*PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT* - If you are watching this video on 11/27/24 or11/28/24 and you don't fall asleep before the end screen and you see that part II is listed as "Members Only." *DO NOT PANIC* Do not send me nasty emails, don't unsubscribe, don't tell me I am an asshole or a sellout in the comments and *DO NOT CALL MY SHOP* to tell me you can't watch it. The part II will be posted on the 29th at 5pm just like *I ALWAYS DO.* The reason it says members only is because there are some folks that support our TH-cam channel by becoming a "TH-cam Member" and it gives them early access to all videos I put out. Honestly its a losing formula. Catering to the few who are paying for a free service that is already a win win for both veiwer and creator is insanity. Without the subscribers there would be no channel to become a member of. I dont get it, but I dont watch enough to need content sooner than later anyway so I am not the target audience.
Secondary ground work well on Toyotas. Have a Secondary ground on my 2018 Toyota Corolla. I have a larger than stock battery(Group 34) and starts quick with getting 4 years out of it here in San Antonio
You say a stupid video. But really, it's not. You are still teaching folks things. I had problems with something similar. I looked, checked and looked and found where the harness plug into the module connector had been hit and cracked, making it lose connection. Didn't see it until I removed the module. Thanks for the video
My son 2007 ford mustang same problem, I got lucky went to junk yard, go same exact part number (I just cut brake lines, and took the abs module and pump) i was able to just remove/replace the abs module on the vehicle, just remove the little torxs screws, remove be careful, line up little plungers, install that way you don't have to mess with any brake lines. I worked great for me, and still no issues, I did this 3 years ago
I saw you demonstrate the problem on the dash and next thing I knew I was waking up and you said "there's your problem lady" and the video was almost over. Now that I saw the spoiler at the end I can't go back and watch the whole movie but I guess it's ok. You get credited for a view and I got a 20 minute nap. Can't wait for the sequel! Edit: HA! I just read your pinned comment about falling asleep
A lot can be learned here. Simple visual and wiggle test with a helper using a basic scan tool would still lead you to this ABS module. Great Video Eric! When you DUMB it down? We all learn. Thanks man!
Great approach, Eric! Once again, you went straight to the culprit! That car seems to be half repaired from a collision - that would explain the damaged ABS case.
The spirits, knowing you were not up to par, smiled on you and said “let’s give this guy a break today and make it the first module he lays his paws on.” Seeing there is a part two coming, I’m hoping we take a trip to Wilbert’s with our little pocket tool kit and scavenge us an ABS module.
Sorry you don't feel it a clickin today, but you still crack me up E. "Maybe I should have put my glasses on" is a comment my wife and I share often. Remember old age and treachery are your new skills😂
I got tickled when you found the hole in the unit. I'm not exactly sure how many times you have started a video by going through a visual inspection but even the master forgets! I hate when I do that.
@@stevenakn1 within 30 seconds they would have called that charged an hour diag, parts and labor only to turn around and tell the customer the cluster was broke but they got another problem too
Not silly at all we get to watch you work the problem and to me that's priceless. Plus I have the same Autel Ultra tablet and I get to learn what to see on screen. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for powering through this job and especially for making a video; working when you really don't want to is probably when you should be most proud of getting something productive done (if that makes any sense).
As the proud owner of 9 toyotas over the years, most have gone 300,000 miles. Have always had to clean ground connections over the years. One thing that I do as they get older is add a double eye battery cable between the engine block and the body frame. When ever I start having odd electrical issues I start checking grounds and fuse connections.
Just another bang on video Eric , shows how much damage can be caused by a small bump to the front of the car 😂😂😂😂😂😂, hope your feeling much better , Mrs O will make you feel better with some of her lovely food and care ❤👍👍
Eric you never put out a bad video. Sorry to hear you were in funk, we all get that way from time to time. Love your posts. All vocations have repetitiveness to them that puts one into a funk especially around the Holidays. You have a beautiful family enjoy them and take a break. Your die hard fans will understand, watch old clips to get our SMA fix and drink a toast to one hell of a great mechanic. Have a great Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas 🎄👍
