- John Deere 9900 forage harvester chopping hay in central New York. This machine is powered by a 956hp engine. It was made in 2022 and is a 50th anniversary of John Deere self propelled forage harvesters model. Notice the sticker on the back panel. This forage harvester also has dual wheels to better float over soft ground.

I am Amazed how the equipment performs. The amount of work it does. The volumn is unbelievable. Later.
Yes it is very impressive to watch. This is the biggest forage harvester John Deere makes. Thanks for watching!
It's very great tractor. It's have 956 hp and 12 cylinder. Keep it up 👍👍👍
It sure is! Thanks for watching!
It's not a tractor, it's a forage harvester ! Big difference !
@@jamesbarbour8400 ok bro thanks
That big chopper for that crop is like pulling a 3 bottom plow with a big 4 wheel drive.
I don’t think farms would do very well if they bought new machines in a drought to better match the poor crop conditions.

I certainly agree with that.
Andy drives a mean chopper
It is not Andy I believe it is his uncle because that is not Andy’s chopper
Correct, this is Andy's uncles farm.
The Hourigans are chompin the alfalfa ....sounds dry it's making the chopper moan🍺🍺🍺🍺
That’s Andy?
A Beast for sure 😊
Nothin sounds finer than a forage harvester
Is this the chopper that burned down last year? Such a nice chopper!
This is the replacement to that chopper.
@@tractorchasers Oh ok wow! Thanks!
Didn’t know you guys started a TH-cam channel
Yup! All the cool kids have one 😁
Looks to be Hourigan Dairy
I think that's Andy's uncle as they lost their chopper in 1st cutting...
How did they end up with those lumps in the windows? That’s making me frustrated
I work with that crew, one of the mergers wasnt working like it should, plus training a new guy.
@@ryanpriest3084 would’ve thought Andy would’ve had bad words to say about it.
@ Latham Industries its Andy's uncles operation, the one he talks about alot in his videos.
What's the fuel consumption per hour?
A those big choppers take alot. 10 plus an hour
10 isn't close, probably closer to 40. A 15 year old 575 hp uses 22 per hour
58 gallons an hour is about max, my buddy ran one
Hopefully they didn't put there little 13.6 in that thing to. Seems like they try to put it in all there machines. And go against the 15 litre Cummins.
Liehbehr v12 in that machine 💪
24.2 liters of f**k your Cummins.....
Actually with the technology that can produce more hp then a Cummins with a lot less fuel consumption same as the case 12.9 L and a 700 hp tractor and it has helped out just fine
@@dwaynefehr4317 That's where I would disagree. The 620 quad tracks don't hold out just fine. They take out engines. May hold out for 4000 hours but let's see if it gets to 8-10 thousand hours. Very unlikely. Yes technology has definitely come along way but still to small of a block for that horsepower.
Didn't know Americans did much grass silage. Interesting to see trucks in the field, that wouldn't work here in Wales.
It’s alfalfa silage
Seems like it would be a better design if it could just have a trailer in tow?
Realize how many times you'd have to get out and unhook said trailer.
@@briscoesjug1026 with the tech' available these days, you wouldn't have to get out at all. Just have a hydraulic PUH and a rear view camera and you're good to go.
On the other hand, with a machine of this insane capacity, if it was towing a trailer, there would be an awful lot of stops for dropping off the full trailers and picking up an empty new one. With the system shown in the video, the chopper can keep going without interruption, with the very large capacity of those lorry dump bodies. Less stopping and hence less wasted time. Very important from the point of view of cost/benefit analysis - that forager probably costs close to a Million Dollars and the pickup header an additional cost on top of that. Need to keep that thing running to the max in order to justify that kind of outlay, moneywise. Would need some serious acreage to cover for the same reason - contract work would be its forte wirhout question.
