Almost $2K for a balcony room on the 1st floor - not even a suite. Holes in the pillow and some worn furniture pieces. The steak frites were overpriced and no excuse for a 40 minute wait. The meat didn’t even look very good. Breakfast looked good and public areas were gorgeous. But what was really unacceptable was the lack of warmth or even decent service. Strong pass for me, even if money were no object.
Totally agree, I will never travel to France no matter the circumstances, they absolutely despise European or Caucasian people period. Very racist country.
True class is accepting people for who they are In Germany, my daughter and I went into a very expensive clothes shop. The lady, whose family owned the shop, was lovely It was very clear that we were financially not her target market, but she was so friendly and relaxed with us, exactly how it should be - regardless of finances, we should treat each other with respect
Indeed mark of true class in an establishment is that they treat everyone equally and make no assumptions about how much money you might have. The places that act pretentious are often for wannabes and people that want to pretend they are better than everyone else so they like feeling like the riff raff are being kept out while they get treated better, it's an ego trip. I'd wager this hotel is the place in Monaco that people traveling beyond their means want to stay in because of the name, meanwhile the standards and service has slipped and the truly wealthy have moved on to somewhere else because they don't care about bragging they stayed there.
I had the same experience at a “salon” in Rome. The owner was amazing & I have the wonderful memory of being in there. It was very special, respectful, warm and friendly.
While I agree with that attitude, I do think the location of the Hotel de Paris makes it hard to keep that attitude. Treating every tourist that goes in there as a potential billionaire and giving them the same treatment as they would a guest is simply not possible.
Of course, and yes I would agree -a billionaire in a hotel is bound to get exclusive top class treatment because they’ve paid for it. Not every one can have the same level of service. But that’s not the point I was making. My point is that it’s not necessary to treat people with disdain simply because you think they aren’t financially viable. You can still be polite and pleasant. Also - one day - that person you’ve been rude to, may just become financially viable. It’s why the famous dress shop scene in Pretty Woman is so memorable.
I have lived in Monaco for a many years , but I have lived and travelled all over the world. I have found that the French are the rudest people that I have ever dealt with, and customer service in France is virtually non existent
What I love about your videos is that they beautifully depict the feeling of tension that is inside these hotels. For 25 years I went into these places for business working for a luxury car brand , the biggest issue I had was simply feeling out of place, I didn’t grow up with those layers of granduer so when you finally do get in there you realise not only do you have the wrong clothes but you feel like you’re even having to walk differently. The other thing I found is many of the world’s great hotels are soulless , they don’t live up to the brochures or the drone shots. So in the end , I prefer to rent an apartment or house and simply try to live in whatever area I’m visiting. So your videos serve as a useful reminder to me, to remember what is real and what is not , real is your beautiful family and friends , and whilst being able to afford whatever you want is not the worst thing in the world, neither is it the best.
Imagine F1 pit commentator Ted Kravitz casually turning up to this hotel in his trademark shorts & sandals? Plus you’d think a room with a balcony literally overlooking Monaco’s 2nd corner would be flawless to the last fabric!
Many years ago I stood in front of the hotel ,but was afraid to enter . Now your revue showed me what I would have liked, and what I wouldn't have. Thankfully it was Tim who showed me the interior of the Bldg. You do the very beast job of reviewing a hotel ! As always I am very grateful to you !!
No they don't need to have the right attitude for tourists wanting to take selfies and those who book a single night for a novelty experience, these establishments exist to cater for the wealthy. If its yet another branch of a Premier Inn or Double Tree then the complaints of rude + poor service has legitimacy ...
I get what you're saying but, after all, it's a private business and they can run it how they want. I'm sure they deal with a lot of threats because of their rich/famous customers they get all the time. The camera that Tim carries around is probably a bit of a red flag for them. Not to mention that Monte Carlo is a huge target in and of itself.
@@ThreeFiddy1701 what if that tourist staying one night was a billionaire? I mean would they take the risk of being rude to someone they think does not have a status?
