well. 😊
Beautiful! your hair looks amazing!
I'm a kid and I love to do my natural hair but I'm not super little so I'm capable of doing it... I love thos because I have very low porosity and so does my sister. You may have to use heat to help the products (especially the moisturising ones) penetrate your hair strands better!
yeah i have the same problem i big chopped my hair in June then did box braids took them out now my hair is just dry, i recently washed, deep conditioned & LOC then Threaded it over night it came out dry as ever

One word. *SHINE!* I love it :)
Ever since I watched this I bought the lotta body moisturizer and added it into my loc method. glad it worked for you
I love your hair!!! Do you have a video of your nightly routine? If not, can you make one
love this, your hair is always so shiny lol. Are you still making a wash day routine video? like a tutorial?

you may want to search youtube for "lco method" or just " lco " it is a actual method she did not say the name incorrectly.
i sooo would've loved to see that twist out result at the end!😫
Your hair is so thick and beautiful 😍😍😍😍
I finally found someone who has the exact same hair texture and porosity as me I just have a patch of 3c curls in the front of my head.
I can't wait for my hair to reach that length I have the same exact type of hair. Thanks
Finally i found someone with my hair type ☺☺☺☺☺
This is exactly what I do. Just using different products.
Great video, I am going to try this combo.!!
A smile is allways on your face
you should do a 3 strand twist out I think it'll look really nice on you
My mama taught me LOC. Although like you said it varies on the person. However my mama made a good statement that to help keep the shine in your hair is to have oil after liquid and then cream to hold the oil. Just a lil comment.
So you're saying to spray it with warm water 1, then oil it then seal it with the cream and that will grow my hair ?
Do a take down video please. Love those twist
I really like watching this video, Your hair is the same texture as mine, I have no idea on how to maintain it SMH...thanks for sharing your videos.
Whenever u do straighten you hair can u do a straight hair routine
I love the LCO method!
Hello, wanted to thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful as I too have low porosity hair and trying to figure out what products penetrate, has been a journey. When will you have more shea butter available? I would love to try it out on my strands? Hope to hear from you soon
I have low porosity hair with locs. I wonder how this method would work. I love how healthy and thick your hair is!

how often do you moisturize your hair? how often do you recommend doing it?

Finally someone with hair like me. Or should I say some of my hair. I have three textures on my head, but most of my hair texture is just like yours. Thats for the video. I just undrrstood why my hair reaction to certain hair products in a particukar way. What oftain happens I try a hair product and the other textures react well but the part that looks like yours will be dry in 2 days. Is your hair 4a?
I remember using coconut oil and a cream on my hair and my hair did not shrink at all I was so happy that day 😄
Wow. So simple! I just saw a vid where the girl used 7 products!!! All very expensive as well. I'm curious to know if your method will work for my poor neglected hair.
