Thank you! I love watching you play, you always sound like you have so much fun 😃. After watching I might finally find the courage to break out my copy. I must have watched Rodney Smiths Watch it played at least three times but I never dared to actually try because I am not very experienced with heavier boardgames. But now I get to watch you, I am so excited!
Rodney is AMAZING for rules, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Seeing it in action helps to see that there isn't as much going on as you might think!! I hope you pull it out, it is a true joy to play and when you win you feel so accomplished! Good luck!
One Stop Co-op Shop Thanks for the kind encouragement, I will finally try to try it this weekend. I love Rodneys videos, I hope nobody took my comment as a criticism on his work - it’s just exactly as you said, getting all the rules in this condensed form is daunting. Watching them in application helps. I still think this game was made for me, so beautiful, the exploration, the construction of stuff, the adventure. The only thing I wish would be different is I imagine I would like it more if it were less hard. More filled with nice friendly events and bunnies and unicorns 😉
Rodney is literally the best when it comes to rules explanation! I agree about the game though it can be harsh but don't let it daunt you! Play to explore not to win. You'll find your way soon enough!
One Stop Co-op Shop I just found that Rodney and Pep also did a playthrough. I thought I share the link in case anybody wants to watch and learn: th-cam.com/video/qIDzj-V9h9s/w-d-xo.html
One Stop Co-op Shop I did it! (not that anybody needs to care but I’m so happy) I played the castaways scenario using all four characters and probably making lots of mistakes. My nine year old helped, he mostly wanted to explore the island and roll dice. We kind of won (I honestly forgot to account for a plus one food needed during one night phase which would probably have killed us) and had a lot of fun. Can’t wait to play again. Thank you so much for giving me the courage to try!
Now see, this just left me with an issue. My table is currently occupied with Scythe mid campaign. I was planning to suspend it to start Journeys in Middle Earth, but I also have Robinson Crusoe. Thanks to you, I have to pick between them now.
I don't usually watch setup videos unless I have and am trying to learn whatever the game is, but got too excited for the future that I had to click here and say Yaaaaaay! Can't wait :)
Awesome so glad to see you doing this one! A friend bought it for me over a year ago. I tried to play it once but it was very intimidating at the time. I lost horribly, couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to be doing. But it is such a highly rated solo game that I haven’t wanted to give it up, just need some inspiration to try again.
Hope this gives it to you! It can be a brutal game that's for sure. Focus on what you need before want when playing. Use 2 pawns for needed items and want items use one pawn. Take risks but make sure to do that with healthy explorers!
SWEET!!! I was looking on BGG for a rules clarification awhile back and came across a thread where someone said their game came with incorrect grey dice so I decided to check mine. I had been playing for over a year with an incorrect grey die that was making the game even harder... LOL. BTW... those tokens are super cool!
We love you Colin! Always happy to see you back.
Whoot whoot! Good to playing again!
I've always wanted to add this game to my collection. Can't wait to see your take on this classic.
I hope you do Eric, it is worth the pickup if you can. Loads of fun!
I've been meaning to break out my copy for a while, this will make me do it! Great to see you again Colin!
I love hearing this!! Good luck Jack it is brutal but fun!
Another game I want to add to my collection. I can play vicariously with you Colin, thanks a lot!
You don't have this one?! This is a classic, a pure delight to play as long as you don't mind losing 70% of the time. Thanks for watching Franck!!

Those are some gorgeous looking tokens.
I like the trade off between food/morale for dealing with prisoners.
Yeah those tokens look amazing! I agree I felt like the prisoner idea was cool!

Journeys is so good too!! Good luck deciding!

Ohhh man that is brutal!!! Glad you were able to find the right proportion on your dice!
Yes, very excited for this :) Love Robinson Crusoe!
Who doesn't love pain and suffering! 😁
Wow this game is a beast. Remember my first time and it took 4 hours
Yeah it is not a quick game, but it sure provides an epic story!