I lived in Monaco decades ago as a Nanny. It was run by a mafia and you had to tip everywhere you went, as the family of my charge would give me the money to do it otherwise they would totally ignore you. I speak fluent French and it made no difference at all to their aloofness. 😂 I have only seen the front inside of the casino which apparently was all re done in 2019. I was told that there is a secret underground from the hotel to the casino, but haven't experienced that. The best experience I had was to be invited onto some of the massive yachts. Even the vases onboard were the size of a fridge freezer, everything so large and money dripping off people with designer clothes etc. The road in Monte Carlo is the race track and many times I would drive with the children I nannyed for, pretending to be a race driver 😊 had great fun 🚗😊 Enjoyed your video, lovely to remember and to see the changes. I still prefer living on the Greek Islands, people are so friendly. Maybe you can visit one of them one day 😊
Interesting comment. Sometimes I come across videos from Monte Carlo and although the city is nicely located and the architecture is interesting in some places, the form of wealth that pours out of every building there is kitschy and repulsive to me. You write about the mafia controlling the city when you lived there, and I must admit that, looking from a distance, it also looks like that to me - as if people from poor backgrounds suddenly got their hands on huge amounts of money and behaved like little children in a toy store.

That mafia is still there. The Prince son, who take over the place is trying hard to take the mafia only into business affairs, like construction and estates. The Hotel de Paris , before the grand renovation, was one of they legit business. That Hotel is made for sissy -people get escorted by all professionals types, and the flashy new money. The family oriented and the well treated people stay at The Hermitage. Even the world famous restaurantes in the Hotel de Paris are gone. Tacky weddings and receptions are the left overs. The Hotel can smell with drains, smoke of cigarette and maryjane... The Hotel Metropole is also friendly. Monaco is not a place of hospitality. Tim, you were very welcomed, since they offered you one of the best hotel view rooms.
I know plenty of rich people, that don’t look particularly rich. They don’t wear flashy clothing nor expensive jewellery/ watches……they are worth over 100 million.- 500 million…Rich screams, Wealth whispers…customer service staff must never judge..nor should anyone..
I live in Monaco..By and large, the people that are dressed up during the day are the tourists. Personally, like many residents here, I ten to wear shorts and a t-shirt, and occasionally dress up in the evening.
I treat all hotel staff with respect and expect the same in return. I would not have handled their rudeness as well as you did. The pillow case damage speaks volumes, all frills and no knickers.
I got to stay in a room in Monaco overlooking the ocean with a balcony. It was Princess Grace hospital and I had my appendix out there in 2006. My doctor was Dr. Ferrari, not joking. I got sick on a cruise and thank God the second doctor I saw on board figured it was appendicitis so it was off to the hospital for an ultrasound and that's where I ended up for the next few days. My ship left port but I got to stay there for ten days experiencing Monte Carlo and taking a train to Cannes. Good thing i had insurance because it was $$$. But what an adventure and I loved recovering there by walking around and experiencing everything. Definitely want to go back, but stay out of the hospital 😊
Your reviews have so much value because they are balanced honest and come from a point of view of an ordinary person. This is so refreshing. I'm so surprised at the service taking so long .
I have found that The Ritz is absolutely, the best at making guests feel welcomed and at least where I stayed, you wouldn't find a bit of chipped furniture, I assure you. The timely service is world class, and the food is superb. A stroll down the hall with anything remotely resembling crystal, hanging from the ceiling, is indeed, just that, and exclusively, the best sort! I will always love The Ritz. I enjoyed your video. It was most informative, and I'll certainly, think twice before staying at The Hotel de Paris.
I noticed that some of the best hotels in the world can be the worst in the world for missing the little things that can ruin the experience of staying at the hotel
@@WalkWithMeTimI think in most cases you’re right but I got the best , most sincere amazing warm service at the shard. I was expecting the opposite. I went with my daughter who was about 9 at the time and we got treated like superstars ( although we were clearly at the low end of the clientele money status wise 🤣)
I am not sure if the content is available. But, I would be interested in Best rated 2-4 Star Hotel reviews. Maybe something along the lines of Getting a great experience that your average person/family could do. Lets say I went to Visit the UK. What are some great places to stay at a mid to maybe even lower cost side of things.
Another place I don't want to visit. Balzac's quote about "behind every great fortune, lies a great crime" is what I'm reminded of when I see opulence like that.
6 Yet, you show no respect to poor people. Don’t rich people oppress you and drag you into court? 7 Don’t they curse the good name ⌞of Jesus⌟, the name that was used to bless you? James 2;6
"Benidorm vibes" -priceless. Staff attitude reminds of the movie Pretty Woman where Vivienne tries to buy clothes in a snooty fashion shop on Rodeo Drive.
