  • Ever since Dragonflight first came out I’ve completed countless 60-70 Speedruns in an effort to find the fastest leveling route, and I’ve finally settled on one that allows me to consistently reach Level 70 in only 2 Hours. In this video I’ll explain my route and the setup required so that you can level up you alts as quickly as possible.
    If you're looking to level up your characters as quickly as possible, you can find my written Leveling Guide over at my website, harldan.com.
    This route is specifically for players looking to level up their alts. If you're leveling in Dragonflight for the very first time, make sure you follow my Campaign Route here: • The Fastest 60-70 Camp...
    Most of the footage in this video was taken from two different speedruns, and the full runs are posted on my channel. They both follow similar routes within Azure Span, though they were performed with different classes. I've linked both of the runs below.

    I want to use this pinned comment to address the elephant in the room, namely the fact that I've been saying this video would be finished as early as October 2023, and I'm only finally posting it in May 2024. I've received countless TH-cam comments, Discord messages, or livestream messages asking me when I planned on posting this video, and why it was taking me so long.
    Basically, this is one of the most challenging videos I've ever had to make. Not in terms of length or editing requirements; after all, it's a 13 minute video with relatively light editing. The challenge involved in creating this video was primarily due to external factors beyond the video itself.
    Let's start from the beginning. Dragonflight launched in late 2022, and while I had finished my 1-60 Guide and 60-70 Campaign Guide, I had still barely done testing for 60-70 Adventure Mode leveling. This isn't entirely unexpected; when all leveling content scales alongside you, and you can approach it in any order, there's naturally an insane amount of possible combinations that you need to test in order to definitively say you've found the fastest leveling route. I began doing multiple 60-70 test runs in order to refine my route, and I felt I was nearly ready to publish my Adventure Mode guide when Blizzard announced a few leveling changes coming with Patch 10.1.5. If you're curious, I have an old video 2 minute video explaining how this would impact the route: th-cam.com/video/gVbWmMO-ovI/w-d-xo.html . In summary, Dragonflight dungeons would become much more efficient since quests would be available within the dungeons, and Chromie Time would extend to level 61. This was rather significant, since dungeons were a bit tricky to incorporate into the route, and the extension of Chromie Time would make it so my guide would only be from Levels 61-70 instead of 60-70.
    Naturally, I decided to postpone my guide (which was already ~half finished) until 10.1.5 in order to test the changes and update the route to account for it. Problem is, 10.1.5 came, and the changes Blizzard promised LITERALLY DID NOT WORK. Worse yet, the aforementioned dungeon and Chromie Time changes ARE STILL NOT WORKING IN DRAGONFLIGHT TO THIS VERY DAY!! It is, in all my years of playing WoW, the most baffling mistake Blizzard has ever made. They included stuff in their patch notes and just... didn't implement it. And I've been desperately trying to raise awareness about this for nearly an entire year at this point, and it STILL has not been fixed. Here is a forum post I made in July 2023 about the issue: us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/leveling-is-broken-in-patch-1015/1634417
    This put me in a really tough spot. Do I ship the guide I had already been working on since the "changes" are not actually working? Or do I continue to delay my guide in the hopes that Blizzard implements the changes? If I picked the former, and Blizzard did end up fixing the bugs, my guide would be immediately rendered out of date, forcing me to replace it and screwing me over in the TH-cam Algorithm. I ended up choosing the latter, but this meant I still didn't have an updated 60-70 Guide on my channel. Around this time I also completed my Kul'tiran Druid 10-70 World Record run (th-cam.com/video/8YN6DM3kH0Y/w-d-xo.html ), and I really wanted to release the guide to go along with it, but I had to wait.
    Well, I suppose it was good that I chose to wait, because Blizzard introduced Dreamsurges in early September, which meant I had to scrap all progress I made on the guide up to that point. As I began doing test runs for Dreamsurge 60-70 Speedrunning, I quickly realized that it would be an absolute nightmare to route everything, since I had to account for weekly rotations and RNG buffs. This was the point when I lost any interest whatsoever in Dragonflight speedleveling, but I pushed through because I really wanted to get the guide done so that people could use it to level their alts. Later that month I finished a 2 hour run on a Fury Warrior (th-cam.com/video/bZurtDGAC8c/w-d-xo.html ), and you can see a lot of that footage in this guide. At this point I already felt fairly confident in my route, and I was going to finish my guide after only a handful of additional testing. Unfortunately, just a few days later a viewer came to me with an insane discovery that completely changed my route.
    In Patch 10.1 Blizzard introduced a brand new questline in Thaldraszus, but they messed something up with the experience values. Each quest was giving roughly 10x the normal experience, and if you completed it during a Thaldraszus Dreamsurge, you would gain roughly 5 levels in only 30 minutes. In early October, I recorded a speedrun using this method (th-cam.com/video/2KrQHVb0BiU/w-d-xo.html ) where I leveled from 60-70 in only 1 HOUR AND 20 MINUTES!! This was a colossal timesave compared to my previous run on my Fury Warrior, but I had no idea if the questline's high experience was intentional or not, so I didn't want to include it in my final guide only to have it nerfed. To play it safe, I uploaded a separate short video (th-cam.com/video/2vWtYnKblfA/w-d-xo.html ) which explained how to access the questline, and I also begged Blizzard to not nerf it into the floor, as Thaldraszus would be the worst Dreamsurge zone by far without this questline. To nobody's surprise, fun was detected, fun was obliterated. The Thaldraszus route was now dead, and I was back to square one.
    This is where I had to make another difficult decision. Do I say fuck it and go ahead with a guide based solely on my Fury Warrior 60-70 route, or do I wait for the Azure Span Dreamsurge to roll around once again so that I can perform additional testing to ensure it's ACTUALLY the fastest method? I had really wanted to get a run below 2 hours, so I would have felt really bad posting a guide when my fastest run had just barely missed the milestone. Around this time ICC was also releasing in Wrath Classic, and I was doing PTR testing for Patch 10.2, which released shortly after. While the 60-70 Guide was important to my channel, so were these patch releases, so I chose to focus on that instead of putting out a half-assed guide. (cont below)

