The REAL question: is Master Kohga actually Tingle?!
Thanks for watching guys! Sorry about the audio!!
MaskedNintendoBandit
If he is then I’m glad he’s dead
Maybe 🤔
Maybe the yiga clan choose there because they knew the hero could access a shrine and we're waiting for him to attend it then attack him then master kuga got tired and ganed weight . Ohh and when kuga fell down he met tingle
...I knew Kohga reminded me of someone. Now I know. Aaand...I can’t...ever...unsee!!!
Yes
Who would have thought we would get a legitimate, and insane, answer to this question in tears of the kingdom
Right??? It's fascinating

There aren't any bathrooms in hyrule at all though.

@@Tristan_jpg and, to be honest, that's a very elegant solution
But Ganondorf isn't covered in poo in the trailer

To be fair, the pit probably isn’t climbable because they didn’t want you hiding there for the boss fight
Somehow you're overlooking this and yet also not... ?
I'm sure they were thinking about it but not exactly; Don't think anyone is that manical to do that anyways.
Interesting point, but likely it isn't climbable, for the sake of it being a pit; You get Sparta 300'd into it and live, it shouldn't be easy to escape.
With that being said:
1. Nothing's down there
2. Any player wanting to follow Kohga down the hole ""dies."" So it's just a casual pit.
@@dunkleosteusterrelli I was thinking. If it is somehow connected to Ganon, what about that Sheika that foresaw the revival of Calamity Ganon.
This is the easiest boss fight

I think its an storage area for their ever growing hoard of bananas.
Courtney R of coarse where else would you store enough bananas for the yiga clan
I knew the Tiki Taka’s were part of Zelda canon...
thats where they put the mushy ones
If that’s the case, then Master Kohga is living in luxury right now
Donkey Kongs hoard before the calamity. Guarded by Tingle. Housing a dungeon entrance sealing an undead K. Rool
You weren't supposed to figure that out.
Now we have to delay BoTW 2 for three more years just to put this pit in another part of the map.

ShadowDragonGamer 476 Imagine at the start of botw 2 we see and play as link looking at then battling an army of the yiga clan while an epic theme is playing, then finding the hole and jumping down to start off as the first d dungeon in the game.
I always thought that since the walls were unclimable, it was decorated, and there were no railings around the pit, that the yiga had dug it to throw link into once they had captured and/or killed him, but that the plan had failed after master kohga fell into it
When you're The top banana of the yiga clan, you have a long way to fall

something about the pit being "an entrance to ganondorf" makes me very uncomfortable
Oooooh my

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
what do you mean? he's 🔥
It’s the Ganonussy
Ganon is a gerudo, so summoning him in the gerudo region makes sense
They didn't summon him. He is most likely the Twilight princess Ganon, as there are a lot of little clues pointing towards that. The chest leaking malice *Where he got stabbed by the spirit sword, and then master sword* His neck snapping back into place when he wakes up *Him fixing his neck after Zant broke it* Very similar headpiece. There are more similarities and I don't remember them all, but this is most likely the body of Twilight Princess Ganon. Since they couldn't really just... bury the king of evils body in the dirt somewhere, they had to SEAL him with sheikah magic, so he could not return to wreak havoc!
Doesn’t he just take the form of a gerudo
@@lubednoodle I'm pretty sure he was the last male to be born.
No he isn't even a human he can't have race he is evil encarnit
Big brain
link jumps into the hole. he quickly falls as everything fades into an ever absorbing abyss... before opening his eyes.
link looks around and finds himself in a horse drawn carriage, and bound by his hands. to his left an older man with blond hair sits opposite you and a man in armor is controlling the carriage. to your right there are two others, also bound by their hands and looking rather mad. the man to your left, makes eye contact with link, and says the following:
"hey you. you're finally awake."
I figured it out at horse drawn carriage.
O my lord 😂
hEY! I KNOW THAT REFERENCE!!
It all makes sense now. Kohga must've discovered the depths and wondered about after regaining consciousness. No wonder his clan thought he died. After he somehow emerged from the depths, he took his clan to gain knowlege of Zonai technology which is why they were far more ahead than the Sheikah.
Now with the second game almost out, I think these pits lead to the underground caverns, it's very likely that we'll find the leader down there.
Spot on
You def are a nintendo dev lmao