I had Excactly the same experience in that hotel, felt on the verge of losing my temper everytime i had to talk to a member of staff. I stay at a hotel to relax not to feel stressed !!!!
I’m not surprised about your comment regarding the rude hotel Staff. I have experienced exactly the same rudeness on the few occasions I have visited France. I find them quite arrogant
Yep. I didn't enjoy my visit in Nice and Monaco back in 2010. Everyone was just plain rude and this is coming from someone who grew up in NYC. I wouldn't go back again.
If the bathroom drains smelled foul, I would have requested another room. And NO Excuse for the ripped pillowcase. My goodness. Thanks for your honest review. I will never stay at this hotel.
@@WalkWithMeTim That's what i was wondering: Why didn't you ask for another room? Politeness aside I'd directly and politely ask the reception for another one then told the security guard to take a hike. Smiling and politely of course.
@@theriddler6073maybe the 1st floor is where they put all the ‘riff-raff’ 😂 with rooms not up to par, and Tim not getting a higher up room like he requested. I’m not for one second saying Tim is ‘riff-raff’ but in terms of like classism etc
I am a regular guest at the hotel. And there are many things I love about the Hotel de Paris. I also smelled the smell coming from the drains in the bathroom last summer (6th floor in the rotunda - new building). I reported it and the hotel staff made an effort to remove the smell. Unfortunately to no avail. A friend who was a guest in the hotel at the same time is a civil engineer. In his opinion, the smell came from a construction error in the drainage pipes. A major intervention is needed to eliminate the problem.
Monte Carlo is no longer what it was during the time of Prince Rainier. Your experience at the Paris hotel made me uncomfortable even while sitting watching at home. The money you've spent during your stay should be considered lost or thrown down the drain so never again you should have gone elsewhere. I salute your kindness and politeness.
There are some people in Monaco whose money comes from dubious sources. The British writer Somerset Maugham called it “a sunny place for shady people.”
Stunning Hotel , breakfast looked lovely too…. Shame the rest of the experience wasn’t 5 star , You’ve definitely had a more pleasant customer service in far cheaper hotels!
The French are renowned for being enormous snobs. Your sin was that you didn't speak French. Even the cleaners are offended if you don't speak their language & they really don't like the English! Don't take it personally, it's just how things are. 😁
@@samn6498I stayed in the Hotel de Paris before the pandemic, in January 2019. I had been traveling in Provence and the Cote d’Azur and wanted to end my journey with a bang. I think I paid about €700 or €800 a night for a much better experience, with a larger room in a higher floor, also with a sea view and a view of the Prince’s palace. Weather was chill but very sunny. 38:50 Breakfast wasn’t included. The staff were very polite and helpful, maybe because there weren’t many guests. Also the casino, just a few roulette tables open. The restaurant you mentioned, Le Grill, was closed for the winter. I went instead to the Le Louis XV, which is managed by Alain Ducasse. I had an absolutely amazing dinner, very expensive, about €400, but with champagne, wines, four courses etc. I was maybe the only diner there that evening, with amazing service. My lesson: always travel to the Mediterranean in winter. That was the practice in the XIXth century. You’ll have a much better reception.
I went here years ago on one of my dads business trips. I always remember that long corridor to the pool. The pool used to be very dark, black slate like tile on all the walls. Looks much better now. The manager of the restaurant for breakfast would always have a whole table waiting just for me, and I was just a 12 year old kid on my own
You have this impression since you do not speak French and do not understand how the French communicate with each other. Watching a group of French talking to each other gives you the impression that they yell at each other - yet, they just have a very animated discussion - body language included.
You’re the perfect man to review this, humble and fair. I was not surprised to find out just how rude staff and security were, exactly what I expected.
Shame you had to deal with rude staff, no need for it, rich or poor doesn't cost anything to be polite does it?!! I think I would feel very uncomfortable there. Thanks for the video, always very entertaining❤
The staff can scan you (after years of experience) and get an accurate estimate of your net worth, then behave accordingly. They are so old-fashioned they don't understand reviews like this and the influence of the internet.
@@davidjames579 I work with Saudi's, they wear clothes worth thousands that look like stuff you can buy at primark. They learn to pick up on the pattern of the stitching or how the shoulders look and know off heart, "oh that's a Totême". How they act in american psycho is actually very realistic. I can guarantee they knew Tim was wearing what they call "imitation" fashion.
