Jordan, good video. Your smoking is more than likely the valve stem seals. It’s a very common thing on these engines. They’re replaceable, you can buy genuine Nissan ones for around $60. There are videos out there how to do it yourself. It’s not a issue if you don’t replace them. Old seals allows oil to slip by and drip into the cylinders which cause smoke on start up. You have some build up on a couple pistons which could be from the same issue. Also you can turn off the injectors by pulling the injector power wire that attached to the positive terminal of your battery.
@@JordanPayneLV It’s not a tolerance issue, these seals just get old and need replacement. When you turn off your engine the oil left in the head slips by the old valve stem seals. The oil drips into the cylinders. You can see the fresh oil that dripped on your cylinder walls in the camera shots you took.
Enjoyed your video!!! Car is gorgoeus!! Im re building my wifes 240z on my channel but gonna be installing motor and trans from our donor 280z. I subbed. Your engine is clean too!!
When you have triple webers like me, you tend to ignore any smoke coming out the back haha. For the amount of smoke you were producing and based on your compression results and internal condition of the walls, I say you are fine. You can redo the compression test and add some oil in each of the cylinders and see if the compression goes up by a decent amount would indicate your rings are worn. Otherwise your valve stem seals might be bad or potentially your head gasket is going bad but like I said, not enough smoke imo to worry about anything.
Maybe in the future I’ll do a leak down test to make sure my head gasket isn’t the culprit, but yeah I agree my anxiety is definitely better after these tests
Good vid man and all owners should be doing a test to check. Not sure how old your engine is but 150s is def on the low side. One think to potentially check is your PCV valve. Mine clogged and started smoking in the exhaust and excessive oil consumption. It actually blew out the rear main seal. Something so cheap and simple led to a much bigger fix.
Love the video Jordan, might do this test to mine. Random question. Does your FPR read 0 right after you shut the car off? Or does it hold pressure? I have the same set up and mine dies instantly after shutting the car off. Thanks
if you don't have any cat, it's just maybe some rich exhaust fumes because of the precedent revs returning to idling. ECU wants to regulate all of that and bim richier combustion for a small moment
@@JordanPayneLV normally yes, but most of the times it's greyish (we don't have Cummins right?) so maybe with the camera and back colors, we never know! or maybe you're putting E85! haha
I saw low compression Pistons. Not flat top high compression Pistons. Adding a turbo set up with protunerZ Parts would be better than a 3.0... Funny jasper has no record of a motor, they built. They would have to have inventoried it, built it, then sold it, recording it's exists.

Good to know! Tolerances on these old motors aren’t as tight as modern engines so that makes sense 👌🏻

That camera you used go in the spark plug hole is sooo cool.
Right?? And only $20!
Good news Jordan. This is what we are interested in on the plane too. Cylinder compressions, engine wear & oil burn. Great info!
Thanks for watchin 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🦹🏼

Thank you! Good luck on your swap and feel free to ask any questions if you run into them. 🙌🏻

AWESOME VID MY DUDE
Ayeeee Chris, thanks for watching my man 🙌🏻

That’s a good point, I did, however… remove mine haha so that may be it

The pressure shouldn’t instantly drop to 0, it should hold some pressure and slowly bleed away. I would look for leaks somewhere 🙏🏻

It definitely could be, I thought a rich afr made black smoke though? No?

Yeah they told me that over the years they’ve reused serial numbers and this is one of those reused ones. So I guess we’ll never know!
