Marcus, jst a lil tip, as your paintwork is fresh in boot, get a couple of toweling towells run them under water, WRING OUT! and place along the inside of bk panel, this should keep the paint damage to a minimum, if your quick with your welds 👍👍
One of your charity Escort rs stickers is on the back of me motor and it has travelled 2000 miles London - Istanbul! Yes i have broken down too lol !!!
Hello Marcus you met remember me I met you at North world car meet I introduced you to CT1 I have a confession to make when I was 18 I was the one who welded the rear quarters of Heidi it used to have a beige final roof the car used to belong to my ex brother in law James I'm 48 now so it was a few years ago it used to have a x rally Crossflow engine in with a full Piper exhaust i also put it in primer I used 2K and satellite primer and some of the lower was done in stone chip that's why it was hard to remove in places If you decide to cut panels out I would pay postage if you would send them to me as it was my first MIG welder and first welding job
Interesting.Nice to hear some info on ‘Heidi’s past. Feels a bit of a shame to build her into a slow car now, knowing she used to run a lairy crossflow! . . . If I do end up cutting those bits out, drop me an email and we’ll arrange something. 👍
Thank you Marcus soon as you stripped off the paint I know what car it was the engine come out of my cousins car that he bought as x rally car it was rotten so he parted all the bits out it did have RS2000 rear axle but I never got around to welding boxes in for trump Arms it was my daily for a little while and then he bought me a Rover 827 so he could have his escort back
Awesome progress again mate 👌 I know you said you didn't want to buy the lower rear panel....but...it'll save you a load of work, trying to get the shapes symmetrical, although it's under the bumper and not really seen. I would also look into some panel bond, not sikaflex or CT1, but the insurance approved type that's used regularly in bodyshops. Its just as strong as weld, but you could still plug weld the panel onto the rear chassis ends. It'll save the possibility of burning the paintwork you've already done on the inside of the rear panel. Ask at Bodycraft or Kent if they supply any 🤔 other than that looking forward to the next installment 👍
By the way im sure u know The fords family in london Oh i forgot their names!!! Ohhh hehe It gotten back to me(as i knocked on me head to recalubrate) The Harry's One of them is redeveloping the originals engines on these mk2s and mk2s Their father was a brill rally driver

Marcus, check out Yorkshire car restoration for some tips on repairing body panels?

Dolly and hammer is a skill but the more you do it the better you'll be
Marcus could use lead to sort the rear quarter problem
Marcus! Get a valance panel & use 3m panel bond... as strong as welding, mate 😉 Cheers. Leigh.
Thanks for the advice mate! 👍 A valence panel would be a waste on her. 😀
@@marcushayesford Na, mate!!
Why not buy a bottom repair panel and cut out the parts that you need to weld in. It would be the easier way, and at least the shapes will be right
Why not use copper wire and solder it all ??
Ayy up Marcus and cat, great vlog as always,Heidi coming on nicely do t rush the car it will be a belter when finished
We’ll have to wait and see how she turns out mate. One thing is for sure, there will be plenty of people out there that won’t like her. 👍

I hope the sticker wasn’t the cause of your breakdown! My stickers usually make your car run better AND give you at least 10 extra BHP! 😀

The weld heat is going to burn the pain whatever
mk2 ford escort restoration
Brillllllll
👍
change the back panel, it's faster, and it won't be good to patch on top of rust, it's just a waste of paint work because it rusts quickly again
Thanks for the advice! 👍 I have decided I'm defo not replacing the rear panel though.
By the way im sure u know

The Harry's

Can you take it to a professional panel beater so they can repair it and spray it?
honestly a couple of hours patching that door will save hours of paint in the future
It’s all ‘welded’ up solid now mate. . . . . . with fibreglass filler!! 😀😀😀
I’d imagine the repairs where done with lead welding rather then gas or mig
Maybe?? 🤔
Must of had vynal roof at some point back in 80s 90s the escort were always full of rust
I actually got some details about 'Heidi's past in the comments of this video. She did indeed have a vinyl roof before. 👍
Need shrinking hammer