I have visited Monaco twice on a cruise ship. We saw the changing of the guard and got a tour of the palace, visited the casino, the cathedral, and had a lovely tea at the Hotel De Paris. It was all very well organized and a lot more economical than your visit. We also had more adventure when the tender took us back to the ship as a storm was brewing. It was very rough, and stepping from the tender to the ship was like jumping off a fast moving elevator as it swept past your floor. I like your videos. They are comprehensive and very fair. The Hotel Dr Paris looks like a place to avoid. It is always a bad sign when the staff behave as though they are grander than the people paying to stay there.
Ever watch that TV series Hustle, that's how you need to act. I'm sure there is defiantly a way to make yourself appear as someone your not with snobby people in these hotels. Takes loads of self confidence though.
@@mutley23able If someone is giving off a snobby, self- important attitude, look at them as though they have a piece of lettuce stuck between their teeth.
Tim's Hollister clothes gave it away though, especially the fake jeans..... I guess you'd maybe get more respect with the simple no-logo, say, H&M stuff, which could look more expensive.
@@pffyespffBut why should he have to? His money is as good as anyones and the hotel took it so he should be treated as a guest not a bum who walked in off the street, just because he wasn’t wearing designer labels.

Wow, that is quite a blunder with a new addition. The SBM seem to have some issues as of late. I know they have changed some personel at the top, maybe the attention to detail wasn't the best in recent years.
Lucky you to stay there regularly my late sister has a place in menton and Iv passed this hotel many times and allways thought I’d feel not worthy to take a whiff at the drains lol
Bad smells put me really off places. When I was looking for a home to buy I came across a smelly place and instantly dismissed it even though it fitted my needs.
This looks very clean and fairly comfortable. Stunning views. Having an adult gift pack could be a clue why cameras are not welcome. That hole in the pillow is probably where the listening device was hidden😂😂😂
Great video as always Tim. Honestly the management really needs a good slap. Your experience with the smell in the bathroom, blocked drain, no mattress encasement, and rude staff is inexcusable. There is nothing wrong with heavy security but their presence should be concealed by being totally discreet, as to avoid guests feeling like they are under constant surveillance. Thanks for sharing Tim.
Thanks for this. I really enjoyed it. I have to say, I will never view hotels the same ever since I started watching this channel. I just got through staying in two different hotels, and I automatically started checking out the room and the hallways. Thanks a lot.😂😂 Love your channel ❤
An iconic hotel that has turned itself into a tourist trap by charging for everything and not providing good service. The nicked side table with the super shabby paint job is when I said NO Sewerage smells, torn bedding and rude staff
I'm sure I was hired for a North Coast Inn desk decades ago because I automatically adjusted a lamp shade and pulled the sofa cushion cordage back into position during the interview. We had to spend a night in each room, critique required. Staff exchanged stays with fellow inns. Same reports required. The staff Tim encountered seem to have no true proprietary feeling for the place.
I love Monaco/Monte Carlo, been there many times. I always stay at the Fairmont, it is a wonderful hotel with great staff and not too posh like the HdP or Hermitage. They have a great rooftop pool and restaurant with a magnificent view over the mediterranean and Monaco. The rooms are nice, all have a balcony and the breakfast is enormous. Very recommendable.
The helicopter pilots probably weren't rude, they were so used to shepherding obnoxious rich folk about they just assumed you wouldn't want to chat 😂 Congrats on the channel growth, very well deserved!
@@WalkWithMeTim Of all of these great comments, this is a good place for me to jump in. I have close friends who are old school billionaires, and we are in the $50-75m range ourselves - we and our billionaire friends are the opposite of the rude/spoiled rich folks you are describing. We get so much enjoyment out of the PEOPLE everywhere we go, staff, locals. Those people make our experiences wonderful. But one only taps into that wonder by being warm, genuine, and considerate. I always try to honor our hosts by speaking as much of their native language as I can and having a laugh with them at my poor language skills. So there are lots of nice rich people, but a visible, rotten bunch of them give the rest a bad name. Same is true with staff. We don't wear clothing/jewelry that stands out. We dress like Tim in most respects. But we have found great staff in most places. The places where staff are rude get no further attention from us. Monte Carlo is the last place I would expect to find good people, staff or locals. Everything about it is oriented toward over the top opulence and fakeness. Stay in Nice, visit local (non-tourist) family businesses, and you will meet some of the warmest, most lovely people anywhere. Then just take the train to Monte Carlo to watch "the show". And thank you, Tim, for your great work! Your videos are really good and enjoyable.
