I recently did the tour and really enjoyed the guide's enthusiasm that she demonstrated when she shared the stories. It was a smaller group which made it easier to hear over the hustle and bustle of the city. I felt bad at the end when several people left without paying. I feel that if you are going to go on a tour and enjoy and experience, then you should contribute, we all gotta pay it forward.

LOVED the storytelling! I could have listened to Sandy all night. I'm a tour guide in Boulder CO and I completely get what Sandy is saying about the sensationalism of horror in the media predisposes ghost tour guests into thinking they are going to see a ghost wielding a knife on every corner. The expectation on ghost tours is set way too high because of the media. I'm an historian and storyteller and I love just telling the stories and the creepy. I don't need the drama and the gore. Thank you so much for creating this video!
Absolutely love Andrew, Robi, James, and now Sandy! I had never heard the “Black Hand” theory to the Ax Man Murders, found that to be very interesting. Thank you all!
We are bringing on the whole team. We have another guide who is going to make her debut at some point soon. If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please do share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
I just started working at a restaurant in the Quarter and I love going to work seeing the city every day.. this place is crazy haunted, growing up if you didn’t know someone that’s house was haunted then you just didn’t know enough people. I’ve had a few experiences myself.
I myself have never been to Louisiana but will be traveling next year and will be getting to stay in New Orleans for a good year maybe just a little longer. I've always been intrigued with the city it's self and all of the rich culture and history of the city, the people. I of course want to get to see all of the tourists hot spots and not just all of New Orleans but I also want to see some of the old plantations and the beautiful old homes that are both in the city of New Orleans and in the surrounding areas! I will be working of course while I'm there but in all of my free time I want to spend as much time as possible to learn as much as I can about the city, the people, the religion, the culture! I can remember being five or six years old and my night time bed story that I would always ask for would be the books my Daddy had about New Orleans instilling in me a deel interest and love for a place I've never been but can't wait to immerse myself into all of it!!
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ lol well there is a chance she has a doppleganger, but our Uber Driver was named Sandy and looked JUST LIKE HER lol. And she was telling us all kinds of cool New Orleans stories during our ride. Then I came home and saw this and was like THATS HER!! LOL
Thank you! I used to live in New Orleans, and I miss the vibe, but not the sweltering heat! God Bless you all! I also miss the great food! New Orleans is like no other place in America, and that's why we love it!
Thanks again for watching! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
I've been going down a virtual rabbit hope with this channel all day. What amazing videos this channel has!!! How did I not know about this channel before? I'm sharing all over the place now! Love & blessings to everyone who leads these tours. You are ALL amazing! 💜🙏💜
The first night I'm in a new place I always do a historical ghost tour because it gives me an overview of the city and then I can deceide what things are a must see while I'm there! When I was younger I went for the thrill factor, but then realized it's always a great 'first night' thing to do.

@@FreeToursbyFootHQ I’ll be down to my beloved NOLA next year. Robi, Andrew, James, Sandy and Kayla, I’ll be bringing you guys something uniquely Kentucky!
It blows my mind that there were survivors found in the Lalaurie house and still ‘nobody knows’ what happened?!? Why didn’t anyone just ask the people who were there? It speaks volumes about how little their testimony meant at that time. Nobody thought to freaking ask them what happened, or thought it valid enough to write down?
The newspapers didn't even interview the firemen who broke into the torture room. That's what really boggles my mind. They would've been white men, so race wouldn't have been an issue. So why?
I love it! My husband and I love the city, we used to work with the Saint's in the 1990s, my husband was in charge of the computer network for statistics. We got married during the season in 93 and we did our honeymoon in the city. We spent a lot of time at O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub at 508 Toulouse when we were in town. It's now a restaurant. Danny O'Flaherty didn't reopen the pub after Katrina. I fell in love with the place (and the music!) and, when I finally started my writing career, the first book has Danny's pub in it. There's a ghost story attached to the building that I've read about and included in the book. In the 1820s, the building was a private home. Joseph Wheaton had a mistress kept on the 3rd floor of the building. He would go there to see her. His wife found out and he went to break it off, or throw her out, it's not clear what exactly the circumstances were. But the mistress, who I named Angelique, was either pushed or thrown out the window of the 3rd floor apartment. Thing was, Joseph was seen by a young black child and, fearing his wife would leave him and his business would fail, he killed himself in the apartment. It's said that both Joseph and Angelique still haunt the building. In my book, Joseph's wife, Mary Wheaton is also haunting the apartment and the fight is always him against the wife, the mistress against the wife, then the girls gang up on him for the fight. My female vampire, who has been left in the apartment while her rescuer goes to find clothing in the ruined River Walk mall (the night after Katrina) and Joseph comes onto her, before the women show up to gang up on him. I know the story is in some of the tours, we've never taken a tour, but I do a lot of reading and found the story online as well. I would love another ghost story walk by you and Sandy, that was such a great tour.

