Honestly, the references to the dumpling’s catastrophe is great in my opinion and very relatable. It’s a moment they have shared together. It’s an inside joke. Just like many of us have inside jokes with friends and family, or how couples can laugh together at awkward things in the past. Great stuff. Characters being relatable is one of the biggest reason people watch/read/play (in a generalised term; consume) stories. How are we going to care about people who aren’t like us in some way?

The only silly thing about the burning building scene has nothing to do with the game but rather my choice of costume the first time I played. I was using the cartoon costume unaware of what was going to happen in the scene, so we have a serious scene of danger and drama and the entire time Spiderman is a 2D cartoon.
She’s honestly just fine in the Insomniac games, but I’ll definitely take her over Kirsten Dunst any day. Still can’t beat 90’s Animated Series version though.

I generally really like insomniac’s MJ. Perhaps she finds herself in scenarios that do suspend my disbelief a bit. Like Sable Bases, Hunter infested areas or the symbiote nests. Sure, she got some Sable training off screen in between games. But still… I wouldn’t expect that to allow her to beat so many hunters, who likely have trained a lot longer. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her characterisation. She’s flawed in the first game. She struggles with ‘being the one who always gets saved’. She intentionally didn’t call Peter at GCT, because she didn’t think he would let her be in any kind of danger. This is what made the relationship not work. And near the end, they kind of find a middle ground and are able to put blind trust in one another. (21:48 I found this argument to be a really strong phrasing of what I though of MJ’s and Peter’s relationship issues). I would have liked for MJ’s relationship issues to be basically exclusive to her being Scream. I would have liked to see MJ and Peter have a conversation about that without tight spandex and symbiote goo.

The hate is overblown, but for me it’s just that I’d rather stealth as Spider-Man. Plus it is a little too ridiculous to me that the teams of lifelong hunters and the alien invaders couldn’t find her. To me that wrecks immersion, and the gameplay is ass. Not that I hate her character (I feel like she deserved a lot more in SM2), I think Insomniac MJ has a lot of potential. Just never had enough of a chance to thrive given the gameplay and lacking story content.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t like here attitude in the first game. The whole breakup thing was unnecessary. I’m just getting sick of the relationship drama between Peter & MJ in stories. She didn’t tell Peter about Li’s Grand Central plans for very selfish reasons and it got a cop killed. Then she pins the blame on Peter. Completely terrible. Even her reasons for breaking up with Peter seem selfish. I understand that Peter being overprotective may be a bit irritating, but can you blame him? He’s gone through a terrible loss before and she does take foolish risks. I’m glad she acts better in Spiderman 2. I think that they should’ve been a couple already in the first game and at the end of the second game they would get married. Simple.

Alright let’s go over this one by one. Firstly, MJ doesn’t blame Pete about Grand Central. If anything she’s the one that calls Peter for help after things went south. Heck the reason she went to grand central in the first place is because not only are the Demon’s going there, but because Sable, you know the *advance military force* is just flat out ignoring grand central. Not to mention, She didn’t tell Peter about Li’s plans cause she literally didn’t even know what their plan is. All they know is that it could be linked to Devil’s Breath. Which they already know about. In fact Standish was about to tell MJ what the Demons were gonna get at grand central. But guess who swung by right as he was about to say it. Now I’m not saying Peter did something terribly wrong here, as it was just an honest mistake. However that honest mistake costed them vital information. Now it was bad on MJ’s part to not tell Peter about Grand Central right away. But you look at her perspective on the matter. The reason she does all of these risks is because she wants to help people, and she wants to stop the demons just like our love able web head. Her methods are just flawed, which is why with her last mission she tells Peter her plan, waits for him to get close to where she is, and lets him save her at the end. This is vital character development for MJ. Secondly, Peter may have experienced the loss of Jefferson Davis and Uncle Ben. But he is also flawed in a way. In Spider Man PS4 he thinks he needs to do everything by himself and not ask for help from MJ and many others. It’s not because he thinks he doesn’t need it he ain’t Batman, but because he doesn’t want to put them in danger. He acts as a sort of helicopter parent with her, which is why they broke up in the first place. He may have been justified but he failed to understand MJ’s feelings on the matter. Which is why when both MJ and Miles not only help him in the burning building, but also save him, he comes to realize MJ’s feelings and apologize for being overprotective of her. Also by the way MJ apologized to him first so yeah. Their whole conflict isn’t just black and white, it’s a two sided conflict where both are right and wrong in some areas, which is why it’s great when they both come to terms with each other.