Coming back to this video a year later, with the new trailers for the sequel I really think that the two pits discussed here could be one of the entrances to the underground exploration. Maybe there are tunnels and caves that eventually lead to Hyrule Castle or even the Sheika technology that lies underneath Hyrule Castle (like the observatory)
Heh ur theory was so close. I'm commenting on this vid to remind people of their theories now that we have the answer lol
Maybe it's a big underground area with enemies that make your unable to heal

@@da_xbox360 no there’s no Pokémon down there either. Lol.
What if a Divine Beast shot a blast straight down into the ground or up and out of it to make the hole? You can clearly see in BOTW that literal mountain has a similarly perfectly circular hole cut in it.
I'm not sure but I might remember that you also can't climb the walls in the mountains hole
Also why is it decorated?
But also hebra peak has a hole which could have had the same thing happen there
Vaishnavi Kumar probably to mock a potential failure of the Sheikah, and they are talking about Hebra mountain

/WOOOOOOOSH
Damn bro that's a convincing theory
NO WAY!
My brain: "master kohga of course. Who else?"
Spoilers for Tears of the kingdom-
It leads to the depths. Master Kohga isn’t dead, he’s just lost in the depths. You can find him actually- though it initiates a boss fight.
In the time he’s been trapped there, many of his yiga soldiers have joined him in setting up new bases, and they’ve mastered the art of zonai construction as well, using cars and planes very effectively.
Master Kohga no longer just summons big spiked balls, he also summons full on cars and what not. Pretty cool honestly
he is now forklift certified
I think it's much more simple than all of this: it's a sheikah puzle which also doubles as an execution pit. It is decorated because some people like making executions and sacrifices very ceremonial.
That explains why they have a pit, it's for executing people to ganon.
THIS IS HYRULE! *kick*
I just watched a man analyse a pit for 8 and a half minutes.
And I loved it.
Lmao
it felt like a mere second...
Imagine its like, an entire new hyrule thats just a massive cavern filled with weird things and inverse topography
It’s the depths
They made their hideout by the hole because they knew it was the key to a Sheika shrine and they knew link would have to go their one day. The decorations were just to make it look as friendly as possible- BAM a million yiga clan members slaughter link.
That’s one heck of a plan
I support this!
“Construction through deconstruction known as...”