I don't normally comment here, because I'm always amazed at your competence, but it needs to be said. Even on a bad day, you're miles ahead of most of the others on their best days. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
That's a Win, Win, Win for your customer, you and us. Thanks Eric, glad you kept us in the loop. Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and all of your almost 1 million subscribers.
Is a journeyman mechanic I've had the same stuff happened to me you at least can still make it happen and find some of the more obvious stuff that some of us wouldn't even look at!! All the best from Surrey BC Canada
We had an '08 in the family. Bought 1 yr old. That thing was a turd and had allnkonda of problems by the rime we sold it with 120k on it. I hated that car... On the flip side we had a '06 Corolla which was before they had some design changes and that car was great!
Great one Eric ..its still entertaining to a lot of us.the path you took etc etc.but the one line you said brought a laugh to my soul.and that was ....even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while...my sides hurt 😆
Wish more car companies would do the can network like this. Makes diag so much easier since you can take each thing out of the network without taking the entire network down.
@SouthMainAuto Thanks for sucking it up and posting this video. Vids like this one always make my day and are the reason I subscribed! Happy turkey day to you and yours!
I wonder if Mr. O would feel better if he was out in the woods or somethin'. I also wonder if the abs module was damaged in the collision. Thanks Mr. O for doing the vid even when your heart wasn't in it. Thanks-
I know why you don’t feel well, deer season is in and you want to be there instead of here. I understand what it is, my deer season (gun) starts next Monday and I can’t wait for some fresh meat
Definitely a valuable video, Eric!👌 Just picked up the AutelMK808PRO. Got a lot of learnin to do, but watching your diag selections is huge for learni g to navigate this crazy cool device. Thanks for sharin! If you can do it I'm sure as heck gonna give er a try! By the way, I know how you feel, was expecting to replace a water pump today. Turns out, a bolt broke on the power steering pump, just happened to catch a glimpse of a loose bolt as I was removing the top half of the fan shroud. Lucky, unlucky day. At least the broken bolt hole is right on top, but of course its a steel bolt in aluminum.😂 Seeing how it's on my own car, I tightened the the other two unbroken bolts and called er a day until after Thanksgiving.👌 Eric, You and the family have a fantastic Thanksgiving!!!!!🤙
This was actually a good video......i know you weren't in the mood but it's quite helpful. Anyway, I hope you're feeling better. Life can definitely get us down from time to time.
I really like the way your scan tool can save time by scoping the data communication ports through the datalink, without the extra step of adding a breakout box. Gee, maybe I will go back to Autel after all, when it eventually comes time to upgrade. Can you do that with new cars that use an intermediate gateway module?
Depends, some brands use separate com lines from the dlc to the gateway module, these are sometimes referred to as the diagnostic data lines and they are separate from the can network.
I wouldn't have expected the damage to be on that side of the car. Nothing wrong with the video except no cameo by the great white hunter. Enjoy the holiday
Using my master’s degree in electrical engineering I can confirm the correct description of that CAN signal is “whonkay” 😂 But to be technically correct ya gotta emphasize the WH just like how you can’t have pie without cool WHip
Eric you gotta quit calling your videos stupid. You got to the problem using logic and diagnostic skills which is exactly why we're here! Besides.... That wasn't too bad of a diag for a blind squirrel! 😧🤦😁👏🏁💯
The tach jumping like that is scary to me, because that happened in my 1980 Mustang. Then the defroster vents started smoking. Turns out a wire harness fell off the firewall, engine side, and fell on the exhaust. It melted wires from the starter solenoid, all the way to the steering column start switch. It happen far from home. so I had to drop the steering column on the side of the road, and use my speaker wires to patch the bad wires temporarily.
tuff job i did it on my 2001 silverado. Everything rusted had to replace all the brake lines also. Touch any ny cars gas or brakes lines be prepared to replace ,they brake easy from rust

Was it wrong of me to quietly chuckle to myself reading that? Must be frustrating for ya but it sure was funny! Unintentionally or otherwise :)

You should make a tee shirt that says" well there's your problem lady".

You picked the correct build location on your scan tool. If the VIN starts with 4, it’s Kentucky. If it starts with J, it’s Japan. 👍🏻
