There was a time where i had given up on hope on being a minority in this country,i spent many times reading books about Europe and was hoping to leave,and then this man came as major political figure and having met him in person in 2013, I found that sense of nationalism again. He truly is the people's President, we all love him sincerely as much as he loves us. Laurensia ( a catholic school) recently opened a new branch, but the construction was delayed due to the people in the area not wanting any catholic schools and churches near them. It is actually kind of sad. But there are some areas which are christian majority, and the same thing is happening to the muslims in there. Its actually sickening how intolerant the people here can be.

This should be distinguished from Mehulika's translation of "...We are the world's largest Muslim nation" since Indonesia does not hold Islamic law as national law nor is its government run in Islamic manner.

Too many petty questions. Jokowi is a firm man, he will not bullied by some fool to be politically correct.
But you do have to admit, the language gab between the two must've played it's part. The way Jokowi answers timidly, with general statements must've made the journalist feel that she wasn't really given an answer.
This piece was for an international audience they must've tried to put forth questions with western values to have more appeal, so you can't really blame the journalist for doing her job the topics she brought forth were probably meant as a chance for Jokowi to clarify things.
Anastasia That's her problem innit? If she got off her arse and did a bit of research into Indonesian sociology and what the discourse is in our society, she might have asked more pertinent questions.
Not everyone has to pander to some bollocks flavor of the month topic that is being glorified in the west. I applaud Jokowi giving her the cold shoulder with generic answers leaving her frustrated.
From my point of view the journalist tried her best to promote Indonesia, she pointed out the skeleton's in the closet that might have been the only thing foreigners have ever heard of about Indonesia and gave a chance for Jokowi to break stereotypes and biases. Those were not meant to attack, she might not have delivered the questions perfectly, but that doesn't mean the questions given aren't important.
Anastasia we walk in thin ice, answer which could satisfy all parties may not exist, specially for polemic topics which could incite social/political instability, vague answer is splendid imao.
Its a waste interviewed by this stupid woman. Jokowi is an amazing man!

President Widodo is much less confrontational than Duterte of the Philippines and far more mild mannered. But he is equally hard line on the issue of drugs.
Nebiros21 well you're right.. Indonesian here, the only problem of Jokowi's presidency is conflict between Indonesia-Australia for execution of Australian drug smuggler. Duterte is great, he is so popular for making Philippines a saver place. The only problem of his leadership is the decrease of Philippines-USA relationship, but for me it's not something like a very big problem.
