    Love love love this yarn. Here's the secret: ditch instructions on the back of label. Use a 6.0 (J) crochet hook, chain only two in the corners (instead of three), and leave out the chain one between clusters. This way you will always have yarn of each color left over at the end of your round. Then instead of stressing, simply slip stitch along top until you get to the next start of a cluster where your new color lines up. Works every time without fail and you can't tell. The key is to be flexible and this yarn will make beautiful granny squares for everyone!

    Thanks for the demo. Now, I know that I do not want it. Yes, that would drive me nuts !!! As much as I don’t like weaving in tails…I would rather do my own changing of colors. You did a great demo !!!

    Thank you so much for doing an in debt instruction and demo on this yarn! I just started crocheting about 2 weeks ago and love this yarn! My squares have looked a little wonky and watching you do this has helped me figure out what I was doing wrong! ❤

    Thanks your instructions are really good and precise for beginners or us pattern reading challenged! Learned crocheting as a kid without all the videos and there was no one to teach how to read a pattern like there is now. My mom was not the crafty type. These kind of instructions really help. Thank you. Also love the granny square that you made with the flower can’t wait to try it.

    Thank you for doing a tutorial on these. I think I saw the same short you did on these and wondered. I haven't crocheted for a long time, nor at that size of hook, but always struggled with color change. Maybe might try these, I got excited when you showed the one with the black edge. My great grandmother made afghans with smaller granny squares with bright colors and black. I think I'll have to practice with some scrap yarn, maybe after you make a few you get used to the size. Would love to see anything made out of these except that weird vest.

      LOL! That vest is shapeless and odd, maybe it looks better in real life? (: I hope you do try crocheting again, it is a craft atet never really leaves my psyche. Always thinking about it or actually making something. I only have two works in progress right now, which is very good! LOL!! TYSM!

    I am fascinated watching you crochet so fast. I do a little knitting but never could get a handle on crochet. Maybe one day I'll try again. I thought the square came out really cute and when you put them all together you probably won't notice the little color changes. I have a picture of my oldest daughter sitting in a rocking chair at my grandma's house. She's holding a little pillow that my grandmother made out of granny squares. If I find that picture again I'll see if she has a granny square blanket on the back of the rocking chair or a different type of knitting. I can't remember now but I do remember the granny square pillow. (my oldest daughter has kids of her own now so super old photo!)

    For me, I think this would be very frustrating to never know if your stitches were correct until you reach the end of each row. I really enjoyed your demo and I won’t whine to myself about tucking in the tails anymore. I haven’t crocheted in at least 25 years and now my 23-year-old grandson has requested I make him a granny square hat. I have been watching TH-cam videos to refresh myself and when I came across yours, I was absolutely delighted because I’m one of your dedicated card making fans.🌸🦋. I plan to watch your next video where you make more squares and join them with black yarn. i’m glad my interest in crocheting is being renewed and I hope to get some yarn soon. Thanks, Vianney, for all you do.

    Great job!!! I've never done color change....only with headbands and I used one of those looms so it's kind of cheating but it worked. I have only made one granny square in my life and it was variegated yarn so there was no actual changing of color and that is probably what I would do before trying a project like this. I also want to make a cool cardigan or wrap/poncho with granny squares, so retro! This yarn seems economical and they are pretty. Thank you!!! Happy New Year!

    Whoever wrote this, their tension was different to those of us who are tight crocheters. It's interesting to see how this works, but you can do different designs that work better with it- even just do a blanket with it and not worry about the squares. Great work, thanks for sharing❤

    I think this yarn would make an interesting granny rectangle blanket. The colors would definitely not line up… but that's the point.

    • @VianneyCreates
      @VianneyCreates  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure what you mean about the colors lining up...like continue the squares...never ending? Maybe that's what you mean, so not individual squares for the blanket but just keep going and going?

    • @DTPIIXART
      @DTPIIXART 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VianneyCreates Basically start a granny rectangle pattern (granny rectangles are like granny squares, except in rectangle shape) and work the pattern as is, letting the colors lay where they fall for a variegated appearance. Hope that makes better sense.

    I'd love for you to do a follow-up after working through several skeins.
    Unsolicited advice: I'd probably join with that lavender in the middle so the last change back to the lavender world work in easier if you have a half stitch early change it wouldn't be noticeable.
    Red Heart recently released a speckle yarn line. Wonder if that pink is trying to mimic the new line.
    Curious if there were any knots/factory joins?
    Last Unsolicited advice: You could always do a corner to corner, alternating between the colorways if the tension issues zap the joy.

    I took the plunge and bought 6 of three colors. I hate the chain one in between clusters so I used a 6mm and skipped the chain 1. Did the chain 2 in the corners and yes, it’s a bit fiddly but I have had success with my squares. Sometimes I need to adjust but overall I’m into it. Yarnspirations is the owner of Red Heart (and also Caron and everything that has Yarnspirations on the label) that is why it was only available on their website to begin with. I have seen tons of videos on this yarn I started seeing them in early December last year. All of the color names start with the color that the last round is for example Soft white Pink Punch and White Frigid both end in white. Also if you look at the picture of the square on the label where the red heart is you can see how the colors are supposed to come out that way you don’t have to try to guess the order.

      My slight issue was at times too much left over and other times too little. I got the hang of it after this square and the I size hook is appropriate. My square is about 6.5" instead of 6. I cannot figure this out for the life of me! I tried messing with my hook size, the length of the tail, my tension, all of it! I've ended up sizing down to a 4.5mm hook and then slip stitching to a corner until the next color comes up. A good concept but way too difficult and fussy for me.

    • @VianneyCreates
      @VianneyCreates  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm...sounds like you have way extra yarn at the end of the round if you're slip stitching to run it out. You need a larger hook size, that would use the yarn up faster, so you won't have so much left (smaller size makes it worse). I used the I size (5.5) that they recommend and it works pretty well. I have another video coming out today and you can see the squares I made...all with the I hook. I'm sorry you're having such issues.
