I read an interesting fact about white round cheese on the Internet, Kurt, during the war in Kazakhstan there was a prison for the wives of soldiers who betrayed the country and the Kazakhs threw this white pebble to the female prisoners who were starving, but this gesture was taken as mocking because they thought it was a stone until they tried this stone, so they saved themselves from hunger, and the guards thought that the locals were mocking the prisoners and were happy thinking that the locals did not like the prisoners. something like that

Horse meat is the most ecologically clean meat. They graze in the steppes and eat wormwood. They are not allowed to use chemicals. I don’t know how it is in other countries, but in Kazakhstan it is like that.

Thank you so much for visiting the country my parents are from ❤ it's nice to see it from a tourists perspective and with your positive nature. Now we live in Germany, my parents came here almost 30 years ago. Originally my ancestors lived in the Wolga region of Russia and were deported to Kazakhstan after worldwar 2, because all germans were considered traitors, even when they already lived for 200 years in Russia. Other ethnicities were also affected by this, for example koreans. Many of them ended up with nothing in Kazakhstan and the kazakh people took them in with much hospitality. There are many stories of my grandparents, where they were starving and kazakh people helped them out with food without wanting anything back. They are such generous and nice people and I wish I can someday visit this country. also Plov and Beshbarmak are my favourite dishes! 😍

Interesting fact about that bazaar and people in general, you can actually see different ethnicities on different products, like dairy is mostly Turkish and Russian women, dried fruits are mostly uzbeks and Tajiks (they look Persian), Salads are Koreans and Kazakhs (Asian looking), also usually everything about horse, meat and dairy also Kazakhs (Asians), pork Russians, so here you go that’s how you can tell the difference between Kazakhstani people

I just googled about these "white balls" on the internet and found a very interesting article about them. It's definitely kurut and very typical of Central Asia. Nomads eat these sour cheese balls. They are very filling and keep for a long time. When buying them, you have to make sure that they aren't stuffed with flour! and cheese to make them cheaper. Excellent kurut is only made from cheese.

Yeah, but regular people in Almaty, Kazakhstan earn about 50-70 bucks a day, so it’s quite pricey for them

It takes the human body several hours to digest horse meat. Other types of meat, including beef, can remain in the stomach for several days.

I'm glad that you liked the Almaty. What about our food, we have really a lot of onion in our traditional dishes. Traditional dishes is about identity, history, culture. Of course, there is no influence from any another country. It just is our way to make dishes delicious.
