@@MiniDush I'll be honest, I haven't seen anyone complain about Zuko, Zhao, Iroh, or Ozai. The most complaints I've seen were from the main cast revolving around Aang and Katara mostly.

We get Zuko before the war council. Dallas did a good job at playing a younger version full of light and joy. I think Lt Jee is a substitute for the was the dude that Zuko almost had an agni kai with in the episode the storm. Remember him and the guy in the boat were about to fight before iron stopped it. We dont get Zuko dipping out after being chained up at the fire temple. And also we dont have Sokka and Katara here. Roku seems like a joyful grandpa here. He seems even more relaxed here. Roku was the first Avatar to overshadow Aang. He actually talks to him in the show way before Kyoshi
I love how zuko is being played he still gives whiny young but also an angry teen trying get his dad's approval. Every scene damn near the best or got me in my feelings
Bruh if zuko took that opportunity to actually hit his dad when he had an opening let’s be real! Knowing the fire nation they would’ve shamed Ozai and probably crowned zuko as fire lord at that moment since he got the upper hand as a kid!
One thing I have to say i’m really glad the live action did that the animated show never touched-Iroh and Ozai’s relationship. They didn’t interact even once in the show, and only had one scene together.
I always find the parallel between Zuko and Aang's origins so interesting. Zuko's starts with a selfless act of trying to protect his people, while Aang's starts with a selfish act of ignoring his struggles and not wanting to embrace his destiny.
"You're soul is mine!" "Shang Tsung vibes." Funny enough, I imagine a Dark Avatar Ozai having the ability to absorb souls as a way to contrast how Avatar Wan got his powers. The first soul he consumes is the lion turtle Aang met up with during the comet's presence. Instead of Ozai fusing with Vaatu, Ozai IS Vaatu. It's Vaatu who manipulates Sozin into waging the great war.
This guy plays zhao a lot more subtly not so angry and over the top. I think that they will do away with the jeong jeong episode because a key element of that episode was zhaos anger. We see a lot more of Zukos backstory. He put up a bigger fight here some dodges punches and could even maybe landed a clean hit on his dad where as in the series he just bowed and got burned. I feel like they blended his fight with zhao and his fathers.
The gang not being able to water bend makes sense in this case in the live action cause all the past avatars had to go to the other nations to learn from the masters. Katara was just a kid who could barely water bend in the first place lol. So with that in mind I think it makes sense that he hasn't done any water bending except for the ice ball he got trapped in but that was in the avatar state so doesn't count lol.
Blue spirit baby!!! Roku never interacted with Koh that was only kuruk atleast in the og show. Roku also sound a lot more joyful here. We don’t get the mother of faces until the comics. June comes to the fire sage temple here in the show she found aang and company at the perfume spot. June is flirting a lot more with iroh here. In the show he was flirting with her and it wasn’t reciprocated.
This was the BEST episode of the season hands down. It was done so well, all the acting and writing was on point for me. Zuko and Iroh stood above the rest in this LA but I loved the Aang/Zuko stuff we got this episode as well. The two actors had more chemistry in this one episode than the trio did in the whole series, but honestly after watching cast interviews Dallas (Zuko) and Gordon (Aang) do give off a big brother/little brother vibe so it makes sense. The 41st division twist was genuinely so good. If they keep this same energy for Books 2 and 3, then this adaptation will be solid in my opinion.
@@claudegrenier3180 nah it was hei bei cause hes the guardian of the forest. He would just send them to the spirt world and make them walk thru the mist forever, but koh would pick them up from there and eat them later or whatever it does.

Easily the best episode of the season. I love the change of having Zuko actually be forced to fight back because Ozai was attacking him, but due to his natural compassion hesitate to actually injure his father. It fits with the added scene of him being the only one to show real compassion to Iroh and comfort him at the funeral. And shows that deep down he is similar to Aang in that even when he has power over another his natural instinct is to avoid conflict and hurting others. It’s different from the cartoon, but not necessarily worse. Just a new take on the character. The same way we’ve had multiple adaptations of Batman that each have their own unique spin on the character.
This episode was actually the perfect way to deliver Zuko's backstory in this timeframe. At this point in the Animated Series his past and inner struggles are still somewhat of a mystery but here we really get to see his true nature early on. I actually prefer this to how they did it in the Animation because of how much more emotional and complete it felt. You can really tell that the writers were touched by the Aang Zuko interactions and wanted to show more of it. I even think they did Zhao better. Zuko's crew being the Division he saved was also a good touch and it even emphasised the weight of Zuko's banishment while letting people who haven't seen the animation get a gist of Zuko's tragic backstory and true nature. These writers are so efficient, though I guess they have an amazing dynamic and story to work with in the first place. That line about "sometimes, the mask is who you really are" was so dope. Iroh is the GOAT.
You know it takes a-lot of discipline for Zuko to not use fire bending also in the animated adaption if he was non bender i think he would have been a beast as chi blocker and swordsman.
This is arguably the best episode of the season because this is the only one that was written by the original animated show creators before they departed the live action project
its a shame they didnt show roku taking over aang's body.. i think it was far more important than kiyoshi possessing him and no mention of sozin's commet from roku either