      Fast fowarding a bit, the next available week where Azure Span overlapped with Darkmoon Faire (a necessary combination for speedruns), a little thing called Season of Discovery was also releasing. This is something that I had been very excited about ever since I heard it announced at Blizzcon, and I wasn't going to miss the launch just to do more 60-70 test runs. Nothing major was happening in January, so I figured I'd do my runs then. As you probably already know if you watched the first few seconds of this guide, I did end up completing a Speedrun in January which BARELY scraped under the 2 hour mark (th-cam.com/video/JzXPw7HbKC8/w-d-xo.html ), and I finally felt confident enough in my route to make a guide for it. Blizzard did NEARLY screw me again by announcing a new feature, Follower Dungeons, which I of course had to test in order to see if it had any viability for speedleveling. Thankfully the dungeons ended up being extremely slow, which I covered in a separate video (th-cam.com/video/Y0zCOPc94fs/w-d-xo.html ), but it was clear they wouldn't impact my route at all. So now that all of my problems are resolved, it should be easy enough to finish the guide, right?
      Welllll, this is where things change from being a challenge due to external factors to something a lot more simple: mental struggle & burnout. I won't lie, at this point I was already exhausted just by the idea of making the 60-70 guide. For months on end, every single time I thought I was ready to finish it, my plans would be destroyed, and it's hard to really convey through text the emotional toll that takes on you. To add onto this, my final 60-70 sub 2 hour run, which I was REALLY proud of, MASSIVELY underperformed, and I'd be lying if I said that this didn't upset me. A few weeks later I also made a video that, in my opinion, is one of the best things I've ever done. Together with one of my friends, I abused an exploit on the PTR to level a character from 1-70 in only 1 hour (th-cam.com/video/dfHsjqwPE_c/w-d-xo.html ). While the run itself was somewhat fun to put together, the main point of the video was to demonstrate the importance of enforcing a consistent ruleset within speedruns, and the moral dilemma involved with abusing loopholes in order to claim you have the "World Record". I even used my facecam during this video, which is something I NEVER do, just because I felt the topic was really important, and I was proud of the video as a whole. Once again, this video performed far below my expectations, which, again, was extremely demoralizing.
      From that point up until this past week, I took multiple cracks at a script for this video, but each time I failed to make any meaningful progress. It really was just a mental barrier at this point, where due to a combination of frustration over the previous events, and the inherent complicated nature of this leveling route, I couldn't really put together the right words to make the guide. Frankly I'm still worried that this video doesn't cover enough, as I opted to hyperfocus on the Dreamsurge side of things, and I decided to only skim the actual quest routing since it's rather straightforward. I'm sure some people will be upset that I didn't give more detail on the exact questing path, but I really didn't feel that this is the best format to describe something like that, and I've already written up detailed outlines on my website. Ultimately I figured it was better to make a more concise video that tackles the important aspects of the route, since if I tried to expand it any further I was genuinely close to burning out completely and scrapping the video entirely.
      In summary, I know that many people have been expecting this video for months, and I'm truly sorry that I wasn't able to finish it any sooner. You may not agree with my reasons for delaying the video as long as I have, but I atleast wanted to outline them here in the hopes that some people understand. There is a silver lining though, as making this video was such a miserable experience that it has made me reconsider my approach for The War Within and future expansions. Since I only created a single 1-60 guide that was made to last the entire expansion, I figured the most logical step would be to do the exact same thing for 60-70 leveling. It's now clear to me that new expansion leveling is always going to be subject to change, so I should focus on making shorter guides reviewing the current fastest route instead of trying to make one gigantic guide like I do for Chromie Time stuff. I've taken this approach for Gear Catchup guides throughout the patches in Dragonflight, and the reception to that has been fantastic, so I'm confident it will also work for leveling guides in The War Within.
      Anyways, I hope you enjoy this video, even if it is late, and you can look forward to additional leveling guides for MoP Remix and Cataclysm Classic.

