Cathy, since I can’t see and don’t know eBay. My wife says when you have a pair of Almico 5 Humbuckers, can you let us know and she can get on there and get them. I can’t see well and I’ve never used eBay. Or, if you make a set we would be glad to buy them directly. Thank you! I have my Tele and a 12 string Epiphone acoustic for now. I love what yall are doing. I just want a pair of Humbuckers for my Strat. And take your time. !
Great job! I know ceramic magnets are cheap, but surely there must be a better cheap alternative . . . like fridge magnets, maybe . . . ?! 🤔😂😉 Excellent demo from Trey!
This is really interesting stuff. A welcome addition to my guitar views. Would love an episode of the whole factory and machinery that you guys use. Thanks
Cathy, you are amazing! Just a quick tip for your rewinds- use an iron to heat the magnets and soften the glue! Those ceramic magnets will chip off with a vengeance and the fragments can be super sharp, not to mention a flying tip broken if your cutting blade!
Holy great job on those pups!!! That guitar sounds awesome now! Sweet playing Trey. When you start to, I’d love to get a dog eared P90 for my Westcreek DC, especially if you guys try and do a noiseless P90. No rush or nothin’, just if n’ when.
Hi Cathy. I have three pickups that are weak sounding. Could I interest you in rewinding them for a higher output? What would you charge me for this project?
Awesome job Cathy I saw Scared My Guitar Video First... Personally I love ceramic pickups for heavy metal. They have more aggressive tone.. for clean tone yes Alnico.. Theses nothing wrong with making mistakes that's how you learn. Eddie Van Halen Won a Piano competition as a kid without understanding music theory. Classical piece... He experimented & practiced & became one of the best guitarist of all time... The pickups are awesome...
Those Are Some Sweeeeet Soundin Pickups Cathy & I Knew Sean Was Gettin Bonked 🤯🤕🤣 As Always Have a Great Evening Sean, Cathy, & Everyone Scarred ... Live Free or Die, From Pew Hampshire !!!
Crazy that the DCR on the originals were 15Kish, ceramic magnets & heavier gauge wire (40 Gauge). If it helps any as a general frame of reference for P90s, the Neck is 8.2K & Bridge 9.3K with what others claim as Almico V magnets for the Epiphone P90s on my LP Special I. No idea what the gauge wire those have. The Gibson P90s are +/-8K'from what I recall their specs as indicated. Team Scar for the save & win for this Indio teardown & rebuild. Trey sounded great as usual for the test drive & lap around the track. There's another P90 pickup product out there, Wolftone P90, that come in mean, meaner & meanest options for DCR/wind counts.
I once rewound a microphone balun transformer. The mic wasn't mine and I'd looked inside it. The balun fell out and snapped off its tags. I replaced the tags with panel pins. I reeled off the wiring on to a sewing machine spool, then spooled it back, all using a model electric motor I had at the time, that I set in a jig for the spool and transformer. It was all the size of a sugar cube, with *very* thin wire. To my surprise it worked 1st time but I wouldn't want to do it again.
Love the sound of a good P90 pickup in a guitar. Fell in love with them when my first live band's lead guitarist played an early 70s Gibson SG Professional that had P90s in it. These sound SO much better than what came out of that guitar. Great Job!
FYI...P90's are basically just single coil pickups, but flat & wide vs tall & thin. That raises the magnet's field around the strings. You might want to raise your regular single coil pickups to see if that gives a more P90-like tone (more output, but lower "top end" in relation of mids & bass frequencies).
Great job! I have to wonder a little, why go to all the aggro to rebuild, when plenty of decent replacement p'ups are available cheap? (GFS is my personal fave.) Don't get me wrong, that's quite a skill, Cathy!
I will never make pickups, but am happy to learn how its done. One thing Ive learned is its probably better to have a real person make them than in a faceless factory in a far away land.
