i scored one of the L15 gen 4 amd 7730U 8gb with fingerprint reader and ir face unlock for 570 a few months ago, upgraded the ram and ssd and its a solid mobile workstation
Hi Scott! I recently bought a new L15 G4 r5 7535u with 16gb ram and 512ssd, enough for me, but it has no backlight on the keyboard 😢 I don't use this feature much, but... I see in the video that your notebook doesn't have much, don't you use it often? What do you think? What would you do? I should keep it, in my market for the price (700usd) I can't buy better options, and I recently sold my cpu to buy a notebook. Thanks and I appreciate your time. Cheers from Argentina.
Hi there! I would not worry about it especially if you haven’t used it before. I work a lot at night, and I found it helpful, but in daytime I usually just turn it off to preserve the battery. I am not a Lenovo tech, but on some of the Thinkpads by removing a couple of screws you can easily replace the keyboard in no time. There is always an option to buy just a backlit keyboard in the future and get it installed, so I would not sell this laptop just because of that!
Hi Scott! I study systems engineering and I can't decide between these two laptops, would you give me a hand? Thinkpad L15 gen3 - Ram: 8GB Expandable up to 64GB - SSD disk: 512gb - Screen: 15.6" FHD - Processor: Ryzen 7 5825U (8 cores, 16 threads) Thinkpad E15 gen4 - Ram: 8GB Expandable up to 40GB - SSD disk: 512gb - Screen: 15.6" FHD - Processor: Intel I7-1255U (10 cores, 12 threads)
I am so sorry. These are expensive laptops!!! Also, they are 2- or 3-years old technology they should be around $600 ish here in the US. I am looking at Lenovo.com and ThinkPad E14 Gen 6 with the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 125U cost only $781 ☹
It makes sense because with this particular L15 is a higher level model where we have better build materials, better construction, better design, better air flow, better cooling, but the CPU is significantly weaker and old. With this E15 We have somewhat less build quality , somewhat weaker materials, weaker cooling but nothing to worry about, it`s still a good machine. But on the other hand have a significantly faster CPU. Therefore, I would choose this E15 unless you can send me some other options to look at.
Hi whats the difference between the Dell inspiron vs the Dell Vostro? currently have a dell vostro 3500 11th gen i5 16GB Ram and a 1 TB ssd Nvme sammy 980 but it stays on the desk 95% of the time. have had latitude in the past and they have been grest
We have to get a specific model on the Inspiron because it`s starts at $279 and ends just under $1600. There are so many models from 14” to 16”, standard, plus, 2 in1, AMD, Intel, Snapdragon & Snapdragon X. The build quality can be very different between these. Latitude 5000/7000 is great ,but with the 3000 is really coming down, how you are actual going to use it.
There is no reason why the E15 could not get the same hot air side went similar what the L15 has. There is enough space, no need a 2.5" option anymore.

They are great machines!
I really appreciate that you not only compared the two different series of Lenovos to each other but with the Dell Latitude as well!
I love this side-by-side comparison, thanks for detailed breakdown! I saw you did the same thing on your latitude video, awesome!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for your thought. I`ve just tried to choose between this two models of Lenovo
Thank you & and welcome, I think the L is a better machine in overall, however it cost more. Have you decided?

Thinkpad L15 gen3
- Ram: 8GB Expandable up to 64GB
- SSD disk: 512gb
- Screen: 15.6" FHD
- Processor: Ryzen 7 5825U (8 cores, 16 threads)
Thinkpad E15 gen4
- Ram: 8GB Expandable up to 40GB
- SSD disk: 512gb
- Screen: 15.6" FHD

How much are these and what`s your budget?
In my country (Argentina), the ThinkPad L15 costs $1100 and the ThinkPad E15 costs $1150. My budget adapts to both.
It is curious that the l15 is cheaper than the e15, but that is how it is.

Yep, pretty much, however this came out 3 years ago, We would have to look at the new model to see what happened to the 2.5" option.
Thanks for good video explanation
