Well Butch, ever since I’ve been watching this show and seeing your utter love of Thin Lizzy I’ve been watching Documentary’s and looking into more of their music and now I understand. He is a true songwriter, not just a musician but a real songwriter that comes from soul not just skills.....and as a teenager I saw Brian Downey on drums on a Lizzy video and he blew me away as a fledgling drummer but then thrash metal consumed my life....
    Cheers mate...

This made my day. I know it’s cliche, but I feel like I know this crew. Been a fan of SoT for several years, watched it grow to where it is today. Besides the great post, it was a pleasure to see Pete sit back and watch his friends, old and new, talk about their love of music and each other. I thank each and every one of you and here’s to a MUCH better new year. Cheers!

This was by far the best Hudson valley squares show yet! I liked learning about all the characters Pete has assembled here. I’m more interested in them as people than their music tastes tonight. This was a brilliant idea Pete. I love the Lynn and Butch dynamic - they are adorable! And I love Sidney’s passion she is so inspirational. I thought only old guys like me were passionate about their music. She is such a sweet person and her passion is unmatched. So young - I hope she reaches all her music business aspirations in her bright future. She so deserves it. Her parents are awesome! I was like that in my 20s, 30s and 40s. Brought a tear to my eye. And Nick’s mother nightwish story was so touching and I love Nightwish. Thank you Pete for getting me through this shitty covid year. Your show is the best on you tube.I never miss an episode even if I’m not interested in the band and I even watch the horror shows and I’m not even into horror movies- rock music yes though ! Can’t thank you enough Pete - you are simply the best and this was by far my favorite Hudson valley Monday night show yet. More of these types of Monday night shows please!
I love hearing more about each personality!
So good. You all riff so well off of one another. Post pandemic, I’d love nothing more than to drive to the Hudson valley and meet all you characters in a bar for a drink. So much fun ! Love the whole bunch of y’all !

It took me a few days to watch the entire episode. Now that it is too late...this is my all time favorite SoT episode. I belly laughed multiple times. I shed tears multiple times. Too many high points to keep track of. Every single person on the show touched me in some way. I don't have many "music" friends. Thanks for filling that void. Keep being yourselves. SoT has been a saving grace this year, it's been a calm ally whilst painting, cooking or seeking solace. It's introduced me to some gems like Anathema and Sons of Apollo, provided a warm comfort with the classics and even alarmed me at one point (one of the guests claiming that Come Together and other classics were bettered by simply 'beefing them up'). In the turbulent year that is 2020, thank you for being such a rewarding and good friend.

I loved hearing everyone’s’ stories. I’ve always been the kind of person who was always curious as to how others get into heavy metal music. If anyone cares, i was very fortunate that my parents grew up on those classic rock bands, you name the band and they knew of them or listened to them. My mom told me that when I was a small child I would lay next to those big floor speakers people had and fall asleep. The earliest memory that I can remember of hearing music & has always stuck with me; I must have been 5 or 6 and i can remember this so clearly, I remember hearing all of those crazy noises & people talking in parts of the songs from Dark Side of the Moon. Pink Floyd was my dad’s favorite band and they’re one of mine and I’m 41 now. The first album I got was I was 6 or 7 and it was Invisible Touch by Genesis. I remember going to my grandparent’s house on Saturday’s & they had MTV & I was so infatuated with the video to for Land of Confusion & of course I liked the song, so my mom bought me that album & I ended up listening to it constantly. Not very long after she bought me The Final Countdown from Europe & I constantly played that one too. I’ve never stopped being obsessed with rock/metal ever since. I know people who don’t listen to music at all & I wonder how in the hell do they make it through the day because I need to listen to something in my collection. First memory of the more extreme version of metal was like Nick, seeing Metallica’s One video on mtv, I was 10 yrs old & i wish I could’ve seen my own reaction to the first time hearing that song. It had to be very similar to when I heard Pink Floyd. You feel frozen & your mind is in a trance like state..some sort of euphoria or something. First concert I was 8 yrs old & my mom took me to see Alice Cooper at Compton Terrace in Phoenix Arizona. So many memories are burned into my mind from that show. My mom was so cool she came & got me out of school early one day. I asked her what was going on & she just said, “you’ll see when we get there”. Now at this point I think I was 8 or 9 & one of my favorite albums at that time was Whitesnake’s self-titled album. We go to a music store where they sold instruments, not a record store & there were 3 guys sitting at this table & they looked like the guys from the Still of the Night video. My mom asked if I recognized them I said, “I think so”? she said, “that’s the guys from Whitesnake now you know why I had to get you out of school early”. She told me years later she had to lie to the school people & say I had a dentist appointment. She was also mad that David Coverdale was the only one not there. I wish I still had the photos they signed. My parents got to see all of those bands, my mom told me the first time she saw Rush is when they opened for Uriah Heep, she said no one knew who they were & they turned into a big arena rock act not too far removed from that tour.

