You guys are perfect for each other. Very inspiring to find this kind of connection that you guys have. Different yet complete each other. I agree, conversation is the key. Great topics this pod cast.
Hi Pee Note & Pee Flora, I am on a train travelling from Hua Hin back to Bangkok and enjoying your show. We share a lot of similarities, as I was born in HK & moved to Vancouver in 1975. I can relate to what you were talking about. Then I moved back HK in 1984 for 10yrs, and because of proximity, I discovered Thailand. From then on, I Fell in Love with the country, culture & religion. Have been travelling to Thailand since then. I moved back to Vancouver in 1994 but my heart was left in Thailand. I still visit The Kingdom twice a year, if I can. I learned more about their culture & respect. In this sense, I can relate to Thai culture very well. Only challenge so far is my determination to study Thai. I can get by OK, but not carrying a lengthy conversation. If you don't use it, you lose it. I retired 2 years ago and am doing my 55 days trip. Been to Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok, Nan, Phrae, Lampang, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin and finishing up in Bangkok. Good show, I enjoyed it and with a bit of fate,... Maybe we'll meet somewhere in The Kingdom. Chok Dee na. Pete
You’re both so articulate and able to explain things clearly. Respect for each other is crucial in your relationship and it shows a lot! My husband and I will be in Koh Samui the whole month of January so hope to see a glimpse of you both!
I know exactly what you guys are talking about. After being an Expat for over 50 years, I had two fantastic marriages over 25 and 22 years where we started with translation books. Also the translation part when my or her friends we home. Learn more of each others language did solve it. You are so cute together, no reason for fighting… ever. When my second wife died suddenly after vaccine in 2022 It has torn my heart out. So be kind to each other. Never know how long we have each other. ❤️🌹✨🥂
Note's right - it's so mind-expanding to marry someone from another culture, opens the world & your future up so much. A great conversation and as a woman also married to a Thai man, we resonate with the things you say so much! Though funnily enough my husband's got a big Isaan family and he calls his aunties by number! Love this new channel ❤️
This is sucha sweet podcast so well done! You guys nailed it - active listening and speaking and showing up as true selves. Love how Note looks at Flora - we can feel the love and strength of your relationship. Flora speaks so well - I love her voice and can hear her talk for hours. I thought Note sounds like he is from HK without originally knowing he's a Thai!
The powder thing is relatable, especially if you live in a tropical place. I'm Chinese Malaysian, and I was raised using baby powder in a private area as an early school-aged child to remove the heat rash on sweaty spots. It did bring back memories when you guys mentioned it. I burst out laughing, too.
Thank you for another great video! As a married couple, my wife and I can relate to your cultural differences. I am also Thai, and my wife comes from mainland China. We have difficulty because of the language barrier. We have been through all that you two have been through and understand entirely, especially the baby powder (Prickly heat - snake brand). My wife and I have been married for 38 years and now have retired. The most challenging part of our relationship was when we had our first son, who almost cost us our marriage! I remember your last video talked about having a kid. My first response to that was a mixed feeling. First, I wish I could go back in time and never have a kid, but as of now, after seeing our son get married with success in life, my wife and I no longer regret having children. I'm not to discourage you from having kids, but I want you to be prepared!
I can relate to this video. Cross-cultural relationships can be amazing. My wife and I have been married for 27 years and our love is still going strong. We have always lived in Thailand but for several years we spent half the year in my country and she got to know where I came from. We have an unusual way of communicating these days where I speak English with her and she speaks Thai with me most of the time. Being able to speak each other's language does make social interactions much easier.
This is so fun! From a health perspective, leftover rice is better than fresh. The starch turned into resilient starch once cooled and stayed that way when reheated.
Congrats to both of you for being daring to speak out . I feel bad for both of you when you guys are in Canada, both of you suffered a lot there. Glad that's over, stay healthy and keep on traveling . ❤ from Georgetown Penang, Malaysia🇲🇾
I’m not sure what we said that made you think we suffered in Canada 😅 We had a great upbringing there and enjoyed our time there. We decided to move because we wanted to spend more time together and start traveling.
OMG this episode made me laugh to tears. The baby powder part was hilarious and I recognise myself into the part of having an argument and wanting to go sleep at the hotel 😅. My husband is from Laos and me from Vietnam, and we live in Canada, we also have language issues in family reunions and feel sometimes left out. I really like your podcast and it's a pleasure to listen to it on Spotify while driving to work. Have a nice day!
Hi again! Thank you for sharing such wonderful memories with us, especially both of your cultures. Note the game with the stick we, here in my home town NY, we call it Limbo. Many Family and Friends back home enjoyed that game as well. As always I enjoy both your channels because with one I travel along with you guys and with this one It reminds me of my own culture and life experiences as well. Always looking forward to a new video!!! Blessings to you both. 💜🙏
@@OTR_FloraandNote It's easy to forget, not too many people play the game anymore. You welcome! Thank you for also educated us on both your cultures and traditions. I personally love it!!! Have a bless day! 🙏💜
My husband is American and Cuban. English is my second language, he doesn't speak Spanish and we can relate to the same issues at family gatherings. We laugh because we have the same issue. I also used a lot of baby powder as a kid, my mom grew up with that custom too. 😂😂❤❤
Really insightful chat, thanks. Your different cultures definitely add to your relationship and travels and interactions with others. Re the drink temp thing room temp water is definitely better for hydration, chilled water is more likely to cause "shock" and just get sweated back out.
In our family we always have cooked rice ready and warm in the rice cooker and we mostly drink hot water only. Most Asian now speak multiple languages.
I have been a long-time follower of your other channel and love it. This channel is also equally great! Have you ever thought about or organized group trips?
@@OTR_FloraandNoteWonderful! I think my wife and I might consider it. I believe your calming, relaxing approach would work better for us than other group trips that tend to focus more on partying.
Hi Both.. Amazing information bout how it all started with both of you... As you go along about your relationship it triggered a sense of envy in my heart.. Don't worry.. Its a positive one❤... Note.. I didn't notice your biceps💪 until today..looking good there.. Flora.. U are always sweet and both of u do make a perfect couple.. Overall epic videos!! TC❤ Chris.. KL
I met a Thai guy in Thailand and invited him to dinner. He seemed very happy when I invited him-at least he appeared to be. However, on the day of the dinner, he couldn’t find the way to the restaurant despite me sending him the location beforehand. What should have been a one-minute drive took him 20 minutes. When he arrived, he sat at the restaurant, apologized for his clothes, and offered to help pay for dinner. Then he mentioned that he usually doesn’t eat dinner and wanted to leave early. What a weirdo! After this experience, I’ve lost any interest in dating Thai guys. If he doesn’t normally eat dinner and sticks to a strict routine, why bother going out for dinner in the first place? Some people have told me that Thai people avoid conflict and won’t directly say no, even if they don’t want to do something. This was such a culture shock for me. Honestly I would have preferred if he had just refused the dinner, that way I could have kept a good impression of him.
My thai wife and I as a Cantonese guy are 99% similar to what you two describe in the video! I thought we were the only couple that had such problems. And we didn't know who to talk to and to ask for solution. 😂
I just want to remind everyone that in one TH-cam live, Note said that he'll get Flora an elephant when the main channel reaches 1M subs. Let's make it happen!
The most obvious reason why your relationship works is because you both have an obvious bridge already, being Canadian/western culture. A typical Thai and typical Hongkee would find it a whole lot more challenging.
In Malaysia we do a similar thing, especially older people like my great grandmother was still around. They like to use menthol cooling powder on their face. I don't use the menthol one but I do use baby powder under my boobs to try and keep in dry in the humid weather here.
@13:45 Baby Powder where the sun doesn't shine?! Hahahahaha! You just never know what random or obscure cultural fact you are doing to learn from Flora and Note. I guess if it works. It gets pretty hot and humid in here in Tokyo. I guess I'll have to try that in the summer.
😂 athe first words most non Cantonese speakers in Malaysia learn Cantonese are the bad words too 😂 Leftover rice we will just make fried rice the next day after keeping it in the fridge 😂
it's dirty to sit on someone's bed in street clothes cause your street clothes are dirty. imagine taking the new york subway to your friends house and then you sit on their bed with the same clothes on lol. a lot of chinese people don't like it when you sit on their beds with your street clothes on so i fully understand.
“ hiiiiii I’m Flora” 🥺 The fact that Note remembered it so well is sooo adorable.
Loving these videos guys!
Another wonderful feel good podcast! We can't wait for the next one!
Thanks you guys!
Loved to hear about your love story 😍

