I am back sharing with you how I TRIM & SHAPE my natural 4C / 4B hair! Here is how to trim your won hair at home! I have been trimming and shaping my hair on my own at home since I have been natural! I already have a video all about this but I wanted to share more DETAIL!

Starpuppy sent me here and I am so glad. I've been going too long without trimming and trimming wrong when I do because every time I go to the salon, they cut off too much. Last time she cut my natural hair while it was wet😵💫😵💫😵💫. I haven't been back since (3+ yrs ago). I can't wait to try this method. 👍🏿

I'm having flashbacks to the time I let this lady "trim" my hair with wet hair. I lost half of my length :-/. I think I am going to stick to your tutorial from now on.
GIRL! Wet hair trims is a NO for me! That is just a recipe for a big chop lol! I hope you do and it works for you!
That’s interesting I feel like I can’t see where the damage is if it’s not wet. I always stretch out the part I’m cutting so I can just how much is coming off. Sorry you had that experience though.
That’s because they didn’t know what they are doing. I’m a hairstylist. When working with natural hair on wet hair a little goes a looooooooonnnngggggggggg way.
Such beautiful hair. I’m so sad I went to a salon for a silk press, treatment and trim the other day. My hair was almost as long as yours and I feel like I lost at least 1/3 to 1/2 of it after the trim, but I just know my hair wasn’t so unhealthy that she had to cut that much. For 12 years I was natural after transitioning from relaxed hair. I was washing, trimming and growing my hair all on my own. No one else styled my hair in all that time except for a blowout that I got in the very beginning of my journey. For w/e stupid reason, I decided to get a silk press last week before a trip I was supposed to go on - that got canceled last min - and the silk press became a fuzzy fro in about 6 hours after the $200 treatment anyway. I was so mad, SO MAD that I did that to my beautiful hair. Now I feel like I’m starting all the way over and my heart is broken, but I’m trying to look at it as a learning experience, and an opportunity to trim my hair properly going forward. I will say that my hair does feel healthier, but it’s prob bc she basically gave me a medium chop (vs a big chop, but it’s honestly a HUGE chop to me when it was just supposed to be a trim!). Anyway, taking it as an opportunity to start anew and grow my hair even better and faster than before, and hopefully develop a beautiful shape to my fro as you have with yours ❤
Thank you for sharing sis! I am so sorry this happened to you. I did faux locs and completely messed up my hair after been natural for 10 years so feel you! But we got this sis! We know what our hair needs we just need to put in the work and be patient
So sorry that happened to you I hope God blessed your hair growth journey. In the meantime do hot oil treatments. You can do the inversion method. Do it for 2-3 weeks and stop for the rest of the month (so your hair does not get use to it) and then continue the next month. I prefer olive oil since it helps gets rid of sebum and I see a difference in my growth. Also, wear mini twists. Many ppl including myself have done this and we were able to retain length and grow out hairs out. Lastly, protective style. Box braids grew my hair tremendously but due to your experience I would rather you do low maintenance hairstyles with your natural hair. Try these for like five months and let me know if there’s a difference!!! 😊
P.S I got a bad trim too but the hot oil treatment really helped my hair grow back to it original length. Massage your hair for -5 minutes and lay upside down(if you are hanging upside for 10-15 minutes then you can stop massaging after five minutes) or just massage it regularly.

Just seeing this; I see it's been out for a few years. I was contemplating on going to the salon this morning, but I've always hated paying high prices for mediocre service.
I usually trim my hair myself; been natural for quite some time. Sometimes you just wanna have be served and not do it yourself. But I will say it's worth it, once you know what you're doing. Great video! I saw how quickly and easily my hairdresser did my trims. I wear my hair curly 99% of the time and go to salon twice a year for trim & shaping. No more paying $100 for an just an hour to wash, blow-dry and shape. I don't even require a still bcs I wet it at home!

At this point to see how u are doing it. I realize that this is how I been doing my kids trims but I have been so scared the hair always comes out un-even. But I will do better at section off I only cut off the ends like you do but I notice a good difference in a good way.
