  • If you really think about it, the 10 Commandments are really just a self-policing type suggestion. At least, that's what Suzy Eddie Izzard reckons!

    Stripped is back-to-basics stand-up from Suzy Eddie Izzard, and is a continuation of her style of comedy, full of "stream-of-conscious banter and predilection for nonsensical detours and frequent tangents." Recorded live at the Lyric Theatre.

    Come on. I don't understand these comments. He is still the great guy with great and unique humour, and in the context of the rest of the show (see the other clips) this is a very nice rounding up of the set. The ending is a unique but nice theatrical touch from him. And of course his ramblings were a bit more lively back in the day, but his humour is still the same quick witted stuff that he did.

      @@paintsilj Trans women are women, and because of that it makes sense that they should have the same opportunities as any other woman. Women-only panels and shortlists exist to try and redress the gender inequality that all women - trans women included - face every day.
      Panels and shortlists are stronger when they recognise and represent women from a wide range of backgrounds. This includes trans women, who have very little visible representation in positions of power and who can bring different experiences and perspectives to the table.
      From Stonewall - the truth about trans.
      From my perspective as a woman it has long since annoyed me that my sexual availability has been positioned before my name, as in Miss, Ms, Mrs, so I welcome change, I welcome inclusivity, I welcome people who seek only to cause less suffering, and there's nowt wrong with that.

      I get that this is hard for you, the question of why it's difficult for you is something else. Eddies Izzard is gender fluid and this doesn't really affect you other than asking you to think about gender. The term 'transvestitite' is a transphobic term because it's not about clothes and dressing up, it's about attitude and identity.
      There are actually bigger issues in the world than pissing your pants because someone does not wish to be defined by pretty toxic social norms, let it go. Let Eddie Izzard bring his fantastic wit, courage and insight to our political stage, it can only be of benefit and enlightenment.

    • @catherinehoy5548
      @catherinehoy5548 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Real Aiglon When did gender fluid become a thing?
      It gained wider use in the 1990s among political activists, especially Riki Anne Wilchins. Wilchins used the term in a 1995 essay published in the first issue of In Your Face to describe anyone who is gender nonconforming, and identified as genderqueer in their 1997 autobiography.
      I admit I too find it a challenge to always know the correct term, yet I also always try to be kind to others.

    • @catherinehoy5548
      @catherinehoy5548 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Real Aiglon Izzard, who said she has been “promoted to she”, explained: “I prefer she/her, don’t mind he/him, and I’m going to be relaxed about it. It’s not the time for fighting each other on this."
      I made an honest mistake, sorry about that.

    • @catherinehoy5548
      @catherinehoy5548 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Real Aiglon Language is constantly evolving, and the time, place, context and who you’re talking to changes. Transvestite is a word that has fallen out of favour, because so-called “transvestism” was seen as a medical disorder, cross-dresser is now a much more accepted term.

      This is a very brave format of stand up comedy. The topics, perhaps, are a tiny bit pedestrian, but the way Eddie finds his ways around them, the energy and the sort of poetic absurdity of it all is all quite noteworthy. When it works.
