Chris in land of the giants ! Come on every body isn’t Chris one of the nicest people out there! Lots of knowledge and enthusiasm too! Go Chris always watching!
That pop-up camper is about the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long long time. I love it! And I always so enjoy your music choices. They always seem to be just right. Interesting history there…looking forward to more!🧡 Thanks so much🙏
Every one just loves you Mr Chris. Your a blessing to my life. I dont sleep well thru the night and find my self just binging on your shows in the middle of the night. Makes me happy. Thank you from Beckwourth Ca. next to Portola. God bless your day. Its almost midnight and here I sit.😂❤😊@basecampchris
The Travelling Historian does it again. Just looking at those rock formations shows how harsh the area was. The camper puts a new twist to luxury camping Chris. Just gotta love it mate. Thanks for sharing your new style adventures with us. Bushyboy Oz.
I remember you buying this camper and was wondering when you'd go camping with it. Seeing you cook the eggs made me remember the time you forgot to bring the eggs. Typical Chris just laughed it off. You could mix it up by using the camper as a base then doing a overnight hike. Don't give up on back packing. Please
I was wondering when you would use the pop up. Another great video, camping, cooking, story telling and great photography. I'm a huge fan of your history lessons and folk tales and of course the cooking. The camping is the icing on the cake. I think I was in Nebraska when I saw wagon wheel ruts from the 1800's, they had packed the ground down so hard nothing would grow in them. Always looking forward to the next one, stay safe and cheers!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I really appreciate in your videos, the history of the area you are camping in. I look forward to that as much as the hiking and camping portions. I really enjoy your channel!!!
Your channel is so cool. I love the scenery you visit. I wish I was so lucky. Maybe one day I'll get to be so lucky. Keep them coming my friend. Allows me to dream.
Chris, youve made miss two things; our many many pop up camper trips with the family, and driving through the desert...another great video....i love how you cover details...just makes your vids that more interesting...thanks Chris!
Chris, if you want you can use your lanter as a night light and enough heat to keep the chill off. Use your cleaner wire turn the wire almost straight up, the light will dim and you will get enough heat to keep the dew from building up inside. I HAVE DONE IT FOR YEARS.
Chris I just live it when you travel and show all the land and landmarks and tell the history..so interesting. I love history of the USA.. Great job Chris😊 thank you!
Cracks me up the pop up camper we also had one when I was a kid . I think we’re close in age I was born in 1959 and pop ups were popular . And the sound of a Coleman lamp was the sound of camper to me . Great memories 😊great story love history
I had a Popup camper at one time, much like yours. Mine had a sink, built in stove and frig but, I had young children at the time and needed these things. We sure enjoyed it.
Great to see the pop up out, always wanted to get one of those or a small regular camper, nice video Chris !! I grew up with the old Coleman lanterns as well !! Beautiful Rock formations
I liked this one. As a child, probably 15 years old (I am also from August 1962) I read a book by Gwen Bristow called the Jubilee trail. It is a story of a young woman making a trip like this. I found it amazing. Still treasure the book with paintings from a Dutch artist Anton Pieck.
Chris, Fun Taco Tip....Next time you make Tacos: Heat up one extra taco shell and lay it on the bottom of your plate. Then as you eat your other three Tacos, all that falls out goes onto the fourth Taco shell and you get a fourth Taco or a Tostada! Fun Tip, I hope you like it. Cathleen
I have a high-clearance four-wheeling pop-up camper I like to camp in. I have trailed it behind my Jeep over some pretty gnarly trails into high and low backcountry. Pop-up campers are perfect for dispersed camping.
Hi Chris, it’s Brows Man from NorCal. My friend gave me that name because I have Irish eyebrows that I have to trim with a weedwhacker. Enjoy your history lessons, you have the soul of a history teacher. Also like your choice of music, kind of blugrassy, fits in with your content. Please do some camping vids from Great Basin National Park if you’ve a mind to. Slainte!