The rice situation is interesting. I'm malaysian so I think we cook differently to Thai people too.
Canadian side is sooooo interesting!

Hahaha I’m sure there are more of us out there 😂 But all these challenges make for a more exciting and joyful marriage haha
As a thai, I can relate to the baby powder. And as I get older, I find that I need it more 🤣
😂😂😂
I just want to remind everyone that in one TH-cam live, Note said that he'll get Flora an elephant when the main channel reaches 1M subs. Let's make it happen!
Hahaha hopefully by then we also have a house for the elephant to live in 🤣
Let's assume he meant it figurly😊, but nevertheless, let's go for that 1M.🙏😊

Baby powder from 7-11, always part of my first stop after landing in the Kingdom!

I wonder if you can find it easily in Japan. We couldn’t find baby powder in Korea 😂
nice couple
good catch man
your wife is buitifull and cute
Is the man of the channel of Chinese descent? Many Thais are descended from Hokkien Cantonese
Not that I know of… my parents are both from Isan Thailand and there’s a little bit of Vietnamese from my Mom’s side.
He is definitely Thai.
😂 athe first words most non Cantonese speakers in Malaysia learn Cantonese are the bad words too 😂
Leftover rice we will just make fried rice the next day after keeping it in the fridge 😂
Hahaha or freeze the rice and use it to make congee 😂
Note reminds me of a actor call zhuyawen🤩
Come to Australia
Indian and Chinese say cold water is bad for our health
Interesting! We didn’t know Indians thought that too
❤❤
My husband uses baby powder everyday and we live in Minnesota. I told him he needs to use it in the shower only so no powder everywhere 😅
it's dirty to sit on someone's bed in street clothes cause your street clothes are dirty. imagine taking the new york subway to your friends house and then you sit on their bed with the same clothes on lol. a lot of chinese people don't like it when you sit on their beds with your street clothes on so i fully understand.
Yup😂
Couldn't agree more
Correction, my husband is American and Iam Cuban 😂😂😂
Why note is so cute
Thai Overnite rice… is unique. Mostly most Chinese will keep in fridge and fly lice paradise tomorrow!!!
The Limbo
Baby powder is clutch.
Leftover rice is better for fried rice...
Rambutan, longan are hot food
i think hes chinese thai...doesnt look thai at all