This might be a little morbid but Sandy's explanation of the Axe Man, serial killer and jazz lover a.k.a. the Angel of Death was very enjoyable. LoL Thanks for a great video!
Anticipated this! Your Nola Free Tours by Foot Team are absolutely amazing! Love the chemistry, the perspectives, and the knowledge of the topics both truth, false, and debunking. You all rock!🖤⚜

My husband is completely bald. We once stayed at the hotel adjoining Muriel’s, and a ghost tour kept stopping by our room window. After awhile, my husband started sticking his head out the curtains with his phone flashlight under his chin doing his best ghost impression to give the tours extra bang for their buck. I think that he achieved a total of one confused look from a random woman. 😂 On a serious note, I appreciate the information that you presented about Laulaurie. Thanks for being informative and not salacious.
Thanks for watching, Brianne, and for sharing this story about your husband and Muriel's! If you know of anyone else who might also enjoy these videos, please do share us with them. We would really appreciate that! Thank you.
As far as Hollywood, one of my favorites that brought voodoo to the front for me was "Skeleton Key". I read the book "The Witching Hour" by Ann Rice. Of course I saw "Interview with a Vampire". However, "The Witching Hour" was the turning point. I read it and it was like I visually saw the Garden District. I had never been to New Orleans, and at that point knew I had to go. I have since been there many times. I call it or feel I have some kind of kindred spirit with New Orleans, maybe all of do that fall in love with the place. I also feel I have a tingle and feeling of ghosts. I have not seen a ghost that I am aware of in New Orleans, but I have felt something. I do think I have seen ghosts in the town I live. There is something special about the above ground burial cemeteries, and than the "Holt Cemetery".
The Witching Hour is an amazing book for transporting you completely to the Garden District. I read it every spring as a sort of end-of-winter tonic and I always feel like I'm right there. I visited, too, as a direct result of reading the book, and it was a surreal experience to be in such a magical place in person. Will never get tired of that book. :)

I love these Free Stories By Foot. As Sandy puts it, you probably wont expect a ghost on these tours but its learning about the history. Which I love! Most people probably won't admit this in the comments but I am a high sensitive intuitive. However it's okay to judge my comment. I have been to the French Quarter but unfortunately my abilities were and can be very distracted by large groups and Mardi Gras certainly didn't help. I will be returning off season very soon and I'm curious about if I'll pick up anything on my second visit. ❤️

Just did the ghost tour with FTBF this past week. Would love to have had Sandy as our guide. While the stories were great, our guide was challenged to give us the best that he could because there were so many various ghost tours taking place at the same time. At one location there were five different groups all jockeying for a position. Our guide had to give us the story while we were looking down the street trying to figure out which building we were supposed to be looking at. And it was a bit harder to hear because the guide was trying not to be too loud in order to not disrupt the other groups in the vicinity...not a courtesy that some of the other tour guides reciprocated. Overall a enjoyable tour but if you are taking it during a busier time of year, be prepared for traffic jams of tours.

Love the free tours idea!!! I hope you guys get paid a suitable amount for such an invaluable gift you've given of yourself and quite selflessly at that! It would also be super helpful for someone like me who doesn't have much money, is disabled and unable to work, but vastly curious about the paranormal and historical myths, legends, etc. I would only be able to give so much but i would likely give none the less. :)
The documentary Sandy gave about how that woman tortured the slaves is so horrific that not even a show like "American Horror Stories" could capture. It is generally known that such shows embellish history, and their lack of true historical context usually makes it unbelievable. What Sandy told us is so heartbreaking and supported by the historical context, it's hard to imagine anything more brutal and morbidly justified by the times. Thank you for sharing the truths of the past without mincing words. I think people need to know the truth.

Weird thing....I'm an American, but was born in France, and have lived in both St. Louis and New Orleans. So, when a friend suggested we get tattoos when we were in New Orleans, I just got a small Fleur di Lis on my back, since France, St. Louis and New Orleans all use that symbol, plus I've always really liked it. I nearly choked when she said "White people, please DON'T get that tattoo!", since she said it was how they branded enslaved people caught trying to run away! (Oooops, Sorry!)😮😮😮
I would love to do "ghost" tours because behind the ghostly front is the history of an area:) This was delightful to watch because it didn't "jazz" up the facts :) Thank you :)

I absolutely love New Orleans. The food is wonderful! The people are really great. The music is unlike anyother, and completely addicting! Think of Professor longhair & Dr. John! And I had the experience of going to a private party at the Famous Allen Toussaint's home! There are lots of spooky grave yards there, but beautiful graves, for a Metaphysical teacher like me!