Hey! You referenced my article! :D I was the writer of the RGM article that has the Yiga theory about Ganon emerging from it.
And I greatly enjoyed it too :)
@@BanditGames Thank you! It means a lot. I hope you read the Master Sword one too.
I shared your video on my social media accounts by the way.
Dash Bomber That theory is officially what I believe (: very well written.
I am glad you enjoyed it. If you guys enjoy reading my stuff, I write on Medium.com as well. I am not covering video games nearly as much, but I do cover a range of topics. I appreciate the likes and shares too.
This theory came about because nobody was talking about where Ganon came from and the hole struck me as odd. I also have an interesting theory about the Master Sword if anyone wants to read that one.
It's no longer readable since the domain name expired on Dec. 1st.
Watching this with the context of TotK is actually funny.
The Yiga knew that this pit was supposed to be used by Link to summon the Shrine, thus deciding to build a whole hideout around it to hinder him as much as possible.
It’s a sacrificial pit to Ganon which helped resurrect him.
I'd like to add to that, it was also a execution put where they'd throw prisoners and trators
And the rotting corpses made the malice that Gannon is made of
That explains all the rats down therr
HEY
Build the rescue helicopter!
I think it might be a well
Reasons
1. There is actually a sheet of water under all of the map ( (this was used for game design purposes)
2. There in a desert where there is vary little water.
They could have easily have dug it looking for water to drink, hence the reason they built there base around it
I like that. very realistic theory that incorporates a quirk of game design as something practical in-universe.
All though that does make sense. A lot of sense actually. I really hope it’s not that because there could really be an awesome story with this hole. I personally think/hope it’s where Ganon is sealed and it’s where the botw2 trailer takes place.
But did you see the lines in the wall of the pit? To me that looks like some sort of water that dug this pit within centuries. Cause if you look at canyons in the real world you will see those edges to.
@@owensnider4208 I doubt all that, yes they worship Ganon, but why would Ganon emerge at Hyrule castle if his body was all the way in Gerudo desert? Also there is a huge lack of malice anywhere near Yiga hideout. To top it all off, Ganon isn't surrounded by sandstone in the trailer, he's surrounded by darker gray rock, very similar to the rock of the mines under Hyrule Castle. So it's quite unlikely in my eyes that he is under the Yiga hole.
Something for sacrifices? That’s why it would be smooth so the thing (or person) being thrown in could not climb out
Well now we know its a scary scary place down there
Real
I fkn hate the depths
Theory: the hole was created by a misfired weapon from one of the Devine Beasts. In game if you look at Hebra Peak there is a nearly cylindrical hole it the mountain face that according to the creating a champion book was created by Vah Medoh firing upon the calamity 10,000 years ago. Perhaps the Yiga hole is due to Vah Naboris misfiring???? Who knows
The pit is probably an 8th of the size of the Hebra Mountain hole, so probably not
I also doubt an accidental firing of the beam would be aimed straight down. The divine beast would have to have been standing right above and aiming straight downward
Ru ! Did you literally just copy the comment above you? 😂
Again, I don't think that's the case, the hole in hebra peak is way larger, and the blast turned all the rock in the hole to a glassy gneous rock, while the yiga pit is small, and you can see the layers of rock that is not igneous.
Why would he aim at the ground? Was there a spider in his house again?
This hit differently now that I've finished Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamities.
Actually it's just Ganondorf hand mergeing him to be more powerful like in twilight princess
The fact that you can't even see the bottom of the pit is terrifying.
Considering it’s in Gerudo Desert of all places, this is worth considering
also the fact that there are smaller statues of the 8 heroines in the hideout
Daniel Delgado in the concept art book it says that the yoga hideout was an old gerudo archeological site so it might be of ancient gerudo design like the 7 heroines
Yeah and She once said Ganon once took form of a gerudo
When you said the thing about how the Yiga use an upside-down sheikah eye as their symbol of defection, I instantly thought of Demise and how he uses an upside-down triforce as his own symbol. Might be food for thought.
Wasn't this actually confirmed somewhere in one of the games? That they use the inverted symbol of their enemies? Or maybe I've seen too many Zelda theory videos point it out lol.
In either case, good observation. I love all the little details you can find in the Zelda lore.
And now we know this in totk
I think it was either used for sacrifices or executions because of the slippery walls and lack of a hand rail
On my first play trough of botw a friend pranked me telling me that the best armor in the game was down the yiga hole and I paraglided down there losing two minutes of my life and a full heart
lmfao
He probably meant Tears of the Kingdom LMAO
@@nowonmetube bruh this was made 2 years ago
Theory: Mighty Bananas used to grow all over Hyrule but they ate them all so now they can only grow in Faron.
Theory: The Yiga clan is trying to monopolize the mighty banana market without the rest of the world realizing it.
And on Eventide Island
@@alexandertownsend3291 It all makes sense now!
i think the pit is to test new yuga clan members. Since they can teleport, they probably have some sort of test or ritual to make sure you know the teleportation spells where they make you jump into the pit and teleport out before you hit the ground. sorta like a trial by fire.
A whole big-ass new map
Looks like blast beam from a divine beast type laser, shot directly downward. That could explain the depth, perfect shape, size and smoothness of the rock. maybe check to see how close the diameter of the yiga hole is to the one in hebra peak.
The rock is still sandstone, it didn't turn into a glassy substance like at Hebra Peak.
The content people can make for this game will NEVER die and I’m here for it
I just realized at the start of the video that the big Yiga whistle by bringing their hand to their mask... hum... that's not how that works... lol.
Lol I accidentally jumped down there after defeating him lol

Dungeon entrance baby! i also really hope they introduce dungeons in Botw 2 as a spelunking type deal. go down deep into hyrule then emerging to the overworld throughout the game.
Crunch Punky
Same, honestly, and lots of underwater and volcanic/lava tubes ones too.
It...just makes the best use of BotW’s returning overworld since you’d have to take various paths above to reach below. Plus, you know, foraging and restocking before Going Below (although I’m personally hoping for a Zonai Underground Society...with lots of towns/cities you crash into, probably with shops but the shops have a huuuuuge upcharge. So it’s either Forage/Purchase Above (longer but cheap), or Purchase Below (MUCH more direct, but rip rupees...still not a bad thing, rupees almost never have a true use so you’re looking for ways to toss them)
And the further you progress, the more interconnected the Surface and Underground become (and not just for Secrets and Shortcuts)
Plus, Terry Town and BotW’s ending scene promised restoration and reconciliation, so if I don’t get that with towns being rebuilt and Growing Pains with this Brave New Hyrule and uncovering Skeletons in the Closet from *HYRULE’S Sins* then...I’m...gonna be massively dissapointed
This is the most likely scenario in my mind, not "Ganon's location" or "A divine beast beam hole"
Because they wanted a way for link to kill the leader without showing link killing a human like person
I forget link kills half the time he doesnt pussy foot about with it
He kind of does kill the other yiga clan members

