Have a single 18" Tropo in a old JBL Cinema subwoofer with 400RMS in my home theater. My house breaths with the low frequency energy it puts out. Sound quality is great. For the price pretty good.
I'm not a wife, girlfriend or mom, but I do have a single Tropo 12". The thing slams in their prefab box, which, incidentally, is probably WAY too large for the sub (2.13 cu. ft.). It is a bit boomy, IMO. Feeding it roughly 650W, it hits the lows effortlessly. A have a work friend who has a pair of sundown ZV6 12's (underpowered) and even he was surprised at what my single 12" could do. I have been smelling faint voicecoil within the first few days of running the Tropo, but if it holds up, I'll be happy with it.
IMO, they may be similar subs, but SKAR Q/C is just not there. I have a lot of friends with systems, and most of them have written off SKAR, from the experiences they've had. There have been multiple videos showing them burning up at or below RMS on a test bench (in a box) playing music. Many examples of bubbled glue on the voice coil of a brand new sub. I have one of their amps, but they won't be getting my money for subs.

Did like the meso 6.5s my brother bought. I built a box for 4 of them and the were impressive. Actually made the ct website for the longest time. It was fun breaking cds over the port hole.

@@RobotUnderground I have 2 sony 200w powered 12 inch single subs and I just swapped out the subs with these. And 5 old school Boston acoustic speakers. It's a Denon AVR-S750H receiver with dolby atmos and all that powering everything.
I bought there last used 1st gen tropo 12. The day I got it hooked up to 600w my homie broke my RCA's... So I still have only heard it on 300w. I figured for the price I'd be happy an throw it in an old car or gift it to a family member later in.
I didn't think about home theater! Gotta be pretty cool though. Maybe I'll do that for my mom's place for her.
@@myronjansen2165 Sorry to hear that. We sell the Recoil 600.1 for just $110 shipped and it does over 700wrms @ 1 ohm. Typically it's around $65-$150 to repair an amp like that. Free if you DIY.

I have a pair and they slap they are very underrated i play them on 800 watts rms @1 ohm and they are just fine but i also know how to tune an amp properly lmfao.
@Qu Nah bro they are rated 650w Rms I have a skar 800.1 and it goes from 800w rms-1200 w rms depending on if i drop below 14.4. The truth is ive tried to blow them three times and they get stinky and i turn the gain down a smidge and they cool down and continue to slap.

@@funfun8095 Right, but all the parts are glued together and the task of just replacing the voice coils is of HIGH DIFFICULTY and labor intensive. I recommend replacing with a round sub that is more powerful.
So Patrick, what is the best way to go about old subs that just need the spider replaced and the coil is good & surround is good etc?
Wanna do a video on if there is a way to do spider only or does a guy need to do rebuild no matter what and maybe just salvage cone and dust cap. Maybe the surround if it pulls off clean.
