    Great video. One quick note. You plugged the cap in the A2-E2-G port. I think all these are input signals. You need to put the cap across +v/ground. For example, in the out4/out5 output ports on the controller or any of the open output ports on your receiver.

      @maciekkormicki9298 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering and Ali is correct. The Capacitor needs to be plugged in into a port which is labeled + and -

    • @EugeneZhukov
      @EugeneZhukov ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maciekkormicki9298 , actually, here is what's said in their own user manual: "The capacitor can be plugged onto any one of the free input or output sockets of the gyro or the receiver."

      @@EugeneZhukovThe manual is wrong. It can be only plugged into OUT1 through OUT5 (perhaps that is what they meant). Capacitor is supposed to store charge. Capacitor needs to be connected to + and -, so it can get charged. Note that capacitor has only two wires. That is because it needs to be connected to power and ground. The other Gyro ports have 3 different signals per port. The other 3 ports have no ground and no power, since the ground and power are provided from OUT1 through OUT5. Let's say you connected capacitor to port labeled A-E-R which is for Aileron, Elevator, Rudder. Gyro would generate pulses on this 3 pins, and these 3 pins are configured as outputs (outputs to servos). If they are outputs how would they get voltage (charge) from capacitor. Also you would have the same voltage going to both capacitor wires, and the capacitor would not get charged.

      @@maciekkormicki9298, I add one more capacitor to the receiver too. Anyways, after 2 years and multiple attempts to get it working (both A3S3 and A3S4) on several plane models, I decided to replace this brand's gyros from all my planes - read my comment below. Currently, I'm using several others with no problem (for instance, Aura 8 by Potenza), and I am planning to test more serious systems, such as MATEK Flight Controllers. HobbyEagle is my worst-ever experience among gyros.

    Great video, but we need flapperons, so two aileron inputs are needed. This can be resolved by using two units, “side by side”, I run the elevator and the left aileron on the “left gyro”, and the rudder and right aileron on the “right gyro”. Works like a charm. I’m using the A3V2, so price wise, it’s about the same as one A3 Super3. With this setup, I have to adjust the gain pots identically, so two A3 Super 3’s would be sweet. I use y harness’s for the mode and gain control.

      Can't you split the output A1 and A2 to A1 and A2 on your receiver, that should give you thr ability to use flaparon without use two gyros

      Are you using SBUS connection (using just one lead), or connecting it the normal way (like I show in the video? If you are connecting the normal way, remember this Futaba receiver has 4 modes, the default has the 8th channel set up for SBUS, so if your mode lead is plugged into it, it wont work conventially unless you change the receiver to mode 1, you have to change that manually. Read this manual to do it usermanual.wiki/Futaba/R3008SB-24G

    Having multiple troubles with the previous version (A3S3) I still decided to get a chance to A3S4. Unfortunately, it's all the same: after 15 minutes of the flight, the plane started flying like a drunk, slowly yawing, delaying its reaction to my commands, and even getting stuck in some position totally ignoring the commands. I succeed to land it and found that the reaction of the sensor in ANGLE, NORMAL, and LEVEL modes are totally opposite, while they were equal in before.
    Actually, I had absolutely the same issues with the previous version of this gyro. I have two HobbyEagle A3 Super 3 gyros installed in two different RC plane models: Conscendo Evolution (1.6m wingspan, 3S 2200 LiPo) and VolantexRC Ranger 2000 (2m wingspan, 4S 5200 LiPo). Both planes got practically the same types of issues: everything works fine first 10-15 minutes of the flight, but then the behavior of the plane becomes weird. The plane starts flying like a drunk, slowly yawing, delaying its reaction to my commands, and even getting stuck in some position totally ignoring the commands. Once Conscendo abruptly pitched down to the ground like a kamikaze. Another time it stalled ignoring any commands. Furthermore, in one case when Volantex fell down due to such weird yawing, I found ailerons getting stuck in their up/down limits, and I could turn them back to the neutral position only after switching gyro modes a few times.
    Analyzing all these cases I became suspicious concerning the level of power, thinking this weird behavior starts when there is a lack of power. So I made a test flying Volantex at minimal motor speed with flaps down trying to spend power very slowly. But within 15 minutes of the flight, the plane started yawing again. It was very hard to control the plane while landing and it almost crashed. When I checked the battery, it had 4V on each cell (77% of power). Also, I remember when I got the same issues after 10 min of the flight, after changing to the fully charged battery.
    Today's flight with A3S4 confirmed all the issues I got before: 15 min of flight, 68% of the battery, gyro sensor lost its orientation.
    As a result, I'm planning to return this unit and look for a better gyro because I've been tired of spending weeks repairing my planes after every "strange" landing because of this gyro's bugs.

