Not gonna lie I don't like the way MJ looks in Spider-Man 2 but it's not a big deal to me because how she's written as a character (This applies to any character in fiction) is more important to me and I love her character in the universe. I know I said this in your community already but after seeing this I feel even more so about it.

I totally agree. I prefer how she looked in spiderman ps4. I just think it looks a bit more like MJ. But the new design doesn't take away from the game or its really good story.

I find these types of people so annoying and pathetic. How attractive a character is is of little to no importance ( with some exceptions based off specific character types ). The attractiveness of a character is just a superficial aspect. If you prefer attractive characters, then fine. But recognize that that is all it is, a preference

My main problem about the faces in Spiderman 2 isn't the fact they're ugly, it's the fact they decided to remaster Peter, MJ and Yuri when each of them looked fine in the first game, there was no need to completely redo their faces and it just doesn't make sense why they would change models that are already fine as they are, I get it's a remaster for the ps5 but still

Actually, I’m pretty sure Yuri’s face model is the same as it was in the first game. The only thing different is that she cut her hair to be shorter.

I thought MJ actually looked really attractive in Spider-Man 2. Even more so than the first game which already had her looking attractive (IMO).
It is nauseating listening to these guys. Nothing about their presentation or their views are tasteful. They are openly hostile over ever little thing due to their persecution complex. I personally have not noticed this supposed shift in gaming because I have no reason to be alarmed by it; conventionally attractive people are not ugly to me. They are golden standard for what it means to have an ugly personality.

Another factor for MJ is her hairstyle. Because the PS5 can handle longer flowing hair better than the PS4, they designed her to wear her hair down, which frames her face differently compared to the first game. That’s it. Just look at Linda Cardellini when she played Velma and every other role she’s had. The hair does a lot in framing the face
People always use the whole "MJs face actress broke her jaw and got surgery" excuse for why she looks different in SM2 but... She doesn't even look all that different looking at recent posts from her. At least not to the point the game makes her look. Though i still say its bs she got harassed for something the game devs did when it was out of her control.

The thing these guys seem to be missing with the images they use of the actors are done by professional photographers where it is made to look as good as possible, with make-up and lighting etc. The games then have the characters in more day-to-day scenarios where they wouldn't have those things to look the same degree of attractiveness they're looking for.

Body paportions shouldn't matter in fiction. It's fiction. It doesn't matter what the characters race is, their paportion doesn't has to match the "majority" of real life people.
Also MJ doesn't have to be hot. Her role in Insomniacs Spider-Man isn't ment to be "The hot girlfriend Spider-Man saves on a dialy basis." She's supposed to be an investigator, a writer, a supporter to Peter. Black Cat is the flirtatious, hot, theif.
I believe depending on the type of character you're trying to display or the type of game you're trying to sell should determin how the characters should look. Games like stellar blade knows the type of game it is and it doesn't hold back. Sexy android women with sword. Spider-Man, a superhero game that is filled with action and heartfelt moments that can be deep and relatable. Not every women needs to be overly sexual or sexualized.

Terrible combination
The Mary Jane sm2 face looks terrible. I don't see how anyone can defend it. She looked fine in the first game, then gained a ton of extra mass on her face in the next game. There's no reason to do that unless someone intentionally wanted to make her ugly. The star wars woman looks ok, but Mary Jane looks terrible.