It's just OK, needs to be cleaner and chips all over disgusting, and their attention to detail is not good at All ! I know I worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, last job for the Queen of mean!
I stayed there some years back, it was outright one of the worst stays of my life. I'm an Arab, I was getting looks everywhere I went. The racism is just amazing. I checked out early.
You will experience racism everywhere outside of the Middle East ... don't single out Monte Carlo, it's not a friendly place for anyone except if you are someone who brings in wealth ...
When I went on a cruise and visited Egypt the operators (us) said don't meet the locals. I ignored their advice. I love meeting locals. I despise recism. Come to England!
Definitely not worth the price! The security guards ‘ death stares is the rudest thing on planet Earth. Besides, having to wait for 40 minutes for your steak to be brought is unacceptable. Not terribly good vibes on Monaco. Thank you for your fabulous video, always such a huge pleasure to watch!❤
I was in Paris last year with the family, upon entering the hotel lobby and reception the not so friendly staff eyed us up and down, waitress staff in restaurant with dead pan faces, french hotel residents at nearby tables would constantly stare at you, i would give a rude stare back at them, but we had a great time in the city hopping on and off the river boats exploring the city. When we left the hotel on our last day, receptioninst was rude when handing over room cards, as a Scotsman i gave him a piece of my mind, and basically responded "Who the hell do you think you are, your a fool mister" Would not visit Paris again. When i did travel and work in France many years ago, for the two years there in the countryside, the locals were lovely and very friendly, have great memories. 😊
It must be a super uncomfortable feeling staying in a place where people keep looking at you with suspicion. I know a similar feeling myself, after I went to a rather “high end” restaurant a few years ago. I’m an average guy, I try my best to look presentable 😅 But the lady on the front desk wasn’t able to tell me that they were fully booked fast enough, while looking down her nose at me 😅
First of all Tim congratulations on reaching over 400,000 subscribers very well deserved 👏 i can understand the security could be tight in a hotel like with no doubt many rich & famous guests however to treat you the way they did ( even when not filming) is pretty dam unacceptable 😤 but well done Tim for keeping your composure & still giving us another fantastic detailed video 👍
You should consider George V in Paris. I had the most wonderful experience. They have an exquisite high tea, the restaurant cuisine is excellent. The concierge treats you very well, speaks to you by name and can get you into the Moulin Rouge VIP. One of the best Hotels in the world.
A couple of years ago I stayed in Nice, and visited Monaco for a day - which is how I recommend everyone does it. Much more to see and do in Nice, it's cheaper and I think much more beautiful!
Thankyou once again time for a super review , I personally wouldnt ever want to go to this hotel, How dare security staff glare at you like they did. You were a Paying guest and its wanst nice that you felt uncomfortable. I think its very expensive and thus not worth that kind of money in my view. I also wouldnt feel comfortable staying here. But its amazing how through your camera i can experience such places without spending any money. it was a highlight to my sunday thankyou so much tin for sharing this with us
My best channel discovery in quite a while 👍. I have been to many great Hotels in my life of 61 years, and enjoy seeing familiar and new here. I stayed in Le Majestic, Cannes when I visited Monte Carlo. You have to enjoy those places from a normal persons view, thats what I like here very much. Greetings from Germany.
Sadly probably prostitutes as well; i say that as i worry for their safety. Wealthy clients can be as sadistic as anyone else, but with more wads of cash.
Great video Tim. Could you please do a Top 5 Places to Stay video? You've been all over the world so what would you say are your top 5 favorite destinations/hotels? This could be based on value for money, quality of the rooms, the hotel, the service etc.
I visited Monte Carlo a few years ago and found it fascinating - the way that people looked at you and calculated your net worth from your clothes/ watch etc was amusing to me as some one with zero net worth but not at all what I expected for somewhere that should be classy.
@@mcfrisko834 Not that it has any relevance, I am not rich, I didn't stay there as it was too expensive and most people who visit Monaco are white anyway.

I would love a series on the worst rated bed and breakfast places and worst rated holiday parks. I never see you do bed and breakfast or even some Boutique hotels.
Oh my goodness……I love your channel! The places you go and share are so amazing, but actually “YOU ARE THE STAR”! You are so funny, transparent and honest in your descriptions of each place you visit! KUDOS for a job well done!!!! PS…watching from Colorado 🩷
I think if you constantly dressed in a suit you could probably walk around the hotel without anyone stopping you but the security are clearly on the look out for "tourists".
