    40 years ago, we worked twice as hard. Today's farmer works twice as smart. What a neat video. That 12 row chopper is a little faster than our old 2 row pull type. I just can't get over the size of the equipment. Thanks for sharing.

      It's not that farmers were not smart 40 years ago, we didn't have the technology or the equipment that is available today. I also do not know of any small farmers that could even begin to afford most any of the equipment in this video. I know that this is a very large farm and this large machinery is a must, but most people who see this video think that all farmers are mega rich which is certainly not true.It all comes down to the farmers are not being compensated fairly for their product. Never have been, probably never will.

    I like the John Deere 9900i, but since I saw the Claas 990, so many people say that the Claas are much better with the redesign and, above all, the fuel consumption is much better. It's hard to tell, but Class combines always have better fuel consumption. Contrary to what I read everywhere, it is difficult with farmers because they work many days and hours a year and receive very little. These machines are very expensive, but also the suffering of all farmers all over the world. I know it, I have worked in this too. Nice video, greetings from Slovakia.

    Every time I see this I'm amazed by the efficiency. How much more yield in terms of dairy production do they get compared to grass fed? I'll bet it's at least five times as much. But there's a cost. Grain fed dairy and beef has excessive Omega 6 fatty acids and isn't as good nutrionally as grass fed. Also it's probably GMO corn and who knows what they're adding to the silage mix.

WHERE do they put all those tyres when they 'unsheet' those piles to use them, I've never seen a video of them stacked or heaped up, - they must do something with them before they need them again. @@farmhandmike Mike. It would be great to see. When I go to visit my Dad and we watch a movie together, there’s times when we always joke about this sort of thing and the joke never wears out for us. For example, with a western, when some cowboys are riding through a desert and there’s piano music in the movie, one of us would say, “Imagine the cowboys ride past a man playing a piano in the desert.” Or, with orchestra music in the movie, one of us would say, “Imagine the cowboys riding past an orchestra in the desert with somebody conducting.” I love your videos. The overhead shots from your drone a lovely. That video with the plane flying low, I wonder what that pilot was trying to prove. I think, by law, it’s illegal for a pilot to do that. I’m from England so I’m sure that crazy flying would be illegal in the US unless somebody was crop dusting. That crazy pilot could causing somebody with a weak heart to have a heart attack doing that, mostly if he aims to fly directly over a farmer where the farmer fears the plane will crash into him/her.

    • @Foozefighter

      its a specific type of corn that is planted, it does not create the cob, its only used as silage feed

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Corn silage is a large part of a dairy cows diet. The entire plant is chopped including the ear and cob. This is done while the plant is mature but still green with some moisture in it for the best feed value. Corn that is harvested with a combine is done after the plant and the grain is much drier. That is done for the grain only and the rest of the plant is left on the ground for organic matter or some farms will bale it up and use it for bedding.

    Your question about the loading I would say is loaded, perfectionists, old grumpy farmers or those struggling with feed stores would probably be 😮😱😱😱.
    Operators = 🧐🫤 it was ok but I could better
    Arable farmers = Why would anyone want to mess around with live/deadstock.
    Dairy farmer = meh I wonder what they're milking at, count, system they're using, growth rates and breed are?
    Customers = as long as the losses aren't ridiculous, does not hold things up, cost extra and its all done before the next rain go for it.
    Me = nice kit, wouldn't mind a go but I'm so glad I don't have the repayments or have to worry about the insurance, payroll, depreciation ormaintenance as well as the next move to the next customer.