    Happy New Years to everyone!
I like how you guys often seemed very focused on whatever somebody else is talking about. I understand it's hard to sit totally focused for more than 1,5 hours but I like that it's not just a show about "me" and what "I" have to say then people just stare at a cellphone or something when someone else is talking.
The stories Sydney Taylor and Nick Franco (sorry to hear about your mom Nick) tells about their parents are important lessons. Nicks story with his mom and Nightwish is adorable. Sydneys parents helping her connecting with older rock is awesome. Just goes to show how important it is for you as a parents to try and connect with your kid. Most people have some interest.. Movies, books, sports or music. If you as a parent realize that one interest is more real than just "something to do" with your kid then try to meet your kid on the way there. I think it would mean a lot to most people. Nice that Steve got to take his parents too!
My parents are the same generation as Nicks and they could have been huge Elvis or Beatles fans but wasn't for some reason. Maybe if they were 5-10 years younger they might have been. My dad is more old school and haven't bothered one bit with any music I got interested in. My mom was was a bit better (openminded) but none of them had much to do with my love for rock. Sort of a shame and I reckon I could have found things a lot earlier than I did. Also have more incommon. I'm guessing many parents in say Petes age is better with this sort of thing than those from 1940's and earlier.
Also! I think Steve Keeler is doing the right thing and open up his shop with a wider perspective than just CD, LP or DVD's. Those stores are dying out. I think you have to have a wider spectrum of things to sell if you want to survive at these times. Pinball machines, games, CD, LP, merch.. Just anything that drags a certain kind of costumer! I see the same thing where I live the stores that seems to go rather well have a bigger variety of things. Those with mostly CD or games might not be around for much longer.

My only regret about this episode was that it deserved a cocktail or beer and Tuesday AM just wasn't right for that today. Laughs a-plenty and interesting stories. Thanks to everyone - for sharing a some of your histories and ties to each other with those of us watching, for making The Hudson Valley Squares live up to the must-see-TV title, and for helping to make 2020 better. Ii always get a chuckle out of Nick impersonating his dad. Like many of you, my love for music started from my folks' love of classical, big band, jazz and that they both played more than one instrument. There was always music in the house when I was growing up. Happy New Year all and looking forward to the first show of 2021.

I may be heading to NYC in a couple weeks and would love to drop in at Rock Fantasy, meet Steve and see the store. What a great group you have, Pete. Thank you for introducing all of us to the many personalities represented on the HVS. SoT is a very apropos name because this channel has been an oasis of peace throughout 2020. Hope you had a great Christmas and we'll see you in the New Year.

It was great hearing all your stories. I actually have distant ties to some of you. I grew up a bit up the road from you guys, in Albany, and used to pass through your area on the way to NYC often while growing up. July 26, 1988 wasn't just a day a couple of you met, it was also my 18th birthday. A few weeks later, I was off to Colorado for college, and I've spent most of my life in Colorado since then. However, from the start of 2010 until May of 2015, I lived in New Jersey just outside of NYC, while attempting a career change. During that time, I went to Metal shows in NYC, primarily at the Gramercy. I almost certainly was in the building with some of you on one or more occasions. I also got to know Eddy Guevara, who is big into Horror memorabilia, and might be known to you, and he got me into Chiller in Parsippany a couple of times (my big reason for going was to meet painter Ken Kelly, which was great fun). I assume Chris, at least, was there at the same time. Since coming back to Colorado, I joined some Metal FB groups, and through one got to know Richard Henry. My hobby is writing World War 2 history books, and Richard was a fan of my books, in addition to liking similar Extreme Metal. Only this year, I found out Richard and Pete are friends, which was a small-world situation, as I have read reviews on the SOT website for a decade or more, and watched Pete's videos for a few years now. I no longer have any family in New York, but if I'm ever in the area, I'll be sure to check out Steve's shop! Cheers to you all!

Another excellent show with some great stories. Steve appears to be the hub of this unit.
I have been watching SOT for nearly two years and it’s just getting better and better. I “knew”most of the people here from earlier shows before the Hudson Valley Squares show started. I can relate to some of the stories about how the metal influence started with people. I have never been to New York but it’s near the top of my list. When I get there I will definitely be paying a visit to Rock Fantasy.
One thing I learned.....there’s such a thing as Pinball competitions???