      Hey I just wanted to say thank you for all the time and effort you put into these guides. They are truly appreciated, I'm sorry to hear this one has been such a mental burden, it sucks blizzard just kind of screwed it up. (Similar to how this patch somehow they bricked the dragon transmog station to be requiring level 70 literally bricking the main quest for new players unless they get a haircut as a workaround. They also made the portal to valdrakken require lvl 70 somehow 😂)
      Anyway thank you for the videos and written guides you put up, they are a huge help for people less familiar with the game like myself. The website especially is really nice to just have on a second monitor and it can handhold even a moron like me to decent leveling times.
      I can't stress enough that despite the negative feelings you've had there are people like me out there that really really appreciate the effort you put in so thank you!

    (Pandaria is out on may 20 I think )

    • @Harldan1
      @Harldan1  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pandaria is on the 16th, Cata is the 20th.
      But to answer your questions, yes to both. The problem with MoP Remix leveling is that it was VERY broken during the only testing weekend available, which means it's impossible to put together a guide before launch. Any leveling guide you see from other people prior to launch will not be accurate (though I'm sure some people will attempt it because clickbait $$). I plan on streaming nonstop once MoP Remix goes live, and hopefully I'll have enough information by the end to put together a solid guide.
      As for Cataclysm, I've already been doing a lot of test runs, and I plan to have a detailed 80-85 guide out shortly before launch. Some people also requested information around pre-questing, and I might cover that in a second channel video, but I don't want to include it in a polished leveling guide.
      For levels 1-80 in Cata, I plan on eventually putting together a detailed guide for it, but there's way too much testing that still needs to be done. This will be my top priority once Cata Launch & MoP Remix are taken care of.

    Thanks for the detailed information. I would like to add a few points. 1. Almost every world quest in any zones are worth to complete because they are way easier than most of the normal quests and for some group quests, you are likely to get help from many other players. Also there will be way more world quests in the dreamsurge zone than the other 3 zones. 2. In the dreamsurge weeks for Azure and Ohuna, there will be an invasion camp event happening, make sure you will go there and kill that dragon boss - which will appear very often once the progress bar will be filled. This dragon will drop a head which you can turn in to complete the quest, WAIT till the dreamsurge buff of exp to pop and then turn in the head, you will instantly gain around 50% or more on your exp bar for the current level. 3. Professions- I prefer to pick up mining and herbing from the start and then remove one of it to replace it with tailoring or engineering later to utilize the 60% of a level exp gain for first time crafting from the profession.

    • @Harldan1
      @Harldan1  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Gotta disagree with the world quests point, the vast majority of world quests are extremely inefficient. They give about the same experience as a normal quest, and most of them take a good amount of time to complete. Keep in mind that while questing you're usually aiming to complete multiple quests at the same time, so world quests lost a lot of value unless they're directly along the standard route.
      I was unaware of the Fyrakk Assault boss rewarding experience, but based on the value displayed on Wowhead it definitely seems worth doing, provided you fly in and get the tag at the last second. I'd imagine it's better to save that until level 69 to maximize the experience you gain. If Dreamsurge leveling wasn't so awful to play through this may be a neat optimization to include for future runs, but alas, I have no interest in doing more.
      Finally, while I know many people enjoy gathering herbs/ore while leveling, it's usually a time loss. Do what you enjoy at the end of the day, but I atleast wanted to give the disclaimer that it doesn't actually save time.

    • @jimmydance4840
      @jimmydance4840 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Harldan1 regarding the word quests, here is my view : for most players that are not leveling up in one session trying to break record or making a video, doing world quest actually is very efficient, first of all, lots of the world quests will give you gears upgrade specifically on trinkets and other parts not covered from heirlooms) and as I said, they are very easy to complete and normally wont take more than 1-2 minutes (dragonride is usally a minute, climbing usually 30-40 seconds, pet battle 30-50 seconds). The other key point is this : while questing in a zone, it will be very difficult for you to "save" some quests to turn them in only when the dreamsurge buff will pop up because zone quests are mostly have a chain, so the max you can save to wait is 2-3 quests to turn in the same time within that chain when you will have the buff. But for world quests, many players already aware that you can actually save the last step of most of the "progression" world quests and only turn them in during the buff - this is exactly how players are maximize the gold reward with dreamsurge buff for their world quests.

    • @jimmydance4840
      @jimmydance4840 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Harldan1 The reason I included gathering is based on normal players playing style rather than leveling in a rush/single session. If you are wearing herilooms and leveling with rest exp, then gathering is definitely worth to pickup because you are gaining the max benefit from it, not to mention if your character is a monk. In fact, I have leveled many characters during the 30-60 range purely by gathering in very specific spots (hyperspawn) with rest exp and I found it more efficient than questing.

      The only minor differences are that you unlock flying automatically and for free (which just saves a bit of extra time), and it's slightly faster to run TBC dungeons while doing quests in the 10-30 range. Otherwise the route is exactly the same as it has always been. Based on datamining, I also expect this will still be the fastest route for 1-70 leveling in The War Within.
