Spot-on for describing both shoes. Got the Hyperion Max 2 recently knowing that it has a firm feel and ride and that it's more of a tempo/threshold workout shoe and it is exactly that. I'd say the Hyperion Max 2 is more in the category of super trainers like the Boston 12, Deviate Nitro 2/3, and Endorphin Speed 3/4 (haven't tried the 4) than max-stack super trainers like Superblast 2, MagMax Nitro, Skyward X, and Neo Vista (finally receiving the NV next week). Took the HM2 on a 7.5-mile tempo run with paces mostly in 7:00~7:30/mile (4:20~4:40/km) pace with a mile segment at around 6:20 (3:56/km) and it was a rush. The HM2 is so efficient and effortless when picking up the pace. It's like it has a turbo engine built in for fast acceleration. Haha. The forefoot propulsion and rocker just shoots you forward and reminded me a lot of the PXSv2 but lighter and lower to the ground. The SB2 is not that type of shoe. It takes a little while longer to build up the speed although it's great once you get to the desired pace and lock it in to sustain over longer distances. I really like the HM2 and it felt quite comfortable even though it has such a firm feel and ride. I don't think I'd want to take it on a long run of 15+ miles, but I'd be fine with it for mixed runs of easy, tempo, threshold intervals, fartlek, and progression with some strides adding up to 10~13 miles with some breaks in between. The SB2 can do lots of different runs as well, but the HM2 would be my choice for fast workouts and the SB2 would be better for easy-to-moderate pace daily runs as well as moderate-to-fast paced long runs as it has a smoother and more stable ride. They are virtually in different categories and I'd say very complementary. A minimal rotation of these two shoes along with a carbon-plated race shoe would cover a runner's marathon training block really well.
@@run-are in my country indonesia magmax not released yet even hm2 still not released. what about rebelV4,1080v13,takumi sen10,novablast 4,nitro deviate 3,hyperion max what would u reccomend for all type of running like tempo, interval, easy run,5-10k etc? and what about to compare with superblast 2?
Just bought the Hyperion Max 2 and took on my first run yesterday. I’m a slow runner but it felt really good under foot and my ankles, knees, legs and feet felt fresh after the run. Good shoe for me!
Been loving the Hyperion Max 2 and was tempted to finally try the biggest hype shoe of 2024, the SB2. Not sure I need both for now. Great closeup shots of both shoes.

Is the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 a similar (but maybe better) shoe than the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4? (I own the ES4). Seems quite similar to me from the specs. Cheers! Edit; also seen some reviews of the Hoka Mach x2, and ASICS magic speed 4 being good plated training shoes. Seems like this category of shoe has become really popular recently!
If you want to buy the Asics Superblast, remember that it is not allowed for competition because it is built too high. The Hyperion Max is awesome. Can't believe that this is a Brooks shoe.
@@sanctuary7078 I don't see anyone racing in the SB needs to worry about the World Athletics Regulations. Those rules are for the elites not the recreational runner. Elites won't be racing in the Superblast
@@run-are right, that doesn't make any sense. Also, a Supertrainer (aka daily trainer with Superfoam) vs a daily trainer wouldn't make much sense either. But if Supertrainer without Plate against Supertrainer/dailytrainer WITH plate is an Option... maybe vs Hoka Mach X(2)?
I had been looking into Mach X2 but I have two pairs of the Cielo X1 that I use as fast long-distance trainers than racing shoes. The impression I got is that the Mach X2 is a tamed down version of Cielo X1 (at much lower cost, of course), so it doesn't seem like it's something I can work into my rotation.
Maybe if you have the right foot shape for it! The upper on the Mach X2 was a disappointment for me for sure. The SB2 and HM2 have given me no trouble for runs. I actually just used the HM for a race today. The Mach X2 made my feet absolutely miserable 3 miles in.
