That's some quality playthrough right there! Just received my Gamefound version of this game 1-2 months ago and we've played the new introductory campaign to learn the game. We will play our first proper scenario soon.
This game is amazing. I still vividly remember the end of one of our sessions. My companions were fairly healthy, but I had suffered a great deal in our effort to gather wood to signal the passing vessels. But we were nearly there. All we had to do was survive the night and the next morning's events. If we could hold out just a tiny bit longer, we could safely gather the last bit of wood needed for our pyre. It was a brutal night, but we survived. I was down to my LAST health. We draw an event card (from the bottom of the deck). Every player gains 1 health. Not bad! We draw a second event card... every player loses 1 health. WHAT FORTUNE! Had these cards been drawn in reverse, I would have died! How absolutely amazing! What a PHENOMENAL way to beat the game! Just needed to draw one more card. ... Every player loses 1 health. FFFFFFUUUUUUand that's how my life got flipped-turned upside down.
Big thanks for this playthrough! It was awesome to finally see what a win looks like after failing this scenario so many times. Love this deluxe components too!
Thanks for this! Some catches: 44:09 you shouldn't have gotten an determination token for resolving that event card 58:44 every player should get a determination token, not just the two who handled the event 1:09:51 you don't have to last the round--you win immediately

Love this game but it is so funny sometimes. The carpenter of all people can't just build a SHOVEL of all things without incident. Carpenter not only gets injured in the process of building but then seems easily distracted and decides to go off and have an adventure too?! (Though at least the adventure produced larvae and a goat somehow!) Great playthrough though as always! :)

Great stuff thanks Colin, was really enjoyable to watch along to. All the bodies that were found were people killed by the gorilla who stole a pirate's cutlass. Which makes me think of a bad dad joke... Q: What do you call a pirate ape? A: A gorilAAAAR! That was indeed bad...😒 lol
Colin, my wallet can’t handle this! I seem to be buying every game you play, you make them all seem less daunting. Thankfully I found someone on Craigslist selling this with the expansions for cheap. Can’t wait to get it out and play!

Great playthrough Colin, as always! Just a few notes: - you should put pawns above each other when using them for a safe action. Theres a difference between using two pawns for two unsafe actions (even if its the same action - except exploring) or two pawns for one safe action. - technicaly the shovel would go onto the unavailable resources space first, you can't use it in the same action phase Question: What tokens did you use here? E.g. for the discovery tokens, or the camp token.
Hello Collin nice gameplay. I also own this great game. It is very good balanced between solo and multi plays. Expecially the solo mode is very good done and really fun. You can feel the adventure on a lonely island.
Congratulations for the win. I love the sound effects, they add to the theme. Rules query: I think at round 5 you should still produce 1 wood due to the + wood token.

As usual, you make it look fluid, approachable and easy to follow - but this game has a bit of a reputation for being complicated and difficult. Which is it?! 😉
6:13 You have to stack the actions to get the guaranteed otherwise you would draw a ? card for each action that’s not stacked, you do this to potentially build two inventions instead of a guarenteed one.

Ha, what a coincidence, I've just dived in to this game again after few years break 2 days ago, and we managed to save Jenny. Too fiddly for my taste to play it regularly (we were checking manual like every 5 minutes), but like it nonetheless.
I sold my copy and still waiting GF version to be delivered. It seems playing with 4 characters make it a bit easier compare to lower player count, right?

I think if you get 4 to 5 plays it flows but I do feel like your first play or 2 can be a challenge! Hope that helps!

You can! I prefer 4 but you can play at any player count