Well,I’m here to tell ya,I’ve learned a hellofalot from you guys,I had a Jackson from a couple years back that cost about a thousand bucks off the guitar center website that was beautiful ,but definitely the worst playing guitar I’ve ever had,but after a little practice on some shitty old electric guitar necks I had,I did a truss rod adjustment, fret job,and Floyd setup and now it needs a set of your humbuckers which I’ll be buying this payday,so thanks guys for the lessons I needed and y’all have definitely earned my support on your channels, plus let me in on Trey and Josh’s channels,so thanks and please keep on a putting these informative vids up…
The rewound pups sounded awesome. Really made that bird beaked cheap guitar into a keeper. If only they woulda put stainless frets and a graphtech nut on it. I also like a wider fingerboard at the nut than most cheapies have.
Oh man, I'm so glad we get the pickups side too. Love the video, keep 'em comin'. I don't know about the singing "Don't you touch my Scarred Pickups" at the beginning though. Might wanna' get a better voice actor than that, almost sounded like Sean if I didn't know any better... Haha.
Cathy i Love the sound you get out if your pick-ups!!!! Keep winding those Tele Pick-ups!!!!! We are in the middle of getting ready to move, i saw the body Sean made with the F hole and fell in love eith it!!! So as soon as we get settled in I'll have you and sean do your thing for me one!!!! They are the closest you can get to old school Tele's !!! Not worried about the price so you will be hearing from me when we're in the new house!!! Much Love and God Bless!!!!!
so murray at monteys guitar modz is correct...just cause it has a high number dont mean its gonna be hot...wire size matters.... great job on these pups cathy!
When it comes to a good all-around pickup that can hang out in any genre of music, except for possibly more heavily drop-tuned metal tones, you cannot do better than a good set of soap bars or P-90s. They are one of my favorite styles of pick-up. Opinions may vary; however, they offer the perfect balance of humbucking warmth and single-coil brilliance. One of my favorite combinations for pick-up arrangements is a humbucker in the bridge and an overwound P-90 in the neck. I have found that this setup provides a versatility in tone that an HSS setup falls short of. If you want those creamy jazz and honky country lead sounds, then you need to look no further than a P-90 neck pick-up, and don't worry they can get gritty and dirty when the need arises and you boost the gain. I have played many shows covering 80s hard rock and metal using a Les Paul loaded up with a set of P-90s and they did not sound out of place. Heck Tony Iommi's signature SG is loaded with P-90s and I have never heard anyone complain about Black Sabbath's sound being thin or weak. Just saying. Great job breathing new life into those pick-ups Kathy, I might need to requisition your services for a custom set of P-90s for a build I am getting ready to start. Keep up the good work because those sounded pretty sweet.
Thanks for showing us how pickups are assembled. It's great you can improve the cheaper ones. Unfortunately, those coil winding machines are expensive. I did find cheaper manual ones. However, I cannot find the feeder part. I don't know where you got yours. I figure you bought the set used somewhere for less. I did search for them used but could not find anything.
Freaking awesome ide much rather buy pickups from y'all than Fender Gibson or anywhere else I need 2 humbuckers for my Aria and 3 singles for my strat if I send them how much would it be to have you wind them can't wait to see the new guitars ide love one in woodgrain y'all Rock much love from West Virginia 👍
Watching stuff like this is therapeutic.
No drama, no politics, no b.s. outside of people's opinion on guitars. Which can turn dramatic quite..lol
Nice job Cathy! I love that "tick" on the leading edge of the notes. Great demo, Trey!
Thanks Brad!! Cathy really made these come to life!
Thanks Brad! 😊
Thanks Trey! 😊
I love it when Cathy shows Sean whos the boss😂😂 ❤
Y'all are my favorite TH-camrs.
Love both y'alls shows! Watch everything y'all do. Keep up the great content guys!
They are a cute couple...sorry about Hammy.
Over here to see the follow up, nice work Cathy. Great playing Trey we all do the same tired licks!!!

