Q FOR THE POD: a recurring bit of Lonely Island lore centers on Andy’s love of sandwiches. Can we get a short segment of ‘S’wich Talk with Andy’ (or some bullshit) where he elaborates on his love of swaddled meat?
Lonely Island podcast on Mondays, Corrections on Fridays. If only Seth did something on a daily basis that I could watch... Keep up the great work, guys! Love it!!
Love the voice notes from writers to hear the background for other sketches in the episode. Also Lutz is great. And anybody who says otherwise should LEAVE HIM ALONE!
When jiminy glick asked Bill Hader, appropo of nothing, "why do you think so many fat kids take up the tuba?", I had to pause the video to laugh so hard for so long I was crying and couldn't breathe
2007 was such a good year for SNL. These guys are my number 1 cast! Mannnn! And I remember watching this skit the night it aired, along with Dear Sister, Iran So Far, and so many others! I’m grateful for that!
The way that Will Forte nailed the kind of dancing to Herb Alpert music I have done since I was a child listening to my dad's records was incredible. I was in awe.
QUESTION: I’ve got to ask-“The Shooting AKA Dear Sister” is hands down my favorite short of yours, a perfect spoof of The O.C. So, were you guys hate-watching the show together (or did you genuinely like it) when you came up with this masterpiece, or what’s the story there? And another thing I’ve always been curious about: I’m always fascinated by how much it costs to secure the rights to a song-how much did it cost to get the rights to “Hide and Seek”? Were there any instances where production told you, “Nope, sorry, too expensive,” and you had to change the songs you wanted to use for any other digital shorts? This isn’t a question, but just a big thank you-I absolutely love the podcast. Thanks for doing it! ♥
I was one of the weirdos living in BFE Texas downloading the mov files from Channel 101 and was a huge fan of The 'Bu, one day my boss came to work and was like "those goofs whose videos you watch all day, I just heard they got hired for SNL!" This podcast is so great, I love hearing about those days.
Q for the pod! The first thing I saw Jorma in outside of SNL was Parks and Rec! Can the boys talk about their appearances on that show and what it was like working with everyone? And, l loved the MacGruber episode! Love hearing all the SNL behind the scenes details, especially how last minute everything can be! It sounds so brutal, but please know that you’ve brought us all so much enjoyment! All of your hard work is truly appreciated!!!!
Question, followed by a statement. Why was shy Ronnie 1 not on one of the albums? After 2 years on night shift, I often run short of audio snacks to munch on while I work, so, after listening through these podcast episodes, I made the terrible choice of listening through the lonely island albums every day for the passed week and a half at work. The music is infectious to my 21 year old ears; Half nostalgia, half pure love for the energy that most tracks imbue. They work to keep me going through the night. Now, when I’m trying to read, when I seek peace in the shower, when I’m listening to other music: I can hear kiv yelling “diaper money” and “I’ve got a friend named Reggie who lives at the dump!” It won’t go away. You all haunt me. You all fucking haunt me. Great episode.
Jorma hitting the sound button reminds me of Jimmy Kimmel in strike force five😂 I'm really glad the podcast doesn't take hiatus like Seth meyers' show. I'd rather watch his show than the Olympics
I'm glad we are back to just one digital short per podcast episode -- do NOT go back to cramming multiple digital shorts into a single podcast!!!! We love all of this and do not want you rushing through it.
My question is: in the spirit of John Mulaney’s “Everyone’s in LA”, what cars do Seth, Andy, Akiva and Jorma all drive? Love this podcast to death and so happy Seth can finally tell SNL stories to his heart’s content without Josh freaking out ❤
I just want to say in general this podcast makes me so happy. It’s the inside baseball we’ve been looking for. Thank you! (Except for the McGruber episode)
I would love it if you guys could do some sort of draft with all of the best characters in SNL history with one cast member per character. Like with Keenan you can do what's up with that with Bill hater etc etc and see who's the best SNL recurring character
First, love the podcast. Second, since you guys said to ask questions, and you're likely covering one of the best in "The Shooting AKA Dear Sister" next, my two questions for that Digital Short are. 1. Why is there only one gun being passed around in the skit? 2. I wanna know the story of why you decided to film the Digital Short in what very clearly looks like a hotel room, since almost every other skit is either in the SNL building or out on the street. Cheers!
Q FOR THE POD: do you guys plan on coming on down for the SNL 50th? (in seth's case there's no excuse you're one elevator trip away buster) and akiva do you have any tips for aspiring directors and what was it like working with atlanta's own cody rhodes? sending you guys love from mexico
Dear Sethly and the Lonely Island Boys, Since it kinda came up with the Migrating Tree Frogs bit, I want to ask your thoughts on continuity. During your tenure, there seemed to be this idea of narrative canon that was unique to your group. The Dick in a Box guys dovetailing into the next song from their previous adventure (dumping the gifts in the trash, kissing the mothers goodbye). The progression of Laser Cats. The 3 Act McGrubers. But then also inner episode callbacks like the Closet Organizer/Bar Sketch during a Jon Hamm episode or Darrell’s House with Zach Galifianakis. It wasn’t just recurring character Mad Libs, plug-n-play like (kind of offense) The Makin’ Copies Guy. Was this a conscious effort? Something you noticed that hadn’t been done before on the show that you wanted to try? Or just the result of your natural comedy impulses? Jackally Your, Trevor Reece
Peyton was also really good in his recent WU update cameo when he talked about Emily in Paris! TBH that was probably the best (or at least Top 3) part of that episode.
Question for Andy: the Jackals love your phone appearances on Corrections, and wish you were on every ep; so, if there was a coup and Seth was deposed, would you serve as the new Corrections despot?
I was wondering if the Lonely Island (and Seth Meyers) have ever watched the video essay "How 'Dear Sister' Changed Comedy." I think it would be an interesting watch for you guys if you haven't already seen it
Question for the lonely island (and Seth meyerz) : Where would you all usually be when you hear the digital shorts play out for the audience and which reception were you looking forward to the most/ surprised you? {thank you, love the pod ❤️}
I’m gonna miss the entirely outdated nature of side conversation from this podcast. I remember Seth and Andy talking about the last time Andy was on the show in person as if it just happened and I was like…fuckin last year?? LOL that’s when I realized how faarrrrr in advanced they recorded those episodes
I picture Seth sipping that little red drink from Corrections while nervously and meticulously reading every single comment that will be posted from now until the end.
Question: Who was the #1 person who never hosted during your time on the show that you wish would've hosted? My guess is either Adam Sandler or Bruce Willis for Andy but the question is open to everyone.
thanks for doing this podcast guys!! all of you have influenced my sense of humor as well as my writing style since I was a kid (and way too young to be watching your stuff). my questions are: 1. were the hosts/musical guests usually pretty on board to be in your songs/sketches? or did some of them refuse, take some convincing, etc. 2. will you do an episode dedicated to popstar? 3. the three of you have been a creative team for 20+ years. have there been any major disagreements and how do you handle them? 4. have you thought about going on tour again? 5. who are some comedians you are enjoying or interested in right now?

