    I think I remember a myth about Ares where he heard that his daughter was raped by Poseidon's son and so he killed him. Poseidon then had Ares tried to the Olympians but he got acquitted
    It seems like he does care for his children judging by how he would rage when something happens to them so he has my respect.

    I find it hilarious that they praised Athena and disliked Ares. They funny part is that Sparta who worshipped Ares and Athens who worshipped Athena fought constantly. However even though Athena always beats Ares in battle, Sparta would kick the ever loving crap out of Athens .

      I can't say I've even heard of these (La llarona, Allerleirauh, Diamonds and Toads, and The Robber Bridegroom)
      So I'd like to know more.
      Is Pretty Goldilocks separate from just Goldilocks and the 3 Bears?
      And I cannot find a comprehensive story of "Snow White & Rose Red." They typically are completely separate tales, and characters. With no mention of one another in their respective stories, and there are a ton of R.R. stories out there that don't match, or even have passing similarities among them. I suspect they are relatively newer stories posing as legends, and folk tales.
      Does anybody know?

    • @yvesforbesfloresiii461
      @yvesforbesfloresiii461 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@CieJe.Alexander The Story of Pretty Goldilocks is a more different story and it's not connected to Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but anyways, here is the summary of the story:
      A princess was so beautiful and had such golden hair that she was known as Pretty Goldilocks. A neighboring king fell in love with her from her description, but much to the king's disappointment, she rejected his ambassador, saying she had no wish to be married. A young courtier and royal favorite, called Charming, told his friends that if he had gone, she would have accepted, and the king threw him in prison. He lamented his fate, and the king, hearing, told him what he had said was the cause of it. Charming said that he would have drawn such a picture of the king as to make him irresistible to her, and the king decided to send him. On the way, he helped a carp that was out of water, a raven being chased by an eagle, and an owl caught in a net; each one promised to help him.
      When he attempted to bring his master's suit before the princess, she told him that she had lost a ring in the river and was so vexed that she would not listen to any suit unless the ambassador brought back her ring. His dog, Frisk, advised him to try, and the carp brought him the ring. When he brought it to Goldilocks, she told him that a giant who was a prince had tried to marry her and was troubling her subjects. She could not listen unless he killed the giant. He went to fight it, and with the raven's aid in pecking the giant's eyes during the fight, he succeeded. Goldilocks refused unless he brought her some water from the Fountain of Health and Beauty, and the owl fetched the water for him.
      The princess agreed then and made preparations to go and marry the king, although she at times wished they could stay, and she would marry Charming. Charming refused to be disloyal to his king.
      Goldilocks married the king but remained fond of Charming, and Charming's enemies told the king that she praised him so highly, he should be jealous. The king had Charming thrown in a tower. When Goldilocks begged for his freedom, the king refused, but decided to rub his face with the water from the Fountain of Health and Beauty to please her. A maid had broken that bottle, though, and replaced it with another, not knowing the other bottle was actually a potent poison used for executing nobles by rubbing their faces with it.
      Frisk came to the queen and asked her not to forget Charming, and the queen immediately released him and married him.

      @@yvesforbesfloresiii461 Wow! Really good summary. Reminds me of the old Grimm tales where the hero meets people and/or collects items that just happen to be exactly what is ultimately called for. Like; The (aforementioned)12 Dancing Princesses, The Princess Who Wouldn't Laugh, or The Brave Little Tailor. I was always partial to the Three Sillies, and The Theives of Bremman My Grandpa used to tell them with such voices, and sounds they came to life. I love collecting (new to me) old folk tales.
      Lately I've been trying to wrap my head around the old Irish Tales of Fionn.
      What I like here is that Charming was, clever and kind, and loved by his smart dog. And. I hope - you didn't specify - he and Pretty Goldilocks went on to wisely rule both kingdoms!
      Thank you so much. You brought back happy memories.

    Mars (Aries) in Roman mythology was actually praised more. He had both brain and brawns. He was far better than Athena and how the Greeks depicted him. Highly respected and worshipped by the Roman's for his tactical intellect, wisdom, bravery, prowess and so forth. Minerva was the Roman Athena equivalent in mythology. You might have to redo that portion John. But great video as always!

    • @climatepurification
      @climatepurification ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, Aries served a much larger role than supporters of other Gods did not want known. It must be remembered that Gods have egos much like children when addressing each other. No God likes being outshined. Aries actually understood the necessity of war as related to human kind much like bloodletting to cleanse, but the reason for war must be worthy of his involvement. This is why the other Gods had to respect his existence as the God and Judge of war. His presence brought order and honor to the house otherwise the acts of Gods would be nothing much more than a soap opera. As far as sibling issues, as most with siblings understand sometimes the strongest sibling allows the other to shine brighter because of the family love the stronger sibling has or in some cases the necessity to maintain stability/balance. These are the aspects much overlooked. Aries served his kind well and was subject to the weaknesses present with powers of extreme emotion or situations. His wisdom maintained the higher role of Gods, to attack him was to attack the honor of the Gods but it was discovered he would only fight in later existence when the purpose was honorable, otherwise he would not raise his brow. The symbology of picking your fights that many men no longer understand.

They are the same deity Mars is Ares regardless. Everyone knows this. If you take a history/religion/mythology course in college. It will cover and tell you that as well. Just how the Japanese and Chinese share a lot of the same deities, beliefs, etc. Though some may be slightly altered, there's no major significant difference. In their roles that they play.

    Perhaps the moral of the stories is that the blind fury of Ares is actually quite stupid and leads to scrapes which it's probably not a great thing to do.
    By contrast, the wisdom, leadership and 'virtue' of Athena is much to be prized.

    Next time you go for a weird variant, like having Ares be the father of Nike, could you warn us that this isn't the usual version. Better yet could you pull together enough material to do a messed up origins episode about Nike? Maybe a messed up origins episode about Styx would make more sense. You could briefly introduce the other rivers of the underworld and the origins of the river deities then do a deep dive into her family, including Nike, as well as the Romanized version of Achilles heal.

      In the original cut of Star Wars, Han Solo shot Greedo first in the canteen. It was a great little moment for showing that this character was a rebel playing by no one else's rules, and let you know what to expect of him. When they re-released the first movie after the prequels, they re-edited it so Greedo shot first, launching a blowback among fans with the tagline, "Han shot first."
      He says it as a play on this, since his name, Jon Solo, sounds similar to Han Solo.

      Claw Debt well because Jesus didn’t write any stories and bible was writen after his death and was written by the same people who killed him and they did that because people stop believing in Roman and sadistic conquering so they start to think new ways to control the people and the Greeks looking at the success of their pagan gods they gave the idea to create a new religion. And then the Roman start collecting fairytale stories and change their title and called it the Bible.

      Banele Makhanya what’s the difference you all believe in one god and you all read one bible. Spare me the nonsense please. There is 500 religions in the world, people will believe anything that gives them hope. And it’s nothing wrong with it. Its proven that believe in god or gods motivate humans to overcome themselves and to become better. But my problem with relegion is the churches and this priests who only care about money and power, yeah some of them have good intentions but the rest and starting with the pope who never cared about the people but only for his throne which after the roman empire fell he tried so desperativly to protect. After all was not the Christians in the Middle Ages who drowned people who refused to convert to Christianity and Muslim Turks burned alive theirs to convert them to Islam. So get you facts straight my friend. It’s not always as they say. I know every country and every nation has their own version of history and half of that is propaganda bullshit. Wake up my friend don’t think civilization started 2020 years ago. Humans history is way longer then that
