Ooooh the question was how many sketches and shorts have references, not only how many references. 23 may be correct but I'm assuming it isn't from my inference of your methodology derived from the particular wording you used.
Question for you Quaids: have you hit the studio and made any more jams since the Bash Bros project? Do you have songs in the vault that will never see the light of day?
No question but I want Andy to know that "I'm On A Boat" was my ringtone throughout all my college years and anytime anyone called me, all anyone would hear is: "TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA AW SHIT GET YOUR TOWELS READY"
I've been waiting for this episode -- always loved Roy Rules, it's the best digital short that no one ever talks about. I remember sending it to my brother-in-law right when it first came out.
Roy Rules is one of the most underrated underappreciated shorts. I still to this day find myself singing it, and no one gets the reference. I watched this episode live when it aired mostly because Björk was the musical guest and I was pumped.

One for the jorm heads! Would love to hear more about the making of beats/music behind some of these shorts and songs on the albums. Not sure if this podcast is the best forum for that, but like a mix breakdown of lazy Sunday or something would be tight.

Are there any more podcast worthy 3 am SNL story’s like this? 😂 For Seth: we need to know how the marriage between you and Stefon is going ☺️☝🏼 Love you guys, greetings from Germany 🇩🇪❤
Question for the pod: “Incredibad” is one hell of an album, “The Old Saloon” still makes me laugh to this day - but I’ve always wondered, how does the rest of the Tiny Tim verse play out?
Question for the podcast! It’s got to be about Hot Rod. Literally can we just hear more about Hot Rod? 😂 There were so many things I needed addressed like Kevin singing to his stuffed animals or Rod singing his date song or Rico telling Dave’s sister that cherry upsets his stomach or Rod yelling Hoobastank. I could have listened to a few more hours of you guys talking about it. Honestly, I’d love to hear your favorite quotes and one-off lines. Whenever it’s quiet in the house I say, “Pools are perfect for holding water.” When I met my husband 16 years ago, he showed me that movie for the first time and I knew immediately I wanted to marry him because his sense of humor was just as stupid and wonderful as mine. We still watch it every year and are raising stupid and wonderful humans that could watch Rod falling down a mountain on repeat for hours. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS PODCAST EVEN THOUGH ANDY HATES IT!
QUESTION: Any word on another Lonely Island album? Also how about a lonely island movie about how the group came together maybe some kinda 8 mile/weird al vibes.
[attempt #2] Q FOR THE POD: a recurring bit of Lonely Island lore centers on Andy’s love of sandwiches. Can we get a short segment of ‘S’wich Talk with Andy’ (or some bullshit) where he elaborates on his love of swaddled meat?
Question for Akiva: did you use any bits from "Police Squad" in the new "Naked Gun" movie? Like Johnny the Shoeshine Boy or Mr. Olson, the lab guy? Because if you did, I will prebuy a whole theater to watch your film
Loved this episode. Despite the Lonely Island's incorrect assessment of Roy Rules, this Short absolutely belongs in the Criterion Collection. Not their Criterion Collection, but *the* Criterion Collection. It's easily in my Top 5 and arguably in my Top 3. There is a subtly to the humor in this short that is underappreciated, as well as the obvious humor. And while "Succulent Rubdowns" is easily one of the best lines of the short, not enough attention is given to the line, "We'll take off our pants and rail on each other, burn his marriage license in a wastebin!"

I have a discussion question! My husband and I got married around the same time as you guys, and all four of you have always come across as very supportive of your wives work, as is my husband of mine. That's still weird to some people, so thanks for being parasocial bros that way. Mom's always get asked this, so I would love to flip it and ask, as Dads, how do you balance work and family? Question for Seth: Can you share the backstory of "Migrating Tree Frogs"? I love the bit. You use it right before Ya Burnt, but I know it goes back further to your stint on Weekend Update. Love the LI & SM pod!
You asked for questions, and my first thought was "oh finally this is my chance to find out how these busy fathers have time to get Queen Bee in Spelling Bee!" Would you all ever consider reuniting with the peeps from your an golden era at SNL for a movie? An ensemble comedy with as many of the people as possible from that time on the show would be awesome.
QUESTION: Seth, why do you always introduce the show as "Seth Meyers and the Lonely Island Podcast" when the logo clearly says "The Lonely Island & Seth Meyers Podcast"?