I do aerial photography from helicopters. We have to fly with the passenger door removed to give us unobstructed views with no glass in front of the lens. When the chopper 'banks' on its side, it's pretty scary. You're only protected by a seatbelt.
The Oceanside view looked incredible and parts of the hotel looked really nice but I wouldn't pay a cent to stay in that place especially with how the staff treats you
I've never been inside that hotel but I have admired the outside from across the street while having a drink at the Cafe de Paris but it looks spectacular on the inside. The last time I was in the South of France I went to Cannes for the day and I was curious to see what the inside of the world famous Carlton Hotel was like, so I popped my head in the entrance and asked reception if I could come in just for a drink, and they were very friendly and said of course. The interior was as grand and breathtaking as I imagined it would be - I ordered a glass of fresh orange juice, and they charged me fifteen euros. For that price I thought the barman might pick the orange fresh from a tree inside the hotel lobby and hand squeeze it in front of me, but sadly not. €15 for a glass of orange juice though, I've never quite got over that.
I found this channel like 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching since, I’m not usually a fan of this type of content but I really enjoy your videos.

We stayed here when they first opened. You can’t beat that view! Downstairs you can use the table to make another bed. Love the video. Going back to Bournemouth soon, but staying in an Air B and B this time.
Brother Tim... That's exactly what I've been saying for ages when you got to 5 star hotels. It's a shame they weren't friendly, but it all on how you were dressed. When they see Hollister, they don't see class(don't get offended by that remark but I worked in fancy hotels and restaurants). Unfortunately those trainers, jeans and that type of clothing, I've been warning you about. They saw you and they didn't see big tip or big spender, despite the ridiculous price of the place. It's a shame people treat others like that.. but those places money and appearances are king in those countries 😢😢
It’s great that Tim walks in, being his great self, and he’s not treated well, and watched like he’s a cat burglar. This gives the majority of people the ability to see how they would be treated if they visited. Snobby place with horrible smelly bathroom, overpriced food, and beat up furniture….not worth all the money they charge.

Loving your videos, and how you often don’t seem, to recognise the simples household things, such as a metal wine bottle closure, when u find it next to the bottle and bottle opener and hotel Paris, yet NEVER struggle to find out how many people, fit into a shower 😉 Keep up the good work please!
I love your honesty in these videos. I would hate to feel like I was being watched & suspected. Maybe they should include nose pegs as a complimentary item.
I used to live in Beausoleil, just up the hill in France. The Monaco beach (la plage du Larvotto) is artificial. In the winter months, they truck in loads of gravel and rake it all smooth. It sort of sums up Monaco in many ways: all fur coat and no knickers.
Tim, for that kind of money they certainly should have the drains sorted out! But I think I know the problem, they're old, and when they were put in they were not meant for the capacity they are dealing with today
Was in the American Bar once, I was aware I was perhaps underdressed. Designer shorts, UK royal golf club polo shirt & flip flops (Italian). I asked if dress was OK, barman said manager would decide. He said no, but in the most polite way & said I could have a drink in the lobby, which I did. The table had the biggest flower arrangement I have ever seen.

My thoughts exactly
Exactly the steak and chips looked dry no trimmings and not cheap
Helped me to jump over this over priced unfriendly hotel. Thanks.
Totally agree, I will never travel to France no matter the circumstances, they absolutely despise European or Caucasian people period. Very racist country.
Beautiful hotel. poorService and bad manners from staff not acceptable 45 minutes for a 🥩🤷♂️ it’s a no from me
True class is accepting people for who they are
In Germany, my daughter and I went into a very expensive clothes shop. The lady, whose family owned the shop, was lovely
It was very clear that we were financially not her target market, but she was so friendly and relaxed with us, exactly how it should be - regardless of finances, we should treat each other with respect
Yes indeed, you said a mouthful right there and I (& many others, I’m sure) couldn’t agree more !!
Tim, when you encounter these rude "people," remember, only unhappy people treat others badly. We are All with you there, Tim.
Who cares! You pay the kind of money they charge ~ LEAVE IT AT THD DOOR. Mngmnt needs to comp him!
