So I live out west, I'm in Nevada, there's a LOT of ghost towns and abandoned gold and silver mines and I have been thinking about making a TH-cam channel traveling on my bike and checking them out and do some camping stuff as well, my actual question is what is the process for getting a channel started and then picking up the advertising and I know showcasing various products will help with the sponsorship process, but how did you get your sponsorships?

Refreshing transparency. I'm very impressed by Jess's business brain. Several of my U.K. biker pals watched this video with me and I asked them what they thought.Their consensus was that, in the main, they watched Jess's videos hoping for a frame or two of her in her nightie. I confiscated their beer, threw them out, and can but apologise!

I tried making a couple of videos based on something that I’m really good at. I quickly discovered how extremely difficult it is to produce something that is actually watchable, let alone interesting. I honestly don’t see how one person alone can manage to do it. You are among my favourite channels, and I really appreciate my favourite channels. It’s a lot of work, and I hope you all continue to do it well and grow!

@@HerTwoWheels You are concise and prepared, and I really appreciate that! That Beards and Bikes (hate to call that channel out) guy rambles for an eternity (let alone the clickbait)...glad you aren't like that guy. Your husband does a good job on his videos, also, but you seem slightly more natural talking to the camera. Good editing work, and your (and his) scenes are also nice and clean (I would fail on that). I'd say keep doing videos you feel like doing. @@HerTwoWheels The complexity of all this is hard to fully comprehend.
As you correctly said, money is made from the location of your viewers, so when your videos are watched in the US or western Europe, you make some money. If however you developed a following in India, you would make next to nothing, due to the cheaper cost of advertising there and the exchange rate of the rupee.
Unfortunately, the reverse is true. Nearly all the fake animal stories, best of, and many disaster videos (that are stolen from accounts that are no longer active) are posted in India, hence the frequent robotic voice. With clever titles and considerable clickbait, some of these videos have exceeded 5 million views within 4 weeks. Now imagine the value of the dollars when converted into rupees. In reality it is a house a month.
These videos are now produced on an industrial scale, using professional film studios and no one realises the scale of this scam. Put simply, if you sat down right now to watch every video uploaded from India within the last 24 HOURS, it would take you about 100 YEARS.
The problem is, that advertisers have fixed budgets, so every one of these videos posted reduces the number of adverts that will appear on your videos.
Most experts think that the bubble will burst before long. Already TH-cam are feeling the impact and promoting "TH-cam premium which is advert free.
I am sorry to sound so gloomy, but whatever you do, don't rush off and buy a mansion, expecting TH-cam to still be paying the mortgage in 10 years time.
PS, Jane and I love your videos and we are in the UK.

Great video really informative and my hat is off to you - I recorded a couple of motorcycle journeys on a cheap action camera and was put off from doing more by the time taken and sheer effort that goes in to editing just to make it watchable for myself and my friends. So to put something together as interesting and professional as you do must be so time consuming to say nothing of the huge expense of buying the right gear - and it's not even your full time gig!
So don't apologies, you're great at what you do and if you can make some dosh along the way - more power to ya

Great video breaking down the YT mystery of monetization. Questions for you, what happens when someone watching is a YT subscriber like me? Do you still benefit from my viewing your videos? As far as sponsorships, I feel that as long as they are honest it’s no different than watching TV. Commercials pay for the bulk of the entertainment. I watch way more YT than cable since I can pick what & who I’m watching. Just because you are sponsored doesn’t mean you have to endorse a product either. Though it would be better for one’s channel and sponsor. An exception might be something non-bike related in your case. For example since some of your best videos are around camping maybe a sleeping bag or hammock sponsorship would be a good add on. I enjoy your channel for both the bike and travel content with none of the reality TY drama that you find on other channels. Just another biker living their dream. Thank you for all your hard work and I hope you are able to achieve your goals. Stay safe and keep up the great work.

Thank you for breaking down how TH-cam works! I started watching your videos with your hammock camping trip. Hope your weather gets better.

How does it work if we have TH-cam premium? Just wondering how or if youtubers get anything from that ?

    • @HerTwoWheels
      @HerTwoWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Creators get a couple cents per 1,000 views from TH-cam premium!

Wow that doesn’t sound fair , or equivalent to someone that watches the ads. I was thinking it would be closer together. Interesting thanks for the info.

    Great information!
Most people wanted to know at least some basic information about how TH-camrs get paid.
Keep making Harley content, that’s my particular focus.

@@Mrdrivereight I started a TH-cam channel for the fun and channel of it, never realized how much of a business can be built out of it so that’s the goal!

Thanks for the transparency and behind the scenes look at the business side. I have no interest in being a TH-camr but I still appreciate the knowledge. I’d rather just ride my motorcycle and watch you motovloggers when I can’t.

My first HTW video was the Solo Camping video. After watching it to the end, I hit Like, Subscribe and the 🔔. You are a genuine and sincere person and it comes through all of your vids. You care about your content presentation, and it shows. Your videos are high quality, crisp vivid images. Your audio is clear with the full audio spectrum. From the rumble of your exhaust to the sounds of the stream and critters while camping. It makes me feel as if I'm there. And, for me, I am grateful that you do not have loud, annoying music playing during the video. What you do play is secondary to the images and live sound. It doesn't distract from your content.
Well done. Keep up the great work.

So you're (creators) the reason so many ads (ad breaks) in the video, like ARGHHHHHHH! 1 minute in a video ad, then 2 minutes in and a ad? i just started enjoying the video and BOOM ad (video; not a pop up most of the time). How about less ads and sale merch? Recommend Bunker Branding and tell them the Demolitia sent ya, maybe i'll get something out of it. haha

I have been watching your videos for quite awhile. I moto camp also, and have picked up some tips from watching you. Personally, I enjoy it the most when you show your camp and camp surroundings. I found the information about how you earn money quite interesting, I see that the ads are needed, but they are very annoying. Anyway, please keep making videos, and I will keep watching them. Thumbs up as always! Dave

Been following you since your first camping trip, I personality would never video my trips but I am really old school and a codger for sure. Your explanation of how and why you do TH-cam brought so much clarity in my perspective on why people do videos. Thank You and please continue what you do. DeepSea Shovelhead

Found your channel because of Doodle. Stayed because I liked a few of your vids (style and quality) and I love supporting a fellow Buckeye so you got the subscription. FYI, your alone again vid....yeah I just watched it last week for the first time. I do camping with a camper and don't look to be changing that for the most part. I was curious about what you packed to do an overnight camp with your bike, and I didn't know if I ever wanted to do something similar with my ATV. The hammock was interesting. You video here helps someone like me who is thinking of starting a channel. I've been watching a lot of you, Doodle, and NewZeroland for ideals. Thanks for making it while we are all stuck not riding.

That's how I found you. I was planning a motorcycle camping trip and would be tent camping, and I was looking for what gear i could bring and packing tips, and bam! Right there at the right time was your video right time and right place. I liked your tent and some of the gear. Now a 1/2 year later, I'm planning another trip and have acquired a lot of new compact moto camping gear partially thanks to your video

I think I found your channel from the first camping video. At the time I was planning to get my license and start riding. Now I have my bike and got my license I’m loving it. Very interesting how you tube pays. My kids say they want to be a you tuber. I tell them it’s not as easy as you think. Without trying to crush there dreams. I tell them you might want to focus on a career and have a channel too. Looks like that is working out well for you. Love your videos. Keep creating 👍
