That " something else" is Stevies soul and the guitars soul becoming one during the song

There aren't many performers who sounded as good live as they did recorded. SRV was actually even better live than his studio recordings. He is my GOAT.

  • @melanieredfield9736

SRV was more than a great guitarist; he lived the blues, and you could feel him pouring out every ounce of emotion through his music. Few artists can connect to audiences on a soul level but he was completely authentic. Though he has been gone 30 years, his presence is still alive and well in his music. Texas Flood live at El Mocambo; Riviera Paradise live in Austin are masterpieces.

Oh I cried the day he died ------ An inspiration in so many ways; there's just something about someone who shares what's in their soul and heart as he did, as well as his candidness over his turning his life around so that he could share from a place even purer (among other reasons, of course). At almost 60 years old, my first CD was SRV ..... sure do love and miss him and his music 💞

Your description of "something else" was so spot on. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live in Boston in the 80's...WOW!

Oh yeah, he definitely had confidence when he picked up the guitar! He knew he could play! And I don't begrudge him that one bit. He earned his reputation as a blues influence.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of those Artist that you can’t put in a box or a category. He was one of a kind and all his music is different from most blues, most rock, most anything really.
That Man could play and sing like crazy!!
He was bluesy but also Southern Rock.
But his sound, his voice, his guitar playing is definitely off the charts even to this day.
He’ll always be one of the Greats. He’s in a category all to himself in my opinion.
    Love his music!
If I’m ever having a crappy day listen to some SRV and I know my day will turn out alright.
He has that effect on a lot of people even to this day.
He’s one of the best and definitely one of the greatest I’ve ever heard.
Great Reaction as always Micheal. Much Love!!♥️♥️♥️♥️

The term born to... well SRV was born to play that dam guitar!! The guy would literally play until his fingers bled! I've heard stories about him playing a concert and afterwards go find the local oasis and play more!

This is fron his album In Step. The last that he made with Double Trouble. All about his addiction and recovery. In step with 12 steps of recovery from addiction. Love the man even more than his playing and singing. He is my favorite performer so that's saying alot.

You nailed it! It was that something extra that he had… He was an awesome guitarist with a great voice for the blues… But there was that something else as you say. While I was lucky to have seen him live several times, we would have had so much more music to enjoy and share with future generations if he had been able to live longer. Such a shame… RIP Stevie!

Bought a ticket to see SRV and Eric Clapton on 09-06-1990 (my birthday present to myself) at Oak Mountain Amphitheater in BHM. SRV was killed in the copter crash 08-27. Clapton dedicated the show to SRV. Glad I didn't buy a ticket and take someone with me. I wanted no distraction. Clapton lit it up for over 2 hours. What a memorial service. What a birthday present.