This is really interesting stuff. A welcome addition to my guitar views. Would love an episode of the whole factory and machinery that you guys use. Thanks
Cathy, please keep your spirits up. You're doing great!!!
Trey, my man, a magnet and some wire IS the pickup. 🤣
Damn! Cathy's P90 re-winds are SCREAMING and super quiet, too! Kudos and hats off to you, Cathy! 💯
Scatter wind helps!
I love watching you wrap. It is very interesting how you build your pickups. Good job.
Sean’s licks ain’t as old & tired as mine.
Great job Cathy.
sounds dope.... great sets Cathy has the magic touch
Cathy, you are amazing! Just a quick tip for your rewinds- use an iron to heat the magnets and soften the glue! Those ceramic magnets will chip off with a vengeance and the fragments can be super sharp, not to mention a flying tip broken if your cutting blade!
GR8 job Cathy! Best wishes going forward. After you get established I’d like to purchase some Scar My Pick Ups. 🎸👍
Cathy’s pickups kick ass!

Those pickups are barkin and quackin, dammit! Fine work miss Cathy! Trey had that thing singing. Subbed.
They sold out fast. I like what both you guys do. God bless

Great job Cathy you really made those pickups come to life
Good call on the pickups! They really woke that guitar up!
Those pickups sound great!
Hi Cathy. I have three pickups that are weak sounding. Could I interest you in rewinding them for a higher output? What would you charge me for this project?
Wow Cathy! I love the tone. It's Grand Master Cathy!
That Indio sounding hot

VERY nice y'all Kathy! Sound like some of the BEST P90s! \m/

Nice! What an improvement.
Those rewound P90's sound great! You did an awesome job!
I love watching you both working together to make "cheap" guitars sound amazing. Keep it up, you have a new subscriber to both channels.
I once rewound a microphone balun transformer. The mic wasn't mine and I'd looked inside it. The balun fell out and snapped off its tags. I replaced the tags with panel pins. Lovely sounding pickups. Best of luck with the new channel 🤘
Fantastic work, Kathy! It was fun to watch you, and I am always prepared for any "technical difficulties."
Great pickups and great guitar playing. Thank you all
y'all got this down!
After Christmas I want to replace all three of the paf style pickups in my Chibson Black Beauty Bigsby with Cathy pickups if possible
I need a black gibson neck pickup. Something for clean tone. Ill buy as soon as you make them. 😊

Good Job Cathy, They sound AMAZING New Subscriber.
Thanks everyone!

@@olenfersoi8887 I'm a bass player. 🤷🏻😁
Sounds good. Did you make them reverse wind reverse polarity so they humbuck with both pickups on?
Alnico brings that Magic Tone.
I was about to say you haven't bopped Sean in the head in a minute, then you did it lol.
Great job! I have to wonder a little, why go to all the aggro to rebuild, when plenty of decent replacement p'ups are available cheap? (GFS is my personal fave.) Don't get me wrong, that's quite a skill, Cathy!
I'm hearing Joe Walsh. Good stuff.
“Your pushing yer luck” lol
I will never make pickups, but am happy to learn how its done. One thing Ive learned is its probably better to have a real person make them than in a faceless factory in a far away land.
Can't wait until you are releasing your own brand P90s.

Nice sounds.
Wow amazing

I bought the winder and the traverse separately on stewmac
There is a video on scar my guitar channel showing you how to make a electric winder for around $60
Great content. Subbed to both channels now 😎👍
Damn! Those sound filthy! Amazing job Cathy
Those p90s sound sweet. nice job.
Very interesting about the magnets, what determines how many winds of copper wire that you make on the pickups?
Cathy I need a set of Clear bobbin strat pu’s. Do you offer those ? If so, What is the price for them
@@stratelicious I will look into getting clear bobbins and let you know. You want SSS correct?
Awesome work. Sounds really good
Those sound KILLER!
Sounds good
As soon as you start selling P-90's like these, I'll be a-knockin', cash in hand.
Nice alnico magnets
Dang that sounds like a gold top Gibby
How easy is it to remove the foam is there any residue left?
