To make it easyer to go up and down an electronic steering thingi which controls how much it goes forward back or whatever direction maybe should be added
You need to get James Bruton to sort you out a control unit, so it syncs all the hydraulics to get you up and down easier. Of course it needs a disable switch so you can Furze it :)
yeah, just a little arduino that records the perfect sequence to go from the lowest to the up position, if you attach it under the seat you can use the "level sensor" to control the seat, so no matter where you are it lets te seat stay flat. it's something that james could program in like 1 hour.
What a refreshing change of pace in the way these clips are made. The music is awesome and the random things you do. Best channel I've found on TH-cam in so long. You're a bloody dag
"Its not the safest thing ive ever made" - man who made a jet bike, and an insanely fast go-kart then drove both to the limit without any sort of safety equipment.
"not the safest thing I've ever made". It probably is actually. Idea: you could probably knock up a fairly simple Arduino arrangement to synchronise the worm drive motor with the lift so that the seat stays level automatically. You just need an angle sensor on the seat arm, like an optical encoder. If Arduino programming isn't your thing, put a shout out on the 'net - someone will offer ;-)
yep looks like a job for james bruton, doesnt even have to be optical, even a mechanical variable resister should work (a little bit more noise obviously)
It doesn't even have to be that complex. A simple setup of tilt switches on the seat to control the hydraulic motor would probably work. Too far out of level and the motor switches on one direction - too far the other way and the motor switches on the other direction.
If you had a level sensor in you wouldn't need to sync the two it could just keep level all the time regardless, even if you're going up hill or something :D
An engineer probably would not go anywhere near Colins projects because of health and safety reasons and not wanting to kill people just like this one :-D

In fact, its far beyond that because not only is he demonstrating beautiful feats of creativity and engineering hes doing it in a puny time frame with little to no formal engineering training AND on top of that he edits and posts all of his videos on a WEEKLY basis, again, with no sort of formal training. So i would definitely say he is worthy of the title "hardworking."
Maybe put extending arms since he has hydraulics already in place May be control them arms that extend front back right and left using hydraulics or install another pump in the basket and make it look nicer
If you add an arduino, and reduce the flow rate of the pump you could synchronize all 3 actuators and have the chair elevate perfectly level while keeping the center of gravity centered in between the axles. You could even go a step further and add pressure sensors to each weel to see in which direction the center of gravity is moving to keep it stable, or you know, calibrate the program over 4 scales.... Amazing development though!!!!
@@scottwhitley3392 Absolutely true. To be fair, that doesn't make them less of an engineer, just a different type. Stick an Arduino with a Gyroscope / Accelerometer on the seat, program it as a PID controller which steers the seat motor and seat levelling problem solved!
Gyro is enough, accelerometers are a pain to program rwliably and are not really made for this purpose. Also: gyroscopes use quite complicated coding and calculations, like a quaternion. Not really a thing for a non coder (even a task for a computer engineer). I havent tried it with arduino though, only 32 bit cortex m0+
yeah, it heavily depends on which chip you use, though. Some have sensor data fusion from gyro and accelerometer built in and deliver quaternion data via i2c, if you can get the library to work, that is.
Tom Lelie Gyroscopes do in fact make the matter much more complicated as all they can measure is angular acceleration and not absolute angle. But in Furze's case it would absolutely suffice to use just accelerometer data of the rotated axis. The acceleration will vary between -1g and +1g, depending on the accelerometer's angle relative to Earth's center of gravity. As this acceleration value is directly proportional to the angle, it should just be a matter of reading out the acceleration value of one axis and dividing it by a given constant. Of course, you can do extra filtering and smoothing of the result. But as can be seen for example in GreatScott's spirit level video, the deviations between measurements are on a scale of ±0.1° when using a sensor such as the MPU-9250. This would be an absolutely acceptable value which could be fed into a PID library and thus determined in which direction and how much the seat motor should move. Using a PID, it would be possible to adjust each parameter so the motor moves as smoothly as possible. (But of course, never forget to include a manual override switch, in case something goes wrong.)

Suggestion 1: Figure out the smoothest combination of moves to get you up and down, then etch/program those (sorry I'm not that familiar with electronics) into a small circuit controlled by one big lever to go up or down. Then you don't have to mess around with 3 different controls and it'll look cooler/more smooth. Suggestion 2: Mod the wheelbase again so it can climb onto high pavements by driving straight into them (and maybe stairs). Suggestion 3: Don't do anything to it that makes it unusable in real life. I know a lot of your inventions fit into the "crazy toy" category and rightly so, but what I like about this one is I can actually see an old man going around a shop with it and casually using the lift to reach the shelves. It would be so cool to make this super functional and "shop friendly", give this to an older relative/friend/neighbour of yours and see them actually using it without dying or setting the shop on fire. Suggestion 4: For self defence, the most likely situation I guess is someone robbing the user and running away. So you should put a Bola cannon on the front. From wikipedia: "A bola is a type of throwing weapon made of weights on the ends of interconnected cords, used to capture animals by entangling their legs." That could be fun. Suggestion 5: Also put a teenager deterrent on it (one of those high pitched sound emitters) and possibly some sort of hydraulic leg sweeper to knock the legs out from under any yobs next to the scooter.
im on a midnight binge watch marathon, and i was watching these and got hooked, lol, but ive been doing stuff like this since i was 14, im 22 now, so im having fun with these design ideas
Old people often forget to drink enough water. The police also forces protester back with water. I think you can combine that to defend against inner and outer threats. Maybe you can build a 360° sprinkler system and also a tap that gives you some water to drink, too. The ultimate pensioner care weapon system!
Great job!!! To keep the seat parallel to the ground you can mount an articulated parallelogram, instead of the second motor.. In this eay you can easily control the height of the seat with only one motor and use the second motor for a fine tilt adjusting.. Far more easy!
*Who else wants Colin to increase the power on the big upwards piston, to make it into a trebuchet-chair?* (So it can launch a 90kg Colinfurze projectile over 300 meters ;P )
Their center of mass is lower though, and hence more stable. Longer axles or rear stabilizers would help here. The center of mass is moving backwards when the arm extends/contracts.
Is it just me or is Colin greatly suited to help Wintergarten with the marble machine X project. He always needs help making the bits and I feel like it would make a great collaboration.

