The Last stages of building a go cart with simple tools and giving it a blast. Considering this is just bolted together i'm pretty impressed, i'd change the sprocket sizes so has more top end as i've used these engines in things before and are good for 60mph.
All the parts were bought from www.pitbikepart...
This is not a sponsored video just thought its easier if everything comes from one place, they know what i've had so if you undertake this project and need any of the parts just call them and they will sort you out.
A picture Gallery will be uploaded to my website www.colinfurze.com

colinfurze nice job
.
colinfurze how do you think on average this took
colinfurze this is pretty neat
Thanks for this quality video!
Single seat in the middle, mid engine... hmmm
It’s a McLaren!
Junior McLaren
more like an MR2 because japanese fuel tank
it's the new C9
Lmfao new c9. I about died
Lol it funny
You know a series is good when part two has the exact same amount of views as part one.
just the bolts would exceed my budget
Use plenty of duct tape and zip ties 😂🤣
Mate... I've started buying the parts and I'm like.. Ohh so this isn't a cheap project
i got plently of bolt but i dont have any steel tubing :S
Ditto I’m in the us and the shipping on the website is more than the actual engine
Edit:hey thanks for the advice I’m actually building a golfer and that really helped
@@tommybaugher9484 go to harbor frieght. They have 212cc motors for 99 bucks and if you buy it in the store you dont have shipping :)
Colin I think I speak for everyone here when I say you're a great inventor. But with the recent relaunch of Robot Wars and the new US series Battlebots I believe that you sir should compete in the 2017 season! Like if you agree!
TheSkarus, The fire breathing, jet powered Furzosaurus for the win. 😂
he would probably wreck the other competitors with degrees in robotics :p
+martin mystere Who need degree when you habe pulse jet engine? :P
hell yes
He should have a jet-powered robot called Afterburner.
I just thought not only did the ply wood add rigidity but it probably stopped a lot of stones flicking up and hitting your bonce
And accidentally running over your ownegs haha
Legs*
@@darkopontin871 You could have just edited the comment.
you mean booty :D
only downside is he lost the foot brake where you take your right foot and stick it on the pavement adds an extra amount of stopping force and makes your shoes look like the tires on the car... completely smooth
Now for your next challenge build a go cart with only things you can find in an auto scrap yard, including the motor, seat, bolts, etc
Smajo Lelak that would be so awesome
Remember Junkyard Wars/Scrapheap Challenge? That was my childhood, here in the States.
Smajo Lelak The funny thing is, that is what most of his old projects were made of.
Assuming that the scrapyard took motorbikes, it wouldn't really be that much harder that this. Pretty much all of those materials apart from the wheels would have been available.
Joshua Rosen car engine would be fine XD
I love watching these videos you care and love you put into making this as accessible as possible always makes me so happy. It’s just a really, really, nice thing of you to take the time to make a project that will inspire people to get out and make something!
This is the most well built home made go kart I've ever seen lol
Also, the 50 fps is making the video buffer :/
U get the option to watch it in 30fps, but i'd just recommend better internet in general xD 50/60fps it pleasing to the eyes.
The 50 fps makes it look nicer, and if its buffering for you, your internet isnt fast enough
Don't think you've seen many of them then. I've built a better one when I was 14. Welded though, so it was a bit more solid. People make go cards that look like they come out of a factory, this was just a fun project. It's funny seeing people so impressed by his work not realizing that he's just having fun and most of what he builds is just quickly thrown together.
I'm sure yours was faster, but I doubt your 14 year old self could weld something together as legit as this.
Ah i really liked this in tutorial form - I'd love to see more builds like this - w/ or w/o welder, but just with every detail kind of explained like this. Very cool, thanks!!
So its seems 50fps gets the thumbs up and the first song thumbs down
hahaha the first song was terrible xD
Great video! Keep it up :)
MrBalobba yes the video was great
How do you pick apples from the top of apple trees? :/
Just curious, why is the video at 50fps? Nothing wrong with it of course just wondering.
i wonder how many people watched the video all exited than looked for the parts online and left the chat
im making one i bought the wheels for 35 the axle for 25 and its out of wood I'm check my channal
Thats how you make go kart 😒
i did
@@justbuilds8248 pls send parts u bought
I think this is a great build, I'm not sure if he mentioned it but if you are going do this get some lock washers or some sort of thread lock so you aren't constantly chasing loose bolts.
This is the best home made go cart I've ever seen
Leo Connor this is the only homemade go kart I’ve ever seen