Man, I do wish this podcast had come out the last time I was in New York because I got to see a rehearsal for Late Night and I would have shouted questions at Seth concerning the Lonely Island sketches, but I am content with knowing what they're referring to concerning the SNL stages after the tour there and getting to have seen Seth's parents, which amused my parents who were with me. Oh, and tell Andy that I do go outside while I listen to this podcast because I'm taking my dog on a walk and it has caused me some embarrassment a few times as I laugh out loud and a person is often walking by giving me odd looks like I'm laughing at them.
Hi fellers! We were trying to find “Kuato 2” on TH-cam - no luck. There have been a couple of other sketches mentioned on “the pod” that we also couldn’t find. Any ideas? Thanks! Love the show!
When Incredibad came out, I listened to it almost exclusively. I had to take my car in for some work one day, I parked it and handed over the keys and went about my business. 15 minutes later a man walks up to me: “what in the hell kinda music do you listen to?! I turn your car on and get my eardrums blasted out by some woman rapping about shitting in someone’s shoe!”
Question about upcoming Shorts: for Iran So Far, how did you choose Avril 14 by AphexTwin as the sample/melody? Also for YOLO, Whirring by Joy Formidable? Love those songs, the Shorts, and the podcast!
QUESTION: In People Getting Punched Right Before Eating, was it hard to get releases for the people in the pizza shop who saw Andy choke out Will? (Bonus Seth's Corner question: can Lorne release the Taylor Swift version of Potato Chip for the 50th?)
Question for the guys, has the Lonely Island always been just you three? I seem to remember some older pre Snl songs having other voices. Thanks! Love the pod!
Question for all: is there any song, SNL skit or movie you think is criminally underrated, that didn’t get the love you think it deserved? For me it’s the entire Seven days in Hell movie.
Question: We've all put in a ton of work into something only to have it not matter/fall flat, as well as half-assed something and gotten heaps of praise for something you threw together last minute. What is the sketch or short you have worked on where you feel the ratio from effort to audience reaction was the most drastic, both positively and negatively?
QUESTIONS: Who do you guys think should play Tim Walz on SNL? Thoughts on the Saturday Night Live movie? Question for Seth: You have expressed in the past that you did not feel in your element as a sketch performer so what was it like for you when you hosted the show?
Question for all: as you start really hitting your stride with digital shorts, how did you grapple with keeping your unique ideas while guests tried to join the party. A lot of hosts would have wanted to be apart of comedy raps, but you still had a good amount of sketches and classics in between the songs.
Hello from Canada boys! For the Lonely Island: Do you guys have any projects in the works/coming out any time soon? Or perhaps next year? For Seth: Do you think you’ll write with the lonely island again? And/or show up in a project? Thanks for getting me through my primitive high school years with a positive and hilarious place to escape. Cheers to you all and your families❤
Q: What was the learning curve with recording software, recording techniques, and what became the tool kit for generating the music without irony that made the jokes and the supporting artistic decisions so earnest?
Question for the lads: do you ever just get bored with whatever script you were working on (mainly for sketches i guess) and want to just scrap it and write another? If so, how did you get around this? I’m doing Film at uni right now and i have so many silly digital short style film ideas and i often write for like an hour or so and planning how i want the story to go but then when ive started writing the script and stuff its like my attention span just goes and I get bored of that story 😭 any tips? Also love from the uk (not foggy london town but foggy smelly liverpool town)
I know this has to have already been asked (a million times): Lonely Island, are you guys done touring? Will there be more festival runs? Love the podcast, missing the music! It would be a dream to see Diaper Money live.
Question for the pod - Do you play any instruments? There’s multiple clips (mainly of Andy) by an instrument. The piano in Roy Rules, guitar in B99 etc. Do you actually know how to play or is it just a bit?
For Akiva, and Jorma, I remember on twitter I had asked Jorma about a sequel to the Just 2 Guyz series a long time ago. I think you had said “Maybe” I like to think that the premise for it could be Guy #1, and Guy #2 are teachers at a run down community college. Their life experiences have led them to want to teach the youth the way to being better than Steve. That would be a cool idea. For Seth Mayer(John Mayers brother), were you in the SNL days the same as you are now? Like were you more serious than now, or the other way around, and what was a skit you wrote that you have regrets about. Also, do you do more writing for Late Night vs SNL back then? For Andy. My favorite era of SNL was from 2005-2014. You were my favorite cast member, and I always looked forward to seeing you on the show. Question. What year would you describe as your best SNL year, as well as your worst, and why. Also, who was the cooler one, you or Hader?