I should’ve explained my criticism a bit more. My mistake, I just didn’t wanna make my text too long(it was long enough as it is). Still she does shift the blame for her decision on him. 2. Even though Peter made a mistake with the scientist at the Sable base, still she got the hint that something is going to happen an Grand Central. Just that somethings gonna happen, no details obviously. Again she doesn’t tell Peter for very selfish reasons. She should have told him and Peter could’ve done a proper stakeout. I’m fine with her making a mistake but my main problem is that Peter didn’t get more angry about it(rightfully so it got someone killed) or her apologizing right afterwards for not telling him(then showing some sad emotions forgetting someone killed). Instead we get a lame relationship text. Very forgettable scene. 3. I get that Peter is flawed when it comes to his paranoia about loss but riddle me this, Why not have the “partner” conversation without the breakup? Or at least have them be partners already? Seriously, the breakup doesn’t add anything. It just adds another unnecessary drama story to MJs list(which I’m sick of) lol 😂. Also keep in mind, I’m not just talking about Jefferson Davis and Uncle Ben when it comes to loss. Peter has been Spiderman for 8 years and God only knows how much loss he’s been through. Starting something like this at 15 is pretty rough, so you would think a childhood friend like MJ would have a little more empathy during that time. So again, her reasons for the breakup make her seem very selfish. If they insist on the break up, they should’ve at least gone with the comic book reason. She broke up with him, because she couldn’t handle the shock/trauma of nearly losing him all the time. She was in pure shock in her apartment when she thought Scorpion killed him. That I could sympathize with a bit more. Wives of Soldiers & Policemen go through that fear of loss every year. 4. I don’t fully hate the Insomniac MJ but my point is that we could’ve had this amazing game without the breakup drama. That’s why I think spider-Man 2s story is objectively better because there is less drama with her. Which is why I mentioned my idea earlier. Plus I’m cool with her reporter job & her face is just fine in the second game. Didn’t fully understand the overreaction about that. I mean obviously she looks 1,000 times better than the Fable 4 trailer character & Abby from Last of Us.

It's hard not to hate this version when. 1. Her entire characterization is a copy and paste from Betty Brand. 2. They removed content to make her playable and show that Ms. Relevance is Important. 3. She started defeating MUCH stronger and trained people with years of experience with the lame excuse that she was trained by Sable for 2 fucking weeks.
I don't hate this version but certainly don't care either. Also let's not forget that the moment she gets her stun gun late in the first game, her stun gun does one shot people while Peter's taser webs takes multiple hits. Especially Miles' bio electric abilities takes multiple hits. They didn't remove content to favor MJ in the third act. They were planning both the stuff with Venom and MJ but Sony made them cut the Venom stuff to favor his spin off game.
She was literally trained by silver Sable, you know an extremely skilled fighter that even got to hit peter a few times, idk why that's a problem, sounds like a you problem tbh.

Ehh..she has afew problems..and ik the person who did the face model for MJ went in an accident but i feel like the face in spider-man 2 felt unfinished..at times it looked good..but there was uncanny valley in some scenes..
Wish her and Peter's past in their relationship together was fleshed out abit more as well as maybe what she was like back then..
I liked her story about her past with her dad in the comics and how she really connects with peter..

I’ll be honest, I didn’t like here attitude in the first game. The whole breakup thing was unnecessary. I’m just getting sick of the relationship drama between Peter & MJ in stories. She didn’t tell Peter about Li’s Grand Central plans for very selfish reasons and it got a cop killed. Then she pins the blame on Peter. Completely terrible. Even her reasons for breaking up with Peter seem selfish. I understand that Peter being overprotective may be a bit irritating, but can you blame him? He’s gone through a terrible loss before and she does take foolish risks. I’m glad she acts better in Spiderman 2. I think that they should’ve been a couple already in the first game and at the end of the second game they would get married. Simple.