literally
i worked for a company that made aero space devices,, they could learn a lot from you colin brilliant
I'd like ta say that you really have a talent in this sphere and continue your activity
it's beautiful, it inspire others to build their own with less skills & the most important thing is having fun building & riding it🚜
Could you make the music i little bit quieter and your voice a little louder in the edit?
Emoticons It would make watching with headphones a bit easier^^
Manu El I don't even listen with headphones
Every single video this gets asked. I watch them with my mouse on the slider for the duration.
Try this guys. lifehacker.com/5986236/normalize-the-sound-volume-on-your-pc-with-windows-loudness-equalization-setting
Agreed. It made it almost unwatchable.
Pure genius!!!!!!! I love every single thing about this video. I have a couple of motor and even more grandkids. I am going to use this video for both 😎
Formula 1 cars stopped using the Plywood for the underside grinding plate, now its a Titanium sheet, they use it because titanium work hardens and gets harder to grind down on the tarmac the more it gets hit, and... y'know.... plywood catches fire
na i think there is still a plank, just titanium screws
colinfurze lol. I see what you did
Yeah definitely still got a wooden skid plate, it's used for post race checks to make sure they're not running the cars lower than the FIA rules allow
Yeah and the seat is made of gold

Your Son is going to grow up with one of the best DADS on the PLANET! YOUR AN INSPIRATION TO DADS EVERYWHERE ! Thanks !😀🏁
Colin you rock! thanks again. I'm making this for a winter project!!!!!!!
Justin Kraus You should upload the progress
I want to build it, but I do not find all parts on the internet site
He mentioned to phone the website to see what parts he used and where you could also find them, I recommend amazon or ebay. Or any good DIY shop, for instance B&Q.
Hell yeah, I was just makin plans for this with my tax return.
I have recently built one! Because of you! I didn't have the right tools and wnat can I say? You helped me!
Oh man this is epic!!!
The camera view when he’s driving is so satisfying
Please make a zombie apocalypse survival vehicle !!!
Cheeky Memes this is a good idea should do it
Yes! It will go rather nicely with the bunker and armoury. He has weaponised a tuk-tuk but that won't be great post-apocalypse.
+Shenanigan Studios it would be great if he changed it to a real gun dude.
Not Doge and put some doors on it
and a plough! Maybe snow plough
Stuff like this restores my faith in humanity. well done sir
These simple project videos appear to be turning to something of a series, why not give it a name? Perhaps: Simple Project Simple Tools Series.
Yo Colin! how about a DIY Electric skateboard similar to the Boosted Board?? that would be too sick.
Brilliant idea!
YungRaw too easy
How
JoshPod they're already kits available and so many people have done it on youtube, if he makes it he better attach a turbo engine or something
Yes but Colin is making it so I'm sure it will be 'interesting' enough and he could make it stupidly fast.
Viewer: "But Colin, where does the differential, or the suspension go?"
Colin: *laughs*
go karts have neither
A proper race karts 'differential' is corner jacking
Spook it’s a joke. Over the head it went
I don't know what to say! I have a 90 PY Jetro bike but I didn't know I can make a Go Kart for myself. I was just driving my bike & enjoying it but since you showed that video, I'm interested in making that thing. Thanks for the video.
And if you're at all concerned about the structural integrity of your face, make sure to use locknuts or some kind of thread lock on all the bolts as they may otherwise shake lose over time resulting in injury or death.
You should always wear your safety tie!
PJ he used an electric drill and probably torque wrench to do them up. it will take way more than a bit of shaking to make them fall out. plus he probably put some nut lock gel onto them anyway
Sadly the the safety tie seems to have given way to his own T-shirts. I understand the need to promote the T-shirts but doing all these dangerous things without his tie puts him at serious risk of an accident and none of us wants that.
Nuts shake loose surprisingly easily and the complete absence of any suspension or engine mounting bushes on a go kart like this makes them vibrate like mad.
PJ lock nuts are garbage and don't work well. There for People that think wd40 is a good lubricant.
At first I was like oh wow this might be doable but then I lost all hope
This man's a legend
1) have no words for your intelligence and clarity
2) I wonder who in the right mind would dislike the video. Makes no sense
3) would appreciate to know
a) are you changing gears without
a clutch
b) also want to understand why you did not simply weld the tie rod at an angle on the wheel /Tyre instead of painstakingly bending the square tube
Thanks
The video says in the title NO WELDER .
And not all engines need a clutch to be manually operated , on most low cc engines you just get off the throttle , change gear and then open the throttle again .
I'm in high school, me and my friend are gonna build 2 go karts, this is giving me a ton of motovation to do so
Did you succed?
I love your inventions. I still cant believe they functionally work lol
I made this. Works great! I used a bigger engine from a motorbike.
Proof or it never happened. Awesome tho if you did
what are the mesurments for the frame
Adam Znamierowski it depends on how tall you are and how much leg room you need/want.
jason lul i don’t know i didn’t count up ever penny but somewhere around 500 bucks
Sure you did! And you have the video to prove it, right?
Sir, you are a mechanical and entertainment genius.
O yeah yeah o yeah yeah yeah
Hey Collin
I love your ideas and i would really enjoy it to do some cool stuff like you but i live in Germany and i am 15 years old and i havent got so nice equipe. I am also a crazy guy who has got alot ideas but i cant do anything with them. I am really yealous on you so do your thing, its so amazing!!