Question: Me and the guys in our cinema office were wondering but couldn’t find the answer: was every TLI music video a digital short? Or were some just normal music videos for the albums?
Question: Do you guys know that you guys unknowingly referenced or predicted (since you pre-recorded the early episodes way in advance) some of the Please Don't Destroy skits from SNL. From the top of my head I remember you guys talking about a good variant of Covid after one of you guys had caught Covid which was a video Please Don't Destroy made with Paul Rudd, John Mulaney, and Al Roker all in it. You also talked about how SNL wouldn't be able to make a skit about someone unaliving themselves after the Peyote skit and Please Don't Destroy made one with Timothee Chalamet.
Question for the Pod…. Can we possibly get the video of the Zoom Calls too for these podcast episodes? Ps: Thank You for so many hours making me & millions others laugh over the years.
Dammit, I don't care! Those Kuato sketches are fuckin' LEGENDARY in my book. A hyper-specific niche-as-hell reference that was already sixteen years old by the time it first aired (on the Jaime Pressly show). So delightfully absurd and willfully stupid as fuck. THAT'S the kind of sketch comedy that, to me, endures-whether you like it or not. It isn't tied down to passing trends or ephemeral news cycles. It's just goofy and batshit and so, so, so dumb for the sake of just being all those things. If I were Jost circa 2006/07, I would've fallen in love with ScarJo based alone on her being game for a sketch like that. And if I were in any way on the team that wrote that sketch, I'd have no regrets by the time I'd had reached my deathbed. To conclude: Open ya mind, Quaid. Hahahaha! Hahahaha! Ha ha haHAhaha! YEEES that's me out dere! Goodnight out dere! 😁
I know we’re still a few episodes away from this, but how long did it take pitching Clancy T. Bachleratt and Jackie Snad Sing Songs about Spaceships, Toddlers, Model T. Cars & Jars of Beer before it made it to air?
TECHNICAL QUESTION: timing and pace are obviously such a key element in the funny of your digital shorts. Do you plan out the timing of those lines and cuts ahead of time or is it trial and error in the editing room? Eg in your script do you have like markers which show how quickly a line should be delivered or you just feel it out in the moment then sort it out later? Love you guys
Question for TLI: Hey guys long time fan here- love your work, loving the pod. From backseatsmen to bash brothers, you guys are inspirational as comedy writers, comedy actors, and comedy friends. For realies tho- how often in the name of a supposed “blue sky” brain storm sesh do y’all get down to slobbering on each others knobs?
Question for Seth: Why did you tell us to submit questions two weeks ago when you hadn't yet figured out how you were going to do questions? Did the heady feeling of having come up with the "they're weird" strategy make you forget about podcast details?
Recently rewatched The Three Amogos with my daughter and it made me think about your show. Wondering if y’all (or if anyone) have considered doing an SNL Films season of the podcast. I would love to see deep dives, like what you guys do, into some of those incredible films.
Answer for the pod: Andy’s dong is referenced 23 times across all digital shorts. You’re welcome.
Doing gods work 😆
Can you count how many times Seth says "I should note"?
Do you just keep a tally each time it’s mentioned LOL

Question: When you collaborate with musical artists, how involved are they in the writing process?
TECHNICAL QUESTION: timing and pace are obviously such a key element in the funny of your digital shorts. Do you plan out the timing of those lines and cuts ahead of time or is it trial and error in the editing room? Eg in your script do you have like markers which show how quickly a line should be delivered or you just feel it out in the moment then sort it out later? Love you guys
question for the pod! are there any songs from the albums/projects after snl that you wished were made as snl digital shorts?
Question for TLI:
Hey guys long time fan here- love your work, loving the pod.
QUESTION: I have asked a lot of celebrities this and have never gotten an answer, but What are your favourite types of pasta?
You guys are right! I do truly rule! Thanks guys! 😂🤣 (My name is Roy too by the way if you didn't ALREADY get that😘)
Question⁉️: Andy & Seth, how did you end up in Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist? Would love to hear you talk about the movie!!
you guys should've brought up the great "I am Tucker!" music video that has him describe in explicit detail what he would do to all three of them