    Greetings James. My sincere congratulations for your well done, very easy to follow video. What I found most useful in programming my first A3S3 was your recommendations. Others just show what various tabs do and that's nice, but what you do is to make a suggestion which is what I was specifically looking for - and I found it in your video. Only one question, I don't recall you ever commenting about RR, what it does and whether you advise turning it on or not? In view of the fact that you didn't bother to comment about it, I assume that means "Don't worry about it? But, based on the description in the manual I'm not sure what your advice would be. Again many thanks for your very effective video. Thanks for taking your time to do it and thanks to Motion RC for making it possible.

      Oops, on my second (or was it my third viewing) I just caught when in the Wiring Setup section when connecting the servo wires to the Stabilizer, he said "the positive is always up." Can't be since the positive wire is in the middle. He wanted to say the Signal side (yellow wire in this case) is always up, as the symbols on the Stabilizer dictate. That is actually what he did.

    Where does the gyro get its -ve from? Is it from the mode select port? As it can’t be from the e/a/r port as it’s a 3 into 1 so can only be +ve. Guessing that means it needs to have the mode port active so can’t be used with a 4 channel receiver

The gyro shows channels AER working properly but it's not recognizing the other channels for mode or gain for some reason? Im wondering if it's because the R9 RX operates on channels 17-32 and thr gyro doesn't know they're there but not sure? Any insight is appreciated. I'm going to update the firmware on the gyro now but it's brand new and said v2 on the box so didn't think it would be necessary right away?

      I have never used an IX-12 before, but basically whatever channel on your receiver that you plug the mode lead into, go into your channel assignment page and assign whatever switch you want to use to that channel. So if you have the mode plugged into AUX1 like I have in this video, then in your transmitter assign the AUX 1 channel to say switch H or G etc...whatever switch you have that is 3 channel

      Question 1 was answered in the video. The Gyro is between the Planes servos and the RX, so you are plugging the servos in the gyro and then out from the gyro into the RX. #2 - it shouldn't matter which you plug in first, the software can make it correct. Then for #3, same as #1 since the control box is part of the plane, then the leads coming out of the control box go into the gyro, then out from the gyro into the RX

    Hey. Great video but when I put it in “trainer” mode and I move the any surface, they flicker or twitch. Does anyone know what may be wrong? I just can’t imagine that to be any kind of normal.

      Read my comment above. I tested two A3S3 and one A3S4. All of them have the same set of issues, and I wouldn't recommend this gyro at all.

    Is it possible to have trainer and auto level mode both turned on by one flick of a switch?

    Nice Video. I Need help. Is there a A3 Controller for Helicopters?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is not. You would want a flybarless controller for a Heli like the Tarot on our website: www.motionrc.com/products/tarot-zyxs2-3-axis-flight-controller

    Are you still able to fly the plane normally in autolevel mode?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, the auto level only kicks in when you release the sticks. So why you are turning, climbing or doing aerobatics, it would be doing anything. But if you get disorientated then release the sticks and she'll fly straight and true

    I have flaps --- so how do I set the position switch with a 6 chan rec?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This gyro doesn't involve flaps at all, flaps will be determined by whatever protocol (brand of receiver/transmitter) you are using

    Where are you plugging in your BEC from plane into?

    • @olinsrc3841
      @olinsrc3841 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just realized that there are a few open ports on the blue control box on my freewing f-22 to plug the BEC into. I originally had the BEC on one of my aux channels on receiver but it was using up one of my channels for nothing. So now I have that open aux channel for my mode switch on my hobby eagle a3 super3 gyro. I only have a 7 channel receiver so you have to choose the channels wisely.