Alright let’s go over this one by one.
Firstly, MJ doesn’t blame Pete about Grand Central. If anything she’s the one that calls Peter for help after things went south. Heck the reason she went to grand central in the first place is because not only are the Demon’s going there, but because Sable, you know the *advance military force* is just flat out ignoring grand central. Not to mention, She didn’t tell Peter about Li’s plans cause she literally didn’t even know what their plan is. All they know is that it could be linked to Devil’s Breath. Which they already know about. In fact Standish was about to tell MJ what the Demons were gonna get at grand central. But guess who swung by right as he was about to say it. Now I’m not saying Peter did something terribly wrong here, as it was just an honest mistake. However that honest mistake costed them vital information. Now it was bad on MJ’s part to not tell Peter about Grand Central right away. But you look at her perspective on the matter. The reason she does all of these risks is because she wants to help people, and she wants to stop the demons just like our love able web head. Her methods are just flawed, which is why with her last mission she tells Peter her plan, waits for him to get close to where she is, and lets him save her at the end. This is vital character development for MJ.
Secondly, Peter may have experienced the loss of Jefferson Davis and Uncle Ben. But he is also flawed in a way. In Spider Man PS4 he thinks he needs to do everything by himself and not ask for help from MJ and many others. It’s not because he thinks he doesn’t need it he ain’t Batman, but because he doesn’t want to put them in danger. He acts as a sort of helicopter parent with her, which is why they broke up in the first place. He may have been justified but he failed to understand MJ’s feelings on the matter. Which is why when both MJ and Miles not only help him in the burning building, but also save him, he comes to realize MJ’s feelings and apologize for being overprotective of her. Also by the way MJ apologized to him first so yeah.
Their whole conflict isn’t just black and white, it’s a two sided conflict where both are right and wrong in some areas, which is why it’s great when they both come to terms with each other.

1. Well she kind of does pin the blame on Peter. She doesn’t outright say: “hey it’s your fault” but still she kind of hints that the reason that she didn’t tell Peter about anything is because of “Oh you’ll just have me stay behind a laptop” complaint. I should’ve explained my criticism a bit more. My mistake, I just didn’t wanna make my text too long(it was long enough as it is). Still she does shift the blame for her decision on him.
2. Even though Peter made a mistake with the scientist at the Sable base, still she got the hint that something is going to happen an Grand Central. Just that somethings gonna happen, no details obviously. Again she doesn’t tell Peter for very selfish reasons. She should have told him and Peter could’ve done a proper stakeout. I’m fine with her making a mistake but my main problem is that Peter didn’t get more angry about it(rightfully so it got someone killed) or her apologizing right afterwards for not telling him(then showing some sad emotions forgetting someone killed). Instead we get a lame relationship text. Very forgettable scene.
3. I get that Peter is flawed when it comes to his paranoia about loss but riddle me this, Why not have the “partner” conversation without the breakup? Or at least have them be partners already? Seriously, the breakup doesn’t add anything. It just adds another unnecessary drama story to MJs list(which I’m sick of) lol 😂. Also keep in mind, I’m not just talking about Jefferson Davis and Uncle Ben when it comes to loss. Peter has been Spiderman for 8 years and God only knows how much loss he’s been through. Starting something like this at 15 is pretty rough, so you would think a childhood friend like MJ would have a little more empathy during that time. So again, her reasons for the breakup make her seem very selfish. If they insist on the break up, they should’ve at least gone with the comic book reason. She broke up with him, because she couldn’t handle the shock/trauma of nearly losing him all the time. She was in pure shock in her apartment when she thought Scorpion killed him. That I could sympathize with a bit more. Wives of Soldiers & Policemen go through that fear of loss every year.
4. I don’t fully hate the Insomniac MJ but my point is that we could’ve had this amazing game without the breakup drama. That’s why I think spider-Man 2s story is objectively better because there is less drama with her. Which is why I mentioned my idea earlier. Plus I’m cool with her reporter job & her face is just fine in the second game. Didn’t fully understand the overreaction about that. I mean obviously she looks 1,000 times better than the Fable 4 trailer character & Abby from Last of Us.

My problem is the way mj face looks in the marvel Spider-Man 2
You either hate it for two reasons, you just perfer the og face and she looks older than peter, or because of "WoKe propaganda".
It's hard not to hate this version when.
1. Her entire characterization is a copy and paste from Betty Brand.
2. They removed content to make her playable and show that Ms. Relevance is Important.
3. She started defeating MUCH stronger and trained people with years of experience with the lame excuse that she was trained by Sable for 2 fucking weeks.
I don't hate this version but certainly don't care either. Also let's not forget that the moment she gets her stun gun late in the first game, her stun gun does one shot people while Peter's taser webs takes multiple hits. Especially Miles' bio electric abilities takes multiple hits.
They didn't remove content to favor MJ in the third act. They were planning both the stuff with Venom and MJ but Sony made them cut the Venom stuff to favor his spin off game.
She was literally trained by silver Sable, you know an extremely skilled fighter that even got to hit peter a few times, idk why that's a problem, sounds like a you problem tbh.

For me MJ in first game just sucks, one moment i am swinging in the city and beating guys in a Batman can't and then swoosh ! Im in a boring ahh slow paced moment with no fun. Second game made it little bit more intresting atleast but this is gameplay wise, personality wise ngl i admit i think "thats why we broke up" moment was bs.. Breaking up with Peter because he cared so much about your safety was not a reason reason ya know ? ( for me )