I forgot to ask what you do with the cool items you build. If I had the money I would love to try and purchase this go-cart or something able to be sat in for a little fun, something I don't get to do anymore. You are very, very talented Colin. Thanks, Lou Grossi
do you have the measurements, and a video on how to actually build this. i love this channel and am looking forward tho the next video
build an electric gokart and race it against the petrol kart. compare the two for power, price ,ease of building and robustness.
Idjles Erle fair play that's a sick idea
Now that I think about it, Colin looks like a younger Chef Ramsay.
Great little tutorial this!
Currently building a soapbox car and the steering system is a great reference!
That windshield wiper container is from a Datsun/Nissan Z car
for the amount of bolts and nuts purchased, you could honestly buy a stick welder and a few packs of sticks to weld this with.
Adam M not everyone has a welder at home, so he's just giving an example of how its done
not everyone can weld @@jasonkuy7100
@Jason Kuy, he’s saying that with the cost of all the nuts and bolts, it might be cheaper or just as much to buy a stick welder and some sticks, then you could also use it for another project--- @ steve jones, we are on TH-cam aren’t we
if you buy one of those instant darkening masks welding is ten time easier, welding 4mm steel with an arc welder is quite easy tbh
Not a chance
Imagine living next door to Colin.
one of the best go kart maker
hey can I know how to make it like what's the size of everything
You should build a tank that shoots fireworks.
Nick Frampton It's not like a tank is 20-30k+ (WITHOUT the firing mechanism)
you can get a decent tank for about 10k, dont make up random figures.
Tom you are a very shallow minded person, who says the tank has to be full size? he could build a tank just a little bit bigger than this gokart.
Pozdrav Kuja I didn't lol. Personally asked an expert at an event like a year ago and he said 20-30k for a Chieftain mark 11 WITHOUT the firing mechanism
ALL MIGHT And you are a very deep minded person, too deep. I was commenting a simple statement to a simple comment. Not overthinking it like you just have.
U did a doughnut with something u build in ur basement 💪😎😏🤳respect amazing speechless
He made it in his shed
It's a underground bunker not a basement
Cause he is English
@@creativethinks3935 He even build this shed
Colin JT here first time viewing your Channel and I must say I am quite impressed with what you've built without using a welder I'll be subscribing you have a great day and a better night take care buddy
please put a 125 2 stroke in this
Aj Ahner and 85 would be almost too much
Yea. But a 125 would be way too much. Imagine this crazy guy on a crazy kart
Aj Ahner exactly what i thought, with a lighter ally frame, would be awesome
Yea
It must be a 500 2 stroke
So Colin here's a challenge. Convert it to all electric now.... LOL
That's a great idea=)
To keep it safe you would have to reduce power to 10HP max and 48V (to comply with the low voltage directive). That would still mean for a 10 minute run time you would need about a 2kWh battery to account for losses. Second hand you can get one for about double the price of this entire project (assuming lithium). The motor would then cost you about the same as this entire project and the electronics to control it would cost the same again. You could go cheaper and use lead acid but you would need 8 off 100AH batteries at about 30kg each. That's 240kg of batteries! It still would not be much cheaper as those are about £125 each. So still £1000 for batteries.
Or, better/worse: a hybrid! For the more tinkering engineers, a nice project to work on drivetrain efficiency. I just told a friend with a hybrid supercar project to do a kart like this as a first step. Why wouldn't you?
test first how much racing you get done on 1 liter of fuel. then add electric bits, and see how fast (and fast) it'll go then. Especially rain (or dirt) racing will be interesting, when yo add electric FWD.
Cloxxki as mentioned above the reason you would not bother is cost. It would triple the cost of the build at least. A second hand 10KVA generator is about £1200 alone. That is more than the entire current build cost. Then you would need 4x 2.5HP (about 2KW) electric motors of a type suitable for driving the wheels. That would be about £800 if you were lucky, again more than the current build cost. Then you would need the electrical power train which would cost at least £500 as it is not a common type to use. So would you really want to spend in excess of £2500 for something that would cost you about £700 elsewise? Also remember it would vastly increase weight, reducing performance. So in effect you would have something between 3 and 4 times more expensive with probably 2/3 of the performance.
Oh, I'd not disconnect the ICE from the wheels, that's crazy inefficient.
In the supercar realm, hybrids are considered a performance booster. In the case of some that may be true, but indeed, overcoming its own added weight is quite a challenge.
Please build a drifting go-cart or off-road go-cart!!!
with handbrake for awesome skids :)
Andras Kovacs offroad!
actually the breaks are like ebreaks already since they are purely stopping the rear wheel only :)
Me and my cousin built a no weld go-cart back in 1975 from an old lawnmower. Lots of drillin and bolts but it wasn’t nearly as nice as this. We also put a 3 1/2 hp Briggs on a bicycle but that’s another story. Wish this guy wuz around back then, I’d a probably had his poster on my wall, lol.
Imagine Colin having a enginuity battle with Chris, from “rather b welding”
Colin: "They are all colour coded so you can't get it wrong"
Colour Blind Person: "Fuck..."
funniest comment ive seen
Why not mount the ignition and kill switches near you?
Chrisfix would go crazy at all the opportunities to use thread locker
Very cool, but man I would use a bunch of lockwashers and whole container of loctite on that thing. Seems like as is it'll be rattling apart every hour.
DONT DOUBT THE FURZ

