  • The MMDA continue to act on complaints from residents that are tired of the illegally parked vehicles on their streets - including those that obstruct their private driveways and garages.

This mentality that people have about "i was caught/ticketed, how about them?" irks me so much. It betrays the intention that even after getting caught and penalized, they still want to look for a reason to get away, because if they see that somebody else isn't caught or ticketed, it justifies their feelings of being wrongfully caught or penalized. 🤷‍♂
How about we all just FOLLOW the rules, eh? regardless of what others do, regardless if people in authority are watching or enforcing the rule? How about we live by a code of integrity and honesty? Would that be such a bad thing? 🤦‍♂

      I completely agree.
Whenever there are corrupt officials caught doing something illegal, people always say "How will normal citizens follow the law if the authorities don't set a good example?". This is BS. We are already aware of what is right and wrong so we should do what is right regardless of what others do. We're not kids who need guidance 24/7.

Exactly. If the majority of people just follow rules and become good citizens, the country would be a better place ... But a TON of pinoys are not disciplined and hard headed. Why?

Your videos truly show how many people drive motor vehicles without a license. Though a large number of them are in the metro, we do have them in provinces as well. I hope similar operations will also be conducted by the LGUs to apprehend these people. A lot of road crashes happen due to lack of knowledge on the roads.

I showed him CCTV from a few days earlier, where a mother and child had an accident after a pedestrian walked into the road.

Seems to me that the punitive fines are too low, enforcement is not too frequent, people are willing to take the chances because they get away most of the time.

it would be nice if you showed the blue fence, to see if it is mounted on the pavement/sidewalk. because then i would understand the mistake

If I was the driver and I saw that all the other trucks and vans are parked inside the space, but my vehicle is extended over the sidewalk, that would already be a red flag in my mind.
As for the blue gate, it's installed on the private property. But it unfolds and extends over the sidewalk when open.
I would hope and assume that they fold the gate back to clear the sidewalk, whenever there's no immediate need for it to be extended.
Here's a sample from Google Street View, 2018, which shows the gate in it's folded configuration - imgur.com/AG1vc2T

Imagine if those living in slum areas were to be relocated to proper housing communities and the area they left (probably private properties) be converted into parking spaces to accommodate the vehicles of those living within every neighborhood. It certainly makes good use of the land and clears public roads of those illegally parked vehicles. Slum areas only create squalor and public order issues while greatly prejudice the owners of the lands they are illegally settled into. Barangay officials in Metro Manila, maybe due to sheer ignorance of the consequences or their unending greed to hold onto their positions, tend to "invite" more and more folks to illegally settle in their area of jurisdiction. At the end of the day, just like the video says, "that means they don't have any respect for their Barangay, right?", we all see whose the clear loser here. Great job again Gadget Addict.

Nah.. all it would do is breed more of the same and be detrimental to society especially the income tax payers.
Better drop the Oppenheimer thing instead.