I grew up in Minnesota myself and not far from the giant fish or from Paul Bunyan and babe. What a small world.❤😉😊👍. I also lived out west in Moscow Idaho near Coeur d'Alene Washington, Texas, Florida and east to Maine. As well as many other different states around the United States. I'm sure we could have many good conversations. I enjoy watching you very much, thank you.
I love Wild Mustangs! Too bad that you didn't get to video them! This lake is so pretty, reminds me of Ocean Shores in Washington! The waves are relaxing and soothing for sure, I would have camped near the lake just so I could hear the waves! Thanks for sharing this video, just incredible!
You should take some refried beans with you. You could’ve put some beans in your tortilla with the bacon, potatoes and eggs, cheese/salsa on top, breakfast tacos! It’s a thing! Leftover tacos can be wrapped in foil and put them in your windshield to keep warm and it’s lunch tacos!!
I've got both the dual fuel lantern and dual fuel stove, great bits of kit! My stove was manufactured in 1991 and I bought it 3 years ago and haven't replaced anything. If you do use either the lantern or stove with petrol regularly as I do, I would recommend putting through a fill of shellite every couple of refills, it burns cleaner and help to prevent clogging from the impurities in the petrol.
Seeing your Pop-up camper brought back memories. My husband had an old Coleman Pop-up camper that he and his daughter used to go camping in. He and his Ex wife co-shared use of it during 3 of the 4 seasons. We lived in Minnesota at the time and enjoyed the North Shore and Boundary Waters. Beautiful county there.
I just bought a 1999 Starcraft pop up camper which is identical to yours. It is in excellent condition. I am so excited to get out there with it. Please do more videos with your pop up.
Hi Chris great video loved the history lesson I never heard of pyramid lake so glad you made this video I love the pop up camping thank you for letting me ride with you on this trip .😊
I love Pyramid Lake. The lake's water will cool you down during the warm summers. I prefer the high desert ambience of this majestic lake to that of the high alpine of Lake Tahoe. Plus, I've never liked the frigid water of Lake Tahoe. I will always be thankful that I got to experience the beauty of Lake Pyramid. Summer season is the best. ☀️🏜️
Remind me back in back in day camping with that type camper!! Love your stories, history and scenery and all you share!!! Wow makes me want to get back on the road !! Been solitary for so long but life is such a blessing 💖💖🥰
Oh a pop-up camper...those can be fun! Way back in the day the folks took us on a trip from the East side over to the West side through all the Provinces of Canada using a pop-up. It was so much fun! The camper looks to be in great condition & you got a deal at that price too!
I love that pop up camper you have! It's small and inexpensive. If I was to ever have one, it would be something that like. It's small and unobtrusive. Great video!
I have a wonderful Girl Friend that is happy to stay at her house while I camp and do my thing! She loves the outdoors and nature but would rather not camp...
Thanks for your wonderful videos, Chris. Appreciate all the work that goes into each one. My wife wants to know what your wife does on the weekends when you go out on your solo camping trips?
Oh man! I would LOVE to have a pop-up- or just a huge RV... we used to camp ALL THE TIME but then my health gave out so I'm not able to 'rough it' anymore😣 I miss it so much.
Bison is my favorite meat! I love Bison tacos and Bison chili! Have you ever thought about adding Primal Kitchen Avocado Lime dressing to your tacos? I get it at Costco in the 2 pack. Chris, your camper looks efficient and a little more comfortable that a regular tent!
I've been considering getting a small camper or even preferably a small RV for awhile now. I think it would be fun to be able to just hit the road for a week or two and travel around staying at a new place every few days. After seeing your pop up and how efficient and just roomie enough that they are I really think I could be happy with even just one of those. I would imagine that I could take a pop up a lot more places than I would be able to fit a larger camper or RV.
Huge flashback seeing and hearing the fuel canister being pumped. Grew up camping in the 70s with all that gear 🤗 Agree, history of the California trail is brutal and fascinating.
Glad to see a video with your pop-up. I've been following for a while and was wondering when you were going to talk more about it. I am just about over sleeping on the ground so I'm taking notes. I enjoy your videos!

I actually watch reruns of your videos Chris. You have a gift of some kind that I can’t put my finger on.
