I have zero violation and a 10 year license, but that didn't matter when a kamote lady rider executed a sudden illegal U-turn in front of me. I only had less than a second to react and it was highly unpredictable which got into my first road crash ever. she was trying to avoid enforcers ahead on a solid yellow lines which I soon found out after I crashed into her and they all come running. they said good thing I had my helmet on, I must have smashed my head pretty hard. I wouldn't know because the first seconds after the initial impact were blank until I landed on the pavement. I messed up my chest, bruises on the arms despite wearing and long sleeve waterproof jacket, minor limping despite wearing motojeans and midcut shoes. but my head were unscathed thanks to my helmet.
That's the thing people forget, when they're defending kamote riders or drivers. They literally cause accidents for other people. I was riding one morning and it was raining heavily. A kamote rider suddenly swerved in front of me and immediately crashed into the back of the car in front, throwing him and the bike sideways on the road. I literally had nowhere to go, so I went straight into his bike and flew over the handlebars. Even with the heavy rain, he was still riding like an idiot 🤦
I reckon, probably, millions of these drivers do not have driver's license. One would wonder if these motorbike riders possess any driving skill at all. The crooked mentality of most Filipino drivers, I hope, will eventually change for good. MMDA is doing an incredible job and their tenacity in performing their tasks will surely help a lot in moulding the primitive minds of the Filipino people. The quick transition from not knowing how to drive to being able to afford these modern vehicles is one of the main reason/s why up to now most of them haven't realized yet that they need to have a driver's license and a garage or a place to park their newly acquired vehicle/s. A lot of people still carry their helmet, even if they don't intend it. Often it's because if they're flagged down, they'll tell the enforcer not to ticket them because they'll just put the helmet on. And many fixed-post enforcers allow it 🤷
Those MMDA stickers on the motorcycles are unauthorized. Once apprehended, the driver should be made to remove these stickers immediately and done in the presence of the MMDA. Please reach out to MMDA and see if this policy can be implemented.
The MMDA should visit UN AVENUE in Manila along the Manila Science High School beside the Manila Police Station, People could hardly move on the sidewalk from San Marcelino Ave to Taft Ave. It is filled with POLICE PRIVATE MOTORCYCLES all parked on the entire sidewalk. ARE THEY ALL UNTOUCHABLES?!?! Why are they not being raided as well? That sidewalk is like a basurahan of police motorcycles/vehicles.
A lot of Manila City was already turned into paid parking, either with MOAs, permits or parking attendants. That was the constant struggle for the MMDA during clearing operations. They would see a vehicle that's illegally parked, in the road, sidewalk or bicycle lane. But then the driver would show that actually it has been permitted by the City. And the clearing teams were always advised to honor parking schemes approved by the City itself. So my advice would be to send your complaint directly to MTPB. The City really might not consider that to be illegal parking.

I guess the closest approximation to other countries would be a local town government. Some barangays are quite big, but many are literally just two or three streets. I'll try to include some kind of basic explanation in future videos, for the international audience to better understand 👍
I’d compare it to an HOA-a bunch of people elected to enforce the rules they want, and yet having very little enforcement power, who get to spend funds entrusted to them as they please. There are exceptions, but overall, in my opinion it’s not until police are contacted that anything changes.
Although they are authorized to enforce local ordinances. I've shown at least one barangay enforcement operation in the past - related to smoking and littering ordinances. It's important to note that it's a government unit.

As for giving seminars, I guess they could, but imagine how many hundreds or thousands of tickets are issued every day. They'd need to build a whole university to accommodate all the seminars lol
