    I live in a rural place that doesn't have home mail delivery for most of the area. I built a Diy ebike for my daily mail runs to the PO box, where I pick up for myself and my folks, about a 14 mile round trip. I built mine on a 29" mtb, with a 2000w rear hub and a 20ah 72v battery, added a rear rack and mounted a "milk crate" to the rack, wireless turn signal/brake light unit and headlight, and I was set. Fastest speed I have clocked with fully charged battery and perfect conditions was 51mph, but average top speed is around 45mph (I usually cruise at 30mph as that seems to be the best balance between being fast enough and still getting good range)

      I like your bike, that seems like a good way to go - DD hub on 72V with the 29er wheels. I've done the milk crate before too! I've also strapped a 12 gallon plastic storage tote to a rear rack on my Aventon Sinch, it was quite the sight,.

    Bike lanes are almost non existent here in Wisconsin. Some people don't know what to do when they encounter an ebike. I use mine for quick runs to Walmart for orange juice and milk. I ride a recumbent so there was room to wire tie a large backpack to the rear of the seat frame. It will even hold a six pack. I use the car to haul bigger items such as dog food and charcoal for the Weber grill.

      James, "some people dont know what to do when they encounter an ebike" - LOL!! 100% true. I will be sitting at a red light, and have cars (who are going the other way with a green) slam on their brakes and wait for me to go, almost get rear ended by someone behind them, etc happens all the time. Lots of people seem to think when you see an ebike you should slam on the brakes; I think they are confusing that with the laws where you need to stop for people crossing a crosswalk. Also i've noticed Many people under estimate how fast ebikes can move, and will pull out in front of your ebike. They just see its a bike, assume all bicycles travel at 5mph, pull their car out in front of you.

      @@EBikeBuilder_ Very true! They underestimate the speed at which ebikes can travel. I get cut off all the time.

    Burritos are always a good reason for a run into town. I built a "commuter ebike" from a used schwinn mountain bike. The bike was used by a college kid as a commuter already. I swapped the forks and brakes, added a 72v 45a 2000 watt rear hub kit and a suspension post and comfortable seat. It came with an Ibera rack and panniers and I've made quite a few runs to the grocery store with my kids on their ebikes. Can't bring home a pizza with my setup, but everything else is good to go.

      your bike sounds cool! that's my kinda bike, 72V is when the Fun has Begun. I put a suspension post on my bike as well, I think thats the #1 upgrade to do.When I got mine I was like oh man why didn't I get this 2 years ago.

    Roads look pretty good, lol. You're not the only one who rides an ebike on an empty stomach 🤣🤣

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_  ปีที่แล้ว

      yea the roads weren't bad. On that particular road sometimes people go like 50 in a 35, there's no one looking for bikes, people driving around staring at their phones and stuff. No one will wait for a bike they typically tear right past you 1ft away if thats what it takes. On my other bike that goes faster i'll go in the road the whole way.

    I ride my e-bike pretty much any day for fun, ride to work and general transportation. Beside may be a non-electrical bike a.k.a. bicycle this is pretty much as cheap and as fast as personal transportation can get. I can reach pretty much any end of the city in less then an hour which is pretty identical to what public transportation would take. E-bikes FTW....

      I agree e-bikes are a very efficient and affordable method of transportation! Especially in the city where it can be crowded with cars and traffic. 👍👍

    I just use my e-bikes for fun and my csr for everything else I sometimes visit my family and friends on my bikes plus I don't ride my bikes in bad weather

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_  ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm usually riding my bikes for fun too. but it's great any time you can go on the bike to grab something quick, or drop something off etc. Not riding in bad weather is a good call though, i got my 52V battery wet and i need to replace the bms.

    In the cold weather hows the battery charged? How much is the range per single charge?

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      in general you want to charge the battery when its a comfortable temperature, not extremely cold or hot. So i bring the battery inside after a ride in the winter, let it rest for a while, then charge it up at room temperature. The range of the battery will depend on the capacity, that is the watt hours or amp hours of the battery. You can estimate the range roughly by a calculation like this.. if you are using a 500w ebike, with a 48v battery, 500w / 48v = 10 amps (ohms law). So it is using 10 amps of current. If you have a 10 amp hour battery, that means you could run that 500w motor draining 10 amps from the battery for 1 hour. Hopefully that makes sense

    Any issues with chains? my keeps skipping gears

    • @devildogcody
      @devildogcody ปีที่แล้ว

      if you are skipping gears, it means your rear derailleur isn't set correctly...you can find quite a few videos on YT on how to properly set one

    • @EBikeBuilder_
      @EBikeBuilder_  ปีที่แล้ว

      its probably the indexing on the derailleur, you can adjust it with the barrel adjuster