I have lived in Monaco for a many years , but I have lived and travelled all over the world. I have found that the French are the rudest people that I have ever dealt with, and customer service in France is virtually non existent
What I love about your videos is that they beautifully depict the feeling of tension that is inside these hotels. For 25 years I went into these places for business working for
a luxury car brand , the biggest issue I had was simply feeling out of place, I didn’t grow up with those layers of granduer so when you finally do get in there you realise not only do you have the wrong clothes but you feel like you’re even having to walk differently.
Brilliant description 😀❤

Don't you mean the world of the pretentious.

Any hotel worth its name should start by having the right attitude from their staff. It makes such a difference.

Ty for posting this fascinating video from the tragic wasteland of gulch. A deep profound sadness, imo, seemingly pervades silently through the streets and even harbors of the fallen state of France symbolized by Monaco.. All the gold and glitter of Monaco cannot hide the fact that France has fallen into a Marxist vortex and TS Eliot wasteland of the lowest order. Empty suits and skirts can toast each other over champagne and "cake" yet the cultural hollowness and loneliness is evident in the polluted air from Marxism. Marxist Molotov cocktail stench and polluted minds always leave a mark even if covered up in gold glitter and mascaraed as "enlightened French socialism."

@@aileenbyrne8941A good way to look at it 😁👍
Try going to CUBA! lol lol You will be followed. :P
Thank you very much!
There's so much more depth to Tim's videos compared to many of the one trick pony vloggers on TH-cam.
That walk-in wardrobe, and specially those coat hangers, were to die for! These things alone would make it worth staying there!
Wow, thank you!
@@abrupt_oliver I've stayed at the Ibis in Preston.
That 'adult' box is a clear indicator to me revealing the absolute debauchery that goes on, regarding the wealthy people, in that hotel.
Sadly probably prostitutes as well; i say that as i worry for their safety. Wealthy clients can be as sadistic as anyone else, but with more wads of cash.
Yup. Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut immediately popped into my mind as soon as I saw "Adult Box."😵
Oh, yes.
So sex in a hotel is "debauchery"? Ok, Mr. Puritan. Would it be better to do it in a barn then?
Imagine sex going on in a hotel!
Expensive doesn't always mean good
Summed up very well.
please never stop with these 5 star hotels
The most reliable material about Monte Carlo. You saved me a lot of money, thanks :)
I never got that vibe at all from my one visit there.
@@Romans8-9You probably didn't notice. My husband wouldn't.
@@Romans8-9 Well are you white and super rich?
@@mcfrisko834 Not that it has any relevance, I am not rich, I didn't stay there as it was too expensive and most people who visit Monaco are white anyway.
This is one of the most uplifting & humble comment sections in all of TH-cam. You've done a great job creating this channel. Easy sub, thank you for the upload!
I would love a series on the worst rated bed and breakfast places and worst rated holiday parks.
I never see you do bed and breakfast or even some Boutique hotels.
He's done Pontins which are worst rated holidays, some are now closed and some worse rated hotels.
Very enjoyable! If I were using so much money there, I would feel unappreciated. Which is why we appreciate you, Tim. Thank you!
I appreciate that!
Oh my goodness……I love your channel! The places you go and share are so amazing, but actually “YOU ARE THE STAR”! You are so funny, transparent and honest in your descriptions of each place you visit! KUDOS for a job well done!!!! PS…watching from Colorado 🩷
Paying THAT MUCH to be treated with indifference by the concierge, and like an interloper by security would *really* have me feeling hacked off… 😤
I didnt feel great lol
@@WalkWithMeTim You should have asked the concierge if the hotel had a concierge who actually did their job!
The first glass was a whiskey tumbler, second glass for wine, and third a brandy glass👌😁
And two Champagne flutes in the Hotel De Paree !
Lol!
I found this channel like 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching since, I’m not usually a fan of this type of content but I really enjoy your videos.
Same! Except I found him a couple of days ago. I love his calm demeanor. He has the same calm reaction for something positive as he does for something negative. It soothes my nerves for everything to be calm.
Agree with both of you. Found him a few days ago, and it’s so calming for me to watch.
Excellent honest review of a hotel I will never have an opportunity to visit but wanted to see. Thank you.
His attire was offensive and griping in a foreign language, particularly in English, would not sit well with the French. LOL!!

Go to five star hotels in Asia like Japan or Thailand, the staff are invariably polite and service minded. It’s just the South of France that’s rude.
