    Takeaways from tonight's episode:
    1. Chris A., Chris C., Ryan and Sydney plus Jaime Laslo and Craig Kaminsky in the house. (Apologies if I spelled the guests names wrong)
    2. "I got the Chris Alo thing going on"
    3. "...there are two separate assholes who are playing flute and recorder"
    4. "There is a whole orchestra of shit on this song"
    5. "It's a symphonic sack of shit"
    6. "It feels like it's six months long"
    7. "If you got one - you've got to collect them all"
    8. "I told him (Nick) he was on crack for picking this song"
    9. Chris Alo sings "Changes" and its impossible not to laugh and smile...
    10. "...the turd burger in between two buns of steel"
    11. "Craig's had a lot of coffee tonight"
    12. "Are we really gonna act like Kelly Osborne is a singer?"
    13. "I'm gonna tear this motherfucker apart"
    14. Maiden Math
    15. Symphony of Suck
    16. "The reason you cry is because you spent money to buy this garbage"
    17. "Paul Stanley touched you in a bad place"
    18. Hairy Bum ???
    19. "I'm kinda creeping myself out"
    20. The aunt you got a boner for...
    21. Auntie "side boob" glimpse by the pool...
    22. "He's definitely not gonna answer now!"
    23. "I sense a trend here..."
    24. "...a dog shit version of a shit song"
    25. "...a string arrangement from hell"
    26. "Michael Keaton"
    27. "Douchebag"
    28. Wow! A Shout out to me from Pete. The answer to your question: I only watch the show once, but I pause and rewind often as I take down notes. An hour show will take me about an hour and a half to watch. 2 hour shows are brutal now that I am back working...but I can't let you down, lol.
    As for the topic:
    1. The only song by Led Zeppelin that I never cared for was "The Battle Of Evermore" 2. The Exodus song I do not care for is their cover of "Low Rider"
Finally, I love Rush but only listen to their first 10 albums. The one song on those 10 albums that I don't care for will surprise most peoplw- its "Fly By Night" I don't hate it, I just don't care for it and will sometimes skip over it.

Kiss- Great Expectations yet nobody’s gonna mention Lyrics being that Gene Simmons is such an egotistical prick lol 😂 The song was about himself banging those 14yr. old Geishas in Tokyo which then was kept totally hush 🤐 hush; and no mention of pedophilia..? I agree with C. although you’re missing the point where what he’s talking about is “Anybody’s lucky 🍀 to be with this sick fuck! Ace Frehley IS Kiss 💋 face it guys and Sydney (?) In all honesty. Cheers Squares. That was one of the funniest episodes ever! Between Craig, Jamie and Chris too funny. Craig was on a roll man. Symphonic Sack of Shit! My three favorite bands are Rush, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.
Rush: Tai Shan is Tai Shit.
Led Zeppelin: Hats of to Roy Harper. I love Led Zeppelin III but man this song sucks. They should have included Hey Hey What Can I Do.
The Beatles- Revolution #9. They should have listened to George Martin.

    • @jimmycampbell78
      @jimmycampbell78 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hats of to Roy harper is a strange song. I find that a lot of people don’t get it. To me it sounds like they were doing a pastiche of traditional blues music. They even recorded it so it sounds like a scratchy 1930s-1950s recording with Jimmy Page playing a bottleneck slide and echo/distortion on Plant’s voice. The lyrics are all quotes from old blues songs, Bukka White etc. Roy Harper’s music doesn’t sound like this. So I don’t understand the title or the inspiration for the song.

Great show funny as hell.Craig was on tonight. The symphonic sack of shit and the turd burger in between two buns of steel comment was hilarious. And totally agree with craig on KISS Great expectations.Horrible. My picks would be 1. Pantera-Good friends and a bottle of pills.Great title but annoying song, its just phil mumbling how he fucked some dudes girlfriend while the dude was past out and DIMEBAG just making feedback noise, always had to skip it.2. Black Sabbath- Breakout off of Never say die.Horrible instrumental that has saxophone on it.Saxophone and black sabbath do not mix well. 3.Judas priest-Epitaph. All i have to say is what were they thinking.Talk about a turd burger in between two buns of steel with genocide and island of domination. It sounds like halford was about to start singing look at me im as helpless as a kitten up a tree, not good.HM OZZY - So Tired. This song without a doubt is the ultimate symphonic sack of shit.I know i used Craigs quotes but couldnt think of a better way to describe those songs.

It was nice to see the Squares get back with an interesting show this week. It’s just my thing, but I’m not a big fan of the album war shows. Would have been great if Butch could have been on tonight.
As far as song we hate from bands we love…
    1. Rush - “Tai Shan” from Hold Your Fire. Rush is my favorite band of all time, but this song that was inspired by Neil Peart’s bike ride around China was terrible. “When China sang to me”…Too much syrup here.
    2. Rolling Stones - “Harlem Shuffle”. This cover could have put a nail in the Stones’ coffin back in ‘86, and I’m almost surprised it didn’t.
    3. Boston - Pretty much every song on the “Walk On” album. I remember hearing “I Need Your Love” on the radio when I was in Japan, getting excited about a new Boston record, buying the thing at Tower Records in Osaka and…Wanting to throw the CD out when I realized Brad Delp wasn’t singing on it.

