I don't know why but TH-cam suggested me a few of your videos, and you seem like a really nice guy! And your videos are very interesting and "direct", no fancy silly stuff that most "hardcore enthusiasts" do, way more practical!
its really cool that you do this, I was using an old Dell 9020 to learn about dedicated server hosting to host games for me and my friends. The cpu crapped out about 2 weeks abo so its been on hold while i get a new one from ebay. These sff computers are great and cheap ways to learn different types of networking programs and for me its became a hobby.
Oh, the 9000 series! These can last 10-12 years, no problem for sure. I wonder if we ever going to see those. 3000, 5000, 9000 are all gone, we only have 7000 standard and the 7000 standards plus in 23-24.
An observation about Ram memory, when I searched on ebay I found a lot of modules that looked the same and had good specifications, but it was not mentioned anywhere that they are made for servers. Be careful when buying so you don't get something wrong.
I have a puppy, he is about 10 weeks old, he just goes for your hands 😊 When I was editing a video and wanted to include the top angle shots , I realized how bad my hands are look like.... so in the future it will be more of these top view shots for sure.
I used the vacuum cleaner on the PSU fan, the PC wouldn't start after that. I had to remove the Cmos battery for a few minutes and everything was ok after that.
I use an M.2 Dual WiFi+bluetooth card in mine that i salvaged from a laptop with the same laptops antenna routed around to the front and fed out a hole labeled "ant-cable" and it works great. Then bought 2 8gb Corsair LPX vengeance RAM , 1 2tb WD blue HDD and a 1tb WD blue 2280 SSD. Even without a GPU it still runs some early PS4 titles pretty well. But there are a few options for compatible Low profile GPUs. I found the 3 i have in the trash! They're actually really good quiet space saving computers that can handle a decent load. I'd recommend this PC to someone that needs one for their living room especially since IT CAN PLAY DVDs too! BTW you can remove the fan from the Heat Sink so you can clean the dust from the fan blades. Theres also a connector for an optional SD card slot.
would like to get a hold of a 3070 SFF over my latitude 3480 can't have dedicated graphics without some janky adapter setup and even then the i3-6006u would bottleneck anything past GT 1030 would even trade the latitude if I could get a desktop

At this point you are the ultimate source for XPS 8960 machines on TH-cam. I was wondering if you have any suggestion for the following condition: my 4090 is covering all of the PCI slots on 8960. I was wondering if there is any way for me to bring out the two pci 4x slots from underneath the graphic card so I can use them for other peripherals?
You can try a flexiable riser cable for those ports like these: www.amazon.com/s?k=PCIe+3.0+X4+Riser+Cable&crid=S7GZGYQVKDZV&sprefix=pcie+3.0+x4+riser+cable%2Caps%2C67&ref=nb_sb_noss_1 What would you plug into these ports?
@@Scott.The.IT.Guy. thanks so much, can you also teach us how to max out these machines? I have a 4090 GPU on it with 4TB SSD using it for AI. All I have left on it is 2 SATA port and 1 m2 key slot. I can potentially upgrade the CPU to a 14900 as well. But my computer is still at 94% CPU and 80% RAM on benchmarks. Can I call the shop and get consult for a fee?
Probably less than what I paid for the Ram & SSD :) I can put you on the list if you are interested and once the machine is ready and packed, I can tell you exactly. The OptiPlex Micro is super small and will fit inside a USPS medium flat rate box.
This is such a coincidence, I just picked up a 3070 SFF for a family member and going to refurbish it as well! One thing I'm really curious about. Do Optiplexes, but the 3070 SFF in particular take Intel F processor. For example the 9400F is not on the list of supported CPUs but the Intel i5 9400 is. Would the 9400F still work when used with a low profile GPU?
I am sorry, I haven’t seen one comment anywhere that it would support F CPU`s,probably not but who knows… I have an OptiPlex 3000 SFF with an i5-12500 also have an 12900K CPU , I can try that, see what happens 😊 Also have an Opti 7020 SFF with the i5- 14500, was planning to swap that with the 14900K for the same reason.
I found 1 userbenchmark with that combo, so will give it a go 😄 Thank you so much for this video and all the other ones you make. I enjoy these types of videos way more than the ultra-polished ones with crazy edits that don’t give any useful info. Hope you’re channel will grow! Also, maybe I missed it. But where can I sign up for the Optiplex giveaway? Would love to learn more about setting up a home server or maybe helping out someone that could really use it in my area. Thank you!

Not sure what size power supply you have. Also not sure if the PSU has a 6 or 8 pin power connector or not. If you have least a 250w psu I would get a RTX 3050 oc or a Dell branded 6500 from eBay for cheap.

Sure you can, sInce the the only usable slot is right next to the power supply, you can only use single sloted GPU`s without addition power cable required. I will have a video on those cards in the next couple days. Like RX 6500, Nvidia T1000, GT730, RX550 , GTX1650
Unfortunately we don’t have great options regarding the graphics card. Even with the largest Dell PSU(300w) we don’t have a power connector for the GPU. We can only install graphics cards which are not requires additional power :(