3rd El Tercero cucco* and it probably still kills u
It’s likely somewhere in between. It’s occasionally implied in game that there’s a large amount of stuff beneath hyrule, so it could both be an entrance to much more stuff down there and also the shrine puzzle
I was replaying the fight with Master Kohga the other day after having seen the trailer for Age of Calamity. I'm 99% sure based on his introduction speech and "goofy" actions that they were trying to figure out how to represent that he was over 100 like Impa and Robbie without showing any skin or stating it outright. The Yiga Clan respects him because he has lead them over 100 years, despite the fact that many of their warriors are now stronger than him physically due to his age.
Tingle is actually calamity Ganon, because he passed away between ocarina of time/Majora's mask time, and his bloodline carried on, becoming more and more corrupted by the malice, becoming the Calamity Ganon we know today, in the master trials dlc, you can get the tingles outfit, hinting that tingle is dead
Wrong: Tingle bacem Master Kohga. It fits so well.
Tingle was transformed into the horned statue by the goddess Hylia ;)
Wrong: Tingle can not die.
I wish the game had more sections like this, overall, having more indoors sections like this or Hyrule castle would be pretty cool, maybe in the sequel.
I wish we got to see the transformation of hyrule castle after defeating ganon and the ruins back to their original condition
Bad news, no open world in the sequal at this point. So all this is pointless if we're going to be playing an "on rails" story
@@noplace4akitty047 how do you know? Did they announce this info recently?
@@rickydargence5948 from everything I've seen and heard at this point, its heavily story based non open world brawler. I'm very disappointed.
@@noplace4akitty047 That's not a sequel, that's Hyrule warriors, a prequel-spinoff
Well, turns out it was the depths
I tried to calculate how deep it is by using the time it travels until we hear it landing on the ground
and I counted 3,8 Seconds which would mean it is 70m deep but this don't really make sense so wasted time :(
Don’t forget: the Yiga Clan Hideout is an abandoned Gerudo settlement. There are Gerudo letters and phrases on the pillars in the first room, and some external source (I think the Masterworks Book?) confirms this. Maybe the Gerudo have something to do with the pit?
Also, I saw in a Boundary Break video which used camera hacks that the pit does indeed have a bottom. I wonder if anything was changed with the release of the DLC because the Sheikah orb makes a sound in the pit.
kogha also makes a loud bump when hitting the bottom
Well, you must think that the pit HAS to have a bottom from a modeling stand point, or else it would look super weird
And the orb down the pit trial is from Urbosas song, plus we see in a memory link has of Urbosa of her using Urbosas fury to strike down yiga meaning they've been around even before the calamity.
6:50 When the game comes out, I'm going to come back to this video, edit my comment and say "YOU WERE RIGHT.". See you in two years.
Edit: Nintendo played us and they twisted the plot! I can't say that you were right anymore!
Now thats dedication.
If anybody reads this after release and still no edit, please reply!
@@kjn3350 That'd help. Yes, please.
I’ll be back
And if he is wrong? Because I personally think it's rather unlikely. Due to the strong lack of malice ANYWHERE near the Yiga hideout. If Ganon's malice emerged from the hole, don't you think there would be some trace of malice in the hole? There would be SOME malice somewhere near the Yiga hideout, where there just isn't any. It's either more likely a dried up well, a really deep well, or a dungeon entrance .
3 years later….we discover that it was the depths
Reasons why it couldn't be the entrance to Ganondorf's Temple:
1. Ganondorf's Temple is heavily adorned by Zonai (Ancient Warlike Tribe in the FARON REGION) so it could not be located within the Gerudo region.
2. If the Temple was reachable by the Yiga, and they KNEW about it, don't you think the Temple in the trailer would be Guarded/Decorated by the Yiga?
3. Master Kohga is not Tingle bc we already have another reference in BOTW.
4. The Yiga Clan would probably be protecting the hole to a higher extent than just a fat man who can make big rock go brrrrrr.
5. In the trailer, did you see any places where a hole might be in the Temple? NOPE!
If you have a valid counterargument, please respond. I appreciate constructive criticism of my claims!
Counter-argument to point 5: correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall seeing the Divine Beasts in the BOTW trailer
@@emmasilver2332 valid point, but it seems like something they would add
Counter-argument to point 1: Botw is a soft reboot of the franchise, any event that occured in the past games shall not be taken into account here, in this timeline ganondorf could be anywhere