QUESTION - What is the origin of “Karl” as a go-to name for Andy playing a sleazy character? It’s in both Natalie raps and Parks and Rec. Just a coincidence?
I have so many questions: Who wrote Sofa King? Seth, why did it take you 2 years of dating your wife to say I love you? Who was watching the O.C. Finale? Seth; how long after that car ride with Will Forte did you say I love you to Alexi? Did Andy’s outfit change in “Dear Sister” on purpose? Seriously Seth, 2 Years?! Also does anyone secretly love the sneaker upper?
I remember having Bo Jackson baseball cards. I think my brother still has ‘em. We also had Michael Jordan’s rookie card that time he tried to play baseball because I guess the NBA had just gotten too easy?
Great Pod! I’ve been trying to watch all the shorts and skits mentioned from the episodes of SNL, but many haven’t been made available to my region (Canada) on the TH-cams. My question is: supwitdat?
Podcast is great. Lutz is great. He has the uncanny ability of saying absolutely generic information while feigning excitement that only comes with years of interacting with celebrities. ;)

Re: Seth's suggestion that SNL 50th be classic skits performed in Lorne voice... we all yelled YES. So yes. Please and thank you.

By far my current favorite podcast. I actually thought last night, ooh, Lonely Island tomorrow!!❤❤❤

Seth really feels the need to point out that he was only out of college three years when Smash Brothers came out, so he is not as old as he seems

For "Dear Sister", I'm just wondering if Shia ended up with a headache. Homeboy seems to have consistently hit the floor harder than anyone else.
