Also, I remember working the scorer's table at basketball games in high school, and that act of raising one's arm also really helped with the book-keeping.

    I've been refereeing basketball for over 16 years and I admit that there are good referees and they are not so good referees. We don't care who win or lose, but what we do care about is our ability to control the game and allowing the players to play. Keep in mind as much as we are trained to stay professional, we are human and we can get emotional because the game is so fast. We have to deal with attitudes from players, coaches, and fans. I use to tell parents to train to become referees if they felt they could do a better job than we could lol. A few did. Now they have a much broader respect for what we do 😂

    • @lovetosing1657
      @lovetosing1657 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree...I think Freddie generally has great respect for the majority of the refs.I agree with u that ref needs to control the game and the best way to do that is thru communication with the players so they understand what ur seeing. REFS and technical calls should not be the highlights of the games that fans pay BIG $$$ to see.Freddie knows how to play thru the calls and have chats with refs along the way.Thats what good floor generals do.These techs are overthe top.Ejecting Scottie Barnes for showing passion in a playoff like game was excessive for that moment and completely altered the closing of the game.if that was a playoff game it would have been horrific.

    Fred was premeditated? What about the ref? So what I’m getting from this is it’s always ok for a ref to target a player, do it multiple times- enough to where it causes issues but as soon as that player responds to defend himself and clarify how it’s an issue then there’s a repercussion and the league simply needs to “back its refs” regardless.
    Apt analysis there guys

      @suzie55 Our defense fell apart during some key stretches. I think even despite the BS officiating there were opportunities for us to put them away that we didn't capitalize on. But I see what you're saying, the free throw disparity was pretty significant here, that definitely played a part.

      No they didn't Raptors were the aggressor & were pkaying well to start the game then the refs start calling ticky tacky fouks in Q2 which led to 12 fts & Clips back in the game. Raps took 53 FGA in the paint but ended up getting 14FTA . Of the 14 5 came with 2 mins in the game to make it seems like the ifficiaying was fair. Clios had 31 FTA but only 38 FGA in the paint.
