I was floored when I learned that dailying a 1,200hp LS isn't terribly uncommon. If this pans out (pun totally intended) the only real reason to go with an LS over a 2JZ for swap would be cost and maybe packaging. On a side note they should be able to hit 2k, 2,200hp with this thing easy. 8,400RPM with a built straight 6 is a brisk jog not a flat out sprint. I doubt they were even at the redline.
Barra. Factory cast blocks and heads are good for 2000+ imagine what a bit more aftermarket support could achieve. Some doing 7s with a stock crank too, as seen on Fullboost channel.
Not hating but the RS1600 package from real street from 8 years ago was a 3.0 with an 86mm and it made 1851hp. Turn it up boys don’t be scuuuuurrrrrrrd!
That one back then had a promod turbo on it. We will put a bigger turbo on this engine in an upcoming video but we wanted to see what the new 8685 next gen turbo would do first. This is a pretty righteous combo. Now we can do weird stuff 😂
I thought the GTX5518r was just a standard 88mm. Would be really cool to over lay the two graphs to see how much area under the curve the 3.5 / 86 next gen is making compared to the 3.0 with the 88 promod. Bet it’s a huge difference…
So I can help explain the difference. Not all 1,800hps are created equally. Horsepower is simply a function of torque occurring at a given rpm. 1,000tq @ 5,000rpm is 952hp, however that same 1,000tq @ 7,900rpm is 1,504hp. More to the point, that last engine made its peak by stretching out to 9,000rpm. We were bandaiding the OEM crank’s shortcomings with a dry sump oiling system. This engine made over 100tq more than the last, made it earlier, and did it all with a factory oil pump, pickup, and pan.
Supra needs an AWD conversion kit to really utilize this power. Hope someone will make such a thing some day (have seen it done as one-offs, but never a reproduced kit)
The ratio at 8,300rpm on the 69.5psi pull was about 1.6:1 (111+psi). The reality is that the 85mm turbine wheel has never been asked to deal with this amount of exhaust flow. The wheel, platform, etc, are only so large so honestly it simply supporting this type of power is incredible. Historically, this sort of power took something inches larger in each direction on just the footprint aspect. Then the fact that the wheels are so small (it spools up so quickly) is just a game changer.
What fuel was used on this dyno session? What compression is the motor? What was the Crank Case pressure? Was there any vacuum being pulled on the crankcase?
One ethanol R fuel 10:1 compression pistons Peak crank case pressure at last pull was 101.4 kpa No vacuum was being pulled on engine. Hope this helps :)