Oh yes! This would be *perfect* for that. You just raise the hydraulic seat and you can see above everyone elses head.
SUBLIS GAMING Just don't take it to a metal concert. They'll find out how unstable it is and push it over.
Your Techniques Are Awesome! Out-freaking-standing!
This could possibly be the best channel on youtube
Definitely has the best music of any channel on TH-cam.
Possibly?
Go on robot wars 😃
Or make the whole thing a big tazzer🤣
Put a mountable minigun on the bac
You spelled "jobs" wrong on the last line
Edit. Nvm i read the rest of the sentance
im on a midnight binge watch marathon, and i was watching these and got hooked, lol, but ive been doing stuff like this since i was 14, im 22 now, so im having fun with these design ideas
Old people often forget to drink enough water. The police also forces protester back with water. I think you can combine that to defend against inner and outer threats. Maybe you can build a 360° sprinkler system and also a tap that gives you some water to drink, too. The ultimate pensioner care weapon system!
that's a genius idea right there!
Furze: "It's not the safest thing I ever made."
Me: "Is anything safe you make?"
@Ollie Neil hm
Hydraulic outriggers mate. ;-)
You've got a wee bonny lad tuh think bout right?
Daniel Nunya Bidnezz thank u
Great job!!!
To keep the seat parallel to the ground you can mount an articulated parallelogram, instead of the second motor.. In this eay you can easily control the height of the seat with only one motor and use the second motor for a fine tilt adjusting.. Far more easy!
Add a wheelie bar for safety reasons, to not flip over like seen in the video.
do you think anything is supposed to be safe here
He's wearing his saftey tie. So there is no need ;)
Should put some brace legs to stabilize the machine :P
Colin is like the a-team except he doesn’t use the stuff he builds to fight people, he uses it for fun
Colin is definitely the son of Murdoch if there ever was one.
And he loves it when a plan comes together.
*pulls out cigar* Fuck yeah!
It’s amazing how clean your work is
*Who else wants Colin to increase the power on the big upwards piston, to make it into a trebuchet-chair?*
(So it can launch a 90kg Colinfurze projectile over 300 meters ;P )
Yes.
This guy....
AWESOME!
colinfurze dude i love your music selection, it reminds me of the old tony hawk games. Your channel is awesome +1 subscriber
I'm a mobility engineer and I gota say Colin your a genius, you got crazy skills
You're
Put stabilizing legs that pop out
Attach a role cage bumper and light bar
Excited to be featured! You can watch more of our music and our newest music vid on our channel! 🐻🐻🐻
You're not an Engineer?! That's an understatement. With all the cool mods, and gadgets that you make you're way past that.
"I'm not an engineer, I just buy tools and try and use em" needs to be on a t-shirt
That would look much better with a racing chair
Maybe try making the axles longer to stabilise it laterally
And maybe a retractable wheelie bar if youre up for the extra style points
Crispy Memes I have seen people on these things that weigh more than this contraption and Colin combined.
Their center of mass is lower though, and hence more stable.
Longer axles or rear stabilizers would help here. The center of mass is moving backwards when the arm extends/contracts.
And streamers on the handlebars for aerodynamics and cool points with the ladies (or wife).
You've got cnc cutting, vertical drill, lathe and all kinds of things man I love it!❤️
No rockets or lazors? Still love it. Nice one Mr Furze.
Ian Lynch he said that it doesn't has a self defens mechanism. The lasers might come, just have patience
This a channel with fantastic music!👌
Bugs3500. Glad we could help!
Yes we come for the music 😶
*WoW ! My grandmother need's this*
Shes having issues reaching the top shelfs?
coolest you-tube channel.. on you-tube really! love your work bro
Is it just me or is Colin greatly suited to help Wintergarten with the marble machine X project. He always needs help making the bits and I feel like it would make a great collaboration.
meep706 do you really want a Marble Machine that hurls steel balls at supersonic speeds?
meep706 dderty
Hugh Brackett you sir, you made my day!
"I may make some stupid things...but I try to make 'em the best I can"-----That needs to be put on a T-shirt...
Someone: I bet you can't make a vehicle that can feed you, do your homework, swim, fly, drive in rough terrain, save the planet, fix air pollution, feed the pets and function as a normal car...
colinfurze: Challenge accepted
your reactions about your creations are too much for me hahaha nice man!!!
Best line ever... “I may make stupid things, but I make ‘em as best I can...” ... 😂👌🏻😂
”Im not a engineer i just buy tools and try to use them” 2 moths ago i just finished my big hulkbuster that can lift real humans!
Now take it to Walmart
Kaiden's adventure's he's english
Kaiden's adventure's tesco
You never know, he might get 3000 miles out of one battery charge. Might need a snorkel for some of the drive...
Kaiden's adventure's Asda
I really like how you dont just smash something but you make it look really good. and when you build something the content is not boring. keep up the good work.