F*cking ‘Tattoo’ by Van Halen. Just because I was so hyped for ADKOT when it came out; VH’s first full length album with DLR in almost 30 years. No Michael Anthony was a bit of a red flag to say the least, but I had seen Wolfy play live and knew he was talented… I was optimistic and willing to give him a chance. I imagined this album coming out and just blowing away all of the current pseudo “rock” bands out of the water, showing what real rock ‘n’ roll was all about. I was so excited when they dropped the first single ‘Tattoo’ along with the music video on TH-cam. I couldn’t wait to play it… and then I did… 🤦 I don’t think I had ever felt so much cringe listening to a song in my entire life. There was no hook. No punch. No drive. Dave’s vocals were shot, which made the non-existence of MA’s backing vocals that much more noticeable because it wasn’t there to help balance out Dave’s lack of range. Eddie sounded okay, but the song itself sounded over-produced and nowhere near as raw as the original albums. All-in-all it was just a bad and disappointing song that instantly killed the hype for the rest of that album, which is unfortunate because there are actual goods songs on it.

For me, 80's Alice Cooper is kind of like 80's KISS...I just don't care for it, with a few exceptions (the title track of "Lick It Up" is ok). Love both bands' 70's output, though. In my opinion, most of the great 70's bands put out subpar material in the 80's.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Dio ballads. Say what you will about how ferocious Ronnie's voice was, he had an unparralled tenderness to his voice that I've always loved. I remember trying to get one of my girlfriends, whose heaviest favorite band was Jethro Tull "Songs From The Wood" era, to admit that Metal was as intellectually stimulating as whatever classical or jazz album she was spinning at the time. I played her a Dio song and she said he had a feminine voice. I was a little shocked to agree with her but, it's that tenderness he evoked with some of the softer phrases in songs like "All The Fools Sailed Away", "Don't Talk To Strangers" (I'm pretty sure it was one of those songs she commented on) and of course the ballads he did like "Rainbow Eyes" and "Catch The Rainbow".

I love thrash, but I don't hate groove metal. So when Slayer added a little in, I thought is sounded cool as fuck. When i was still making mix tapes or CD's, only Disciple and Payback had a chance of making it.
Pete: i absolutely hate Unmasked. Because of Unmasked(and maybe to a lesser extent Dynasty), and the lead single to the Elder being World Without Heroes, people assumed Elder was another candy-ass album. It really wasn't, and it was sooooooo much better than Unmasked. But the reaction to Elder, and Creatures, was the bill coming due from a Disco and then a Pop record back to back, also after the mostly shitty solo albums(other than Ace).

It received no airplay from the BBC who of course hated it and never played any heavy metal. Thanks to everyone who hated Clif Richards (most of us) and Iron Maiden fans (millions of us) it went straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart on 30 December 1990. I used to really dislike "Changes". it was the one blight on what is also one of my favourite Sabbath albums (second only, perhaps, to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath). But then two things happened:
    1. I went to see a friend's Sabbath tribute band for something like the dozenth time. They were playing in this bar. They brought their fans, but I'm sure most of the people in that place weren't hardcore Sabbath fans at all. i was always bugging them to play lesser known songs, and making fun of them for ending their sets with "Paranoid". Well, they decided to pull out "Changes". My friend, the bassist, was on keyboard. To my surprise, everyone in the place was singing along. It was a real warm, communal moment and I admit the whole thing softened my heart about the song. And then...
    2. I heard Charles Bradley's cover of the song, and I realised what "Changes" is actually supposed to be. It's supposed to be a genuine soul tune. Sabbath is not a soul band; Ozzy is not a soul singer, and although it's a well-written song, it's maybe not executed on Sabbath quite in the way that brings it 100% to life and really makes you feel the real emotion in the piece. Mr. Bradley really brings it to life. I encourage anyone who is dubious about this song, or, hell, anyone who thinks it's actually a cool song already, to go listen to this cover. It may just change the way you think about "Changes" forever.
probably not Chris though! I think he might be immovable on this one.

    1. Rush is my favorite band, but I don’t like most songs they did after the Signals album, so I’m limiting myself to picking something from the classic era. So my Rush pick will be “Rivendell.” It’s a five minute snooze-fest that feels like it goes on for at least eight minutes. Geddy’s vocals are uncharacteristically boring to fit the equally uninteresting soundscape on the song. The only thing it’s useful for is as a lullaby to help me fall asleep if I’m restless.
    2. My second pick is “Turn of the Century” by my second favorite band, Yes. Not my least favorite Yes song ever (pretty much everything from Heaven and Earth is worse), but it is my least favorite from the classic period. It’s just boring to my ears and I’ve never been able to get into it, despite my best efforts when listening to Going for the One.
    3. My third favorite band is Led Zeppelin, but I actually don’t dislike any Zeppelin songs. So I’ll pick a song from my fourth favorite band, Triumph. My pick for them is “Magic Power,” an overrated, unrepresentative, overtly poppy track from one of the most underrated bands of all time. The fact that this song was a hit bothers me to no end because it’s what a lot of people think when they think “Triumph.” Triumph was a great hard rock power trio that infused bits of blues, jazz, and Prog. “Magic Power” is none of that and it uses a cheesy pop chorus to bring in listeners that would never give the regular Triumph a chance. It’s not my least favorite Triumph song, but its existence still annoys me.