Loved 🥰 the tour! Always wanted to go to New Orleans. To go to the cemeteries 😝 I don’t believe in “ghosts”. So I would be going to look at all the historical beauty. Part of the oddity of about Louisiana is that the tombs are about the ground, this is do to it being below the water table. I am sure that many ghost stories were created about floating bodies during floods that made great stories. A lot of drinking and partying occurred in French Quarters creating stories just like the gambling town of Deadwood. History is interesting and the history of the History even more!♥️❤️💕♥️❤️💕

Couldn't agree more :). Thanks for taking the tour and for watching.
That surprises me; I took a walking tour of the Garden District and we paid in advance.
Hello. What's a fair tip for these wonderful tour guides?
And thank you for posting these fascinating videos here on TH-cam. I enjoy watching them very much.
Is it really paying it forward? They should pay because they received something. Cheap bas***s

Thank you.
@@FreeToursbyFootHQ I'm so glad I found your channel! Great job, y'all! Will definitely try to donate soon. Thanks very much!
Yes that was before they called the the Mafia.
@FlyingMonkies325 when I have time tomorrow I will post some.
After going on a ghost tour at night, the city has a whole new feel from that point on.
I really appreciate the use of "enslaved" instead of calling them slaves. Thank you 😊
It's a very important distinction. Agreed.
Thank you...I said the same thing in a previous video💕
Same !!!!
What’s the difference?
@@QueenKsEverything So do you really think that the last slaves of the 1800s are still alive and still slaves?
1:30 "Something's lurking around the corner." Hell yeah! NOLA is dangerous!
Omg I was just in New Orleans last week and Sandy was one of our Uber Drivers!!!! Wow!!!
Ha. We didn't know that she was an Uber driver :). We learn something every day.

You are amazing, Angelina. Thanks for sharing and we are glad that you found us.
The first night I'm in a new place I always do a historical ghost tour because it gives me an overview of the city and then I can deceide what things are a must see while I'm there! When I was younger I went for the thrill factor, but then realized it's always a great 'first night' thing to do.

Sandy it’s so good to see you! You’re with Andrew, who is Mr. New Orleans to more than a few people. Thank you guys for giving us your city.
Always nice to receive a compliment from you, Todd.
The interviews and newspaper articles written at the time have come into high question, which is why no on ereally knows.
yes it has always bothered me. She was epitome of evil monster. I need answers!! The victims deserve the true story aired out!
The newspapers didn't even interview the firemen who broke into the torture room. That's what really boggles my mind. They would've been white men, so race wouldn't have been an issue. So why?
@FlyingMonkies325 I appreciate this small history! If nobody else does ✅
@@TheRealStellaNoWine so do i
I had a paranormal experience while staying at the Dauphine Orleans. I woke up in the middle of the night to children chanting.
Well damn…lol 😳🫣😄
Have you ever seen anything?
You should include some tales about Marie Laveau and Jelly Roll Morton, both NOLA legends!
Will pass this on to the crew. Thank you.

On a serious note, I appreciate the information that you presented about Laulaurie. Thanks for being informative and not salacious.

Bald men scare me!
@@jamesr1703 Bald men only scare me if they also have goatees, which it seems like the usually do.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and for sharing your experience with everyone, Carol. We appreciate that. Sounds like you caught the NOLA fever.

Wow. The shade thrown around in this intro is hilarious!
Sass, it's Sass! LOL

I love how Sandy warned white people not to get the tattoo. That was 💯 pure gold. Our ancestors appreciate you! 🖤✌🏾
I feel weird about it being the logo for The Saints, they're my favorite football team.
Les fleurs de lys represent something else in Quebec, the french province in Canada. 😕
What are mixed people allowed to do? Can they get half of one?
@deb7518 WELL THATS NOT HOW THE FLEUR DE LIS MEANS TO MEANS "RELIGION"⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️

Sandy, please start your own channel,, this is what the paranormal community needs.
Tell me why yall told more stories than the 2 hour tour I took last night with a different ghost tour company?!

Every time I go to New Orleans something always scary happens to me. I’m thinking it might have to do with the Voodoo.. but I adore the culture!
Well hopefully it's not the voodoo, but if you're ever feeling unsafe exploring New Orleans, consider joining us on one of our in-person ghost tours: freetoursbyfoot.com/new-orleans-ghost-tour/
We also offer virtual tours covering the subject of voodoo in New Orleans that you can find on this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.html

Sandy is really good. Respectfully sassy.
Agreed!
It's amazing that the evil woman not.only escaped but also made it to France with her wealth. It's disturbing she faced no consequences.😡
I love that Sandy was part of The Mayfair Witches show
Glad that you enjoyed the video. If you haven't already done so, hopefully, you can check out our other virtual tours of New Orleans th-cam.com/play/PLpNEdLF6RWV3oDPK7SD9GOttlhvaGBsh2.html.There is more where this came from.
Great video! Sandy is such a fun storyteller 📚❤️
She really is. We hope to get her on more videos.