I always thought they used it as an execution site/body disposal tool. Khoga interrogates people using his abilities and, normally, they wouldn't stand a chance seeing as they don't have the Sheika Slate to help them. Once the subject has died or Khoga has had enough they get thrown down the whole.
That’s what I was thinking
Okay, how the hell did you know there was something down there? I’m accusing you of having supernatural powers.
Guys i think it might be a Chasm
“ I’m kidding”
Lol when you first said he was Tingle out loud I went “woooow”
And now we know
3:10 couldn’t even hear what our bro was saying because I was just thinking “OMG GET OUT OF THE WAY THIS OTHER CAR IS TRYING TO ESCAPE A DEATH PIT”
I like the theory of it being Ganon’s “respawn” place. It reminds me of some D&D monsters... namely the Tarrasque, liches, vampires, and mummy lords.
The Tarrasque is said to live deep underground in hibernation and rarely emerge to eat, burrowing out of the earth, rampaging for a week or two, then digging back underground to resume its slumber.
Vampires, liches, and mummy lords are all undead creatures who create a sort of “respawn” point or mechanism so that they can come back to life after being slain. For vampires, it’s their coffin or grave, for liches, it’s a phylactery that they create, and for mummy lords, it’s their heart. If these are destroyed, they die.
In retrospect, the Tarrasque point wasn’t hugely relevant but it is what sparked this comment and led me to the second point: what if Ganon can be destroyed by destroying some sort of “core” or heart? What if it is hidden down in that pit, guarded by his loyal followers so that no harm befalls it?
Interestingly in the 13 episode Zelda cartoon from the 80s, Ganon and his monsters respawned like that in a giant hourglass looking thing.
love the pfp
Everyone knows a Sarlacc resides in there.
Yes, the one that ate Boba Fett's step-brother
You have my respect
While Ganondorf could be sealed in the pit, Calamity Ganon couldn’t have come from it because he was specifically sealed beneath Hyrule Castle and emerged there. Unless you are talking about the original Calamity from 10,000 years ago, then it’s possible.

Maybe the Yiga accidentally unearthed some Sheika stuff while digging as they tried to expand their base.
One idea I haven't seen anyone else mention yet: It's the entrance to a cavern containing another divine beast. Think about it: there was a fifth beast underneath the shrine of resurrection, so who's to say the sheikah didn't make even more of them? If anything they might've made dozens of the mechs.
timemadscientist Greatscot! Wasn’t there a divine beast in one of the Ancient tech labs?!
There was a fifth? How do you know? I mean, in which part of the game do you discover it?
@@eatmypanart it's in the dlc
@@brqe The whale looking one, which I always believed was going to be in the 3rd DLC. And the 3rd DLC is now Botw 2, which I think and hope will add REAL swimming! A whole new massive depth to the botw world!!

"Well- I mean hole!"
You tryna say that this is the well from OoT? Return of the Dead Hand, who'se body is now Yingle?
Well. Now we know.
Koga: (plumits to his death)
Me: Im sure he's fine.
😂
I think its a lot more simple than that:
The pit was originally made by Sheika as part of a shrine quest
The pit was then re-purposed by the Yiga for executions/sacrifices, explaining how decorated it is (and lack of handrails)
Ami-Gerudo Fault.
Yiga Clan: "This is our hole! It was made for us!"
No. Stop that.
I completely erased from my mind that hole from BOTW, I thought it was something new in TOTK, now it's very logical why the place is full of Yiga clan ninjas, it makes me think that the Depths was somehow an idea during pre-production of BOTW
This video aged like a fine wine.