Many hotels try and live up to their reputation. However, it takes money and excellent supervision to do that. From every department.
Have hotel standard dropped since Covid or are we blaming it for everything. One may not get properly trained staff or is now the bottom lone. What about trying the Hotel Adlon Berlin.
No truer words spoken .... & that’s a fact !
So thankful this surgeon did a complete job? Sad you had to go through so much, but you sound great and are doing well.! Sending positive thoughts your way! Thank you for the update! ♥️🍂🍁🤗
Hi Tim . We went for the day . Went in the casino. Up to the palace .church. grace Kelly tomb. Went on a Noddy train along the grand prix track . One side expensive the other ok . 1 euro for a Bootle of water up by the palace in Monaco . 4 euros for one near the casino monte carlo. X
Tim, please let me tell you why I'm thankful for you... Sometimes I feel a bit sad that I am not living the life of those you saw there but then I see it's not always as shiny as it appears and think... Nooo, I'm ok 😊
I agree the bedside tables leave something to be desired.
The chandelier looks like Murano glass!! Stunning hand-blown glass.
That thing at 6:47 - I’m going to go out on a limb & suggest that it’s a vacuum cork for the wine 🍷
Tim Tim Tim, every video still amazes me in a new way. From your tours of sandy Norfolk beaches like Hemsby way way way back in what feels a lifetime ago to this!!!, I'm so proud of who got picked by the love and support of avid TH-cam travel vlog lovers. I will always be proud to be a walk with me Tim enthusiast. Your most recent Dubai content also tickled my brothers fancy as I found he used my account to watch before I had the chance to (hate me for having YT premium). as always, love from me, my flatmate Issie, and girlfriend Eloise, and I am happy to let you know that after 3 literal years of you in my life, I, come payday in 2 days, and going to bite the bullet, and join the channel as a member, I couldn't imagine my weekends without sitting down and seeing your latest getaway with Issie and Eloise.
Thank you for bringing me joy and keeping consistent with surprising me. Also thanks for showing Amsterdams glorious little spots- I thought the crane hotel was a myth around the locals!!! Proved me wrong there.
When u say,the experience u get from people constantly checking if ure a guest.
Makes me feel undervalued as a guest.
The same kind of feeling when stores keep checking if ure stealing.
Gosh
oh I hate that when you go in a small store and they almost follow you
@@TulipB89yes totally agree he is a little Chavvy😂
It's a French thing, French people are very classist, they'll make u feel inferior to them if they feel like u are, and its a quality they instilled even in their colonies, I come from a French speaking country and they too have this quality
Well you should never assume, clothes do no maketh the man...I have Chinese friends, stalls on Covent Garden Market, they are seriously wadded££€€££, a mansion on Epsom Downs ..empty as they live in a 2 up 2 down terrace... the old dad dresses in a tee shirt and long shorts and sandals with his long grey plaited beard,he looks very poor and unkempt... so never judge a book by the cover ! Just saying😂
@@TulipB89 yes true..i would stick out like a sore 👍even though I do own a pair of raybans 😎🤣
I think I have been watching this fascinating channel almost from the start and it has come so far from the early days. I find the US trips particularly interesting.
Tim, you are a legend!
I love how you, totally unapologetically wear the same outfits, at butlins trailer park as you do, when staying at hotel Paris Monaco, it cracks me up every time, but kudos to you!
Loving your videos, and how you often don’t seem, to recognise the simples household things, such as a metal wine bottle closure, when u find it next to the bottle and bottle opener and hotel Paris, yet NEVER struggle to find out how many people, fit into a shower 😉
Keep up the good work please!
Define patronising.
I love your honesty in these videos. I would hate to feel like I was being watched & suspected. Maybe they should include nose pegs as a complimentary item.
Good one.
👌🏽😆
I used to live in Beausoleil, just up the hill in France. The Monaco beach (la plage du Larvotto) is artificial. In the winter months, they truck in loads of gravel and rake it all smooth. It sort of sums up Monaco in many ways: all fur coat and no knickers.
Agree!
Tim, for that kind of money they certainly should have the drains sorted out! But I think I know the problem, they're old, and when they were put in they were not meant for the capacity they are dealing with today
Thank you for your videos. My wife and I really enjoy watching them and going places through you tat would never see.
Great video as always Tim. Real shame about the lack of sympathy from the staff and especially the security been too much in some places.
its the first expensive hotel I've been in where the staff was not that nice
