I can understand your pov and fair enough. But it's how good my stays have been. Would be the same if I made up negatives just to avoid people thinking is a sales pitch. But I guess maybe it is in fact an ad as I actively recommend Rosewood HK to my clients. And I can make a commission from ANY hotel. I get your point and thanks for sharing! Just to note: I think I still spent around USD 40,000 on my recent stay at Rosewood so it's certainly not an influencer deal or anything like that.

As you can imagine, a large of my part is trying all types of hotels to find the best so I allocate a good budget for hotels. Very fortunate to have incredible clients and hotel partners. Which has allowed the business to well. But I didn't start here. When I was younger, I couldn't afford to travel at all. It took some time and luck to get here :)

Great review. We love the Rosewood HK, beautiful decor and view. Perhaps we were unlucky, but the suite we stayed in had a bad smell, brown stains on the carpet, and animal furs on the sofa. The reason for this is that dogs and cats are allowed in the rooms. Next time, I'll inquire if there is a pet-free floor.

Fascinating "review." One has to wonder what the ranking criteria are😁. Interesting décor; a mixed bag. 2:44 3:06 Homely curtains obstructing the view. 2:29 9:43 No mixer taps, separate ones that look as though they would be hard to grip. Light coloured furnishings that look will show the dirt. So many mirrored surfaces that housekeeping must loathe. 14:38 Toilet with lid open - what a faux pas. Clearly to each their own; I think I'll stick with my favourites in Tung Chung and Jordan.

He also noticed that the back alleys of the worker's area were quite messy (with dishes placed on the floor of the corridor) as he was able to have a peek because the door wasn't closed properly.

Just stayed there last night. Most overrated hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Location is horrible. Very inconvenient. Room is so so. Bathroom sinks look very cheap and get dirty easily. Bath water was very hot but shower water could only get to lukewarm at best. Could hear my neighbours having a casual conversation. Wooden toothbrush made me gag. Only single amenity was skin lotion. Headboard was cloth which is disgusting. No desk for working. Breakfast restaurant was so cold it makes the food frozen within five minutes. Service is great but NOT worth the price.

But Holt's Cafe was always fine in terms of temp. when I visited for lunch. Curious, what are some of the hotels you've stayed and liked? Aside from Upper House and Pullman.

All the issues you stated suck, but calling the location "horrible" is a major exaggeration. Rosewood is literally located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui with many malls, transport services, and even legacy hotels like The Peninsula right beside it. I wouldn't call it "horrible" by any means..

@@haotangDon't get me wrong...the stay was fantastic, but for the price and their number 2 world rating, I guess i expected more. It is definitely more of a see and be seen hotel. I was at the very back of the Cafe so maybe it was just our table, but it ruined the experience because I was in a hurry to get out of there because we were frozen (I had a jacket on too). I have stayed at pretty much every 5 star hotel in HK. My favorites are Upper House (which has an awesome amenity kit like first class on a plane, plus the mini bar is free, sans alcohol) and K11 Artus (which really has the super wow factor but to get nit picky they had a flash like strobe on the fire alarm above the bed which was literally torturing me when i was trying to sleep as it blinked on and off every few seconds). Pullman gets my value mention because the location is great, and if you book a club room you can basically have breakfast, tea time and unlimited hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer at night. The Rosewood Grand Harbour Corner Suite runs like $3,000 USD, so I am more of a value picker for 5 stars because I would never pay that much for a hotel room (although Upper House upgraded me once to a suite, which was the nicest room i have ever stayed at in Hong Kong).

@@haotangAnd serious question because my girlfriend and me were honestly wondering...are those holes in the blackout blinds on purpose to look like stars in the sky? Of which was another one of my whiny gripes. Blackout blinds should...black out.

But Hong Kong is a hell hole. There’s nothing to do there. Boring AF. It’s always Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, Mong Kok. That’s about it. Conrad Ambassador Suite in Macau looks better than this. It has a cinema room and boasts more than 2,000 sq.ft.

egg tart is portuguese pastery, not local HK.

You're absolutely correct that the origin of it is in fact Portuguese. However, when Portuguese settlement between 1557 to 1999 took place in Macau, the egg tart very much became part of the local culture. The HK version I referred to technically has a bit of British custard tart influence / fusion as well. Anyone who grew up in Hong Kong over the past few generations would in fact associate egg tart as a local food. No different than Americans thinking Burgers are local American food. Even though the origin isn't at all.

@@haotang Im Portuguese, so i found it odd, but then i made a reflection on the potencial cultural impact of Macau on HK, and made sense. Its a great pastry 😁 anyways great video man.

@@aptyp3109 Yes, regardless of its origin, it's absolutely delicious and I eat it almost daily anytime I visit HK. Thank you guys for sharing it with the world!