I think he built it first with normal nuts as they are handy to take off
I think he took it apart again to paint then rebuilt it with locknuts

No now is time for the welder.
I mean, I HAVE a welder.
I just don't know how to use it so this is a pretty good alternative haha
Do you have some schematics on the length of your base. This would be a great project for my son and I.
Mr. Furze,
I Love your channel and everything that you do. You promote learning beyond the class room, beyond wealth, beyond age, and it's defiantly some thing that this world needs more of. We don't need video games, we don't need politics, what we need is growth in and of our self's and that's what you're promoting/creating. Growth in one's self. Thank you.

What do you need to know in order to build stuff like this? Is it all motorized education, like you have to know everything about cars, electronics, I want to know what education to take so that I can learn in college, then I too, can be an expert on this type of thing.
If you want to be a mechanic , go into automotive in college. But doing this as a hobby and such is just learning from the internet, and actually building the stuff yourself.
Automotive would be optimal, or electric enginering can work too.
just buy some basic tools and then you gotta figure it out. simple problems, simple solutions, engineer a fix with what you have.
As the rest typed.. utilize TH-cam and other medias, ask around, doesn't hurt to ask other channels info upon why something or how it functions, obtain some tools (don't steal them), and take things apart and put them back together, learn what each part does, and why it's there and what function does it serve.. in no time you'll learn what you can use that object in a project, or tinker with other ideas. You don't need a degree in robotics, engineering, or being a mechanic to learn basic stuff. A lot of us shade tree mechanics learned by trial and error, and it's actually not a bad way to learn, even if you're taught exactly how to do it right, do it wrong and see what happens so you have a visual in your mind of what could happen, and how you will go about fixing it, before you tear it down.
Men are never to old for a good ol gokart ride.

why you didn't mount it under the frame?
Никита Найденов if the bolts came undone you'd be screwed.
double bolts
and have 80mm lower mass center :)
if you make it yourself, do just that. The plans are fairly simple and open for modifications :o
If the bolts came undone you would loose your nuts!
