When inventions are built, they go into the future resources area. They are not just flipped over and used immediately. I made the same mistake! It's in the rulebook, "If an Invention is built, it is placed in the Future Resources space, Invention side up" p. 18. Overall, great job! This game has so many rules.

Such a great game. I just purchased it like a week ago. It plays great solo especially with island sounds playing in the background. :) I only wish I could play it more often with other people. However the solo is nice too with only one character I really do feel like a shipwrecked castaway.
Couldn't agree more, I LOVE THIS GAME! I wish I pulled it out more as well, but playing with others means you have to teach them too. And there are so many small things to think about. This one really is a 1 or 2 player game for me. Good luck on your island!!!
One Stop Co-op Shop Being mainly a solo player, I think this would be a fav for me. But I really just started on my games hobby mid last year. I am enjoying the heavier games, like the Colonist which was given to me for my birthday. This is long but if I'm at home alone.... it's on the table! So RC I think would most probably scratch the same itch.
In the scenario card it says "When all characters and children have survived any given round in which all 9 Items as well as the Shelter have been built and Roof, Palisade and Weapon level are at least 1, you win." Does the 'given round' mean that you have to survive till the end of the round for this scenario?
Oh, man, I would love to get my hands on this game. I've watched multiple playthroughs and every time I see it, it makes me want it even more. What I would really like is a game-lending library somewhere. So all of these games that you show us, we could try for ourselves :-)
No, sadly, I live in a tiny town at the top of Texas with virtually no other BGG people within 100 miles (virtually, because there is 1, but I sent him a pm and he never responded).
Not "sadly" like I'd like to live anywhere else, since I love this town (only 4000 people live here, but people from 21 different countries well-represented. So many languages, cultures, food types. My wife and I teach English as a Second - third, fourth, fifth - Language)
If I ever find myself in Minnesota (it won't be for a long time, since I don't know people or places there), I'll have to let you know :-) If y'all're ever passing through the top of Texas, give me a holler. (That last statement was the most Texas thing I think I've ever written. I'm not from here)
@1:08:30 Why did you cover the terrain type on two mountain tiles? The Event says "on that tile", and the other tile was a legit mountain (as in, not a wasteland).
Shouldnt the carpenter take another wound in the second round? 1 for unfufilled demand of the event and then 1 wounds for the unfufilled demand of the morale phase?
Also... You could draw from the bottom...this way you would not have to cut or double sleeve and it work out just fine ;-) Very nice playthrough thanks a lot!

Nothing says fun like feeding children?! You're really selling this game. lol. I love how close the game was. I love a game that winning or losing is a by-product and the joy is playing the game. This is why Arkham Horror is still makes it to my table. This game has gone up on my wishlist because of the new edition that has slightly better components, a smaller box, and a much lower price. The reviews on it have always tempted me, but it looks like I held off long enough. But my question is slightly different this time. I know the solo is supposed to be great, but how is the co-op?
I am just telling you right now, my best solo experiences have been with this game! I love it so much as I feel like there are so many tough decisions, and each decision you make will effect the entire game going forward. Should I use 2 meeples to guarantee or do I risk it? How are my wounds? Who needs to rest a pawn to heal and who can go and hunt? Should I build a roof? Do we need to travel? Gah I love it! In regards to Co-op, here is the thing. You need to play this with people who enjoy it like you do. I have taught this game to 5 different groups, and although it went OK (I mean we lost horribly) too many people got held up by all the choices. Everyone felt like the game was too brutal even on the Castaway scenario. However, as you see in this playthrough, winning is achievable, you just have to know you won't (or likely won't) win the first go at this game. You also are going to feel overwhelmed with options and that is OK. I have played this once with my wife, she actually really liked it. The downside was the time length. Since we play most of our games after this kiddos are asleep, she doesn't want to pull out a game that lasts close to 2 hours. I would HIGHLY recommend as a solo game or a co-op with someone who is willing to give it a try and learn about options etc. Hope that helps!
I think that was probably the answer I expected. I was thinking the time playing might increase with more players slowing it down and it seems to have a lot of moving pieces. I have few games like that in my collection. Games I just love, but I know to play with certain friends because others will be drowning in minutiae.
That is exactly right. Just too many moving parts for the average Joe to enjoy this one. But man is it a great experience when you win! Also the campaign that you can get for this is AMAZING! I am playing it with my brother in law right now and it is blowing us away. Tons of rules but loads of fun! Out of curiosity, do you have a favorite solo game, or Co-op game?
Sorry for not responding, I just saw this. Blasted notifications! You are exactly right! It is a 5 game campaign where each play affects the next, and it is awesome! It is rule heavy, but once you get through that it is fantastic! Takes ALL DAY though, and our brains hurt a lot after. . .
1:03:00 Your weapon level is actually at zero since it was only a temporary boost earlier. You forgot to bring it down to zero at that time. Edit: or is it permanent since it doesn't say on the token otherwise? The pistol, for example, says it's a temporary boost.

I have a video on spirit island. Actually 2 of them! Spirit island is superior to this I think. But this is more an adventure game. Spirit island is a different genre almost pandemic like. So if you are looking adventure I'd do this one!

When the Missionary is wounded, Moral goes up (instead of down) because the survivors are inspired by the Missionary's stoic acceptance of their fate.

Christians operate best under persecution and pressure. Hence the missionary’s morale gain on damage ability.
1:12:12 Actually you had shelter because you moved to a tile with natural shelter. Or I am wrong?
I have not found opaque/colore sleeves for this but you could cut out some card board and solide them into the cards (on the back)...
Also... You could draw from the bottom...this way you would not have to cut or double sleeve and it work out just fine ;-)

WHY don't you get two food and one wood every night?-- you have a snare?
Whenever you draw an event card with a book on it. Your production is reduced by half.
