    Thought maybe I could groom my two new golden rescues, but after watching this, there's no way. A good groomer is worth every penny! I will now treasure our groomer as I had no idea the extent of what is involved. Thank you.

    I looked into getting a Cocker Spaniel, but the grooming issues with that breed are a little more than I think I could do. But the grooming on this big gal, I think I could handle this. Thank you for showing us newbies how it's done. She looked gorgeous after her trim!

    Thankyou for that video, you made it look very achievable. I live in New Zealand and have a 19month retriever. Our first dog so need all the help we can get!! I will defiantly buy some thinning shears and start to tidy my boy bit by bit. Might need to buy a good solid table so he is at eye level. Grooming costs a lot of money here so learning these skills will help keep the costs down. Thankyou and hope things are getting back to normal for you over there. We are going thru a interesting time at the moment with covid but just got to keep on going and keep smiling. Take care and stay safe :)))

    We’ve have a Golden(our third) and I groom her myself. It’s work, but I love it. I try to stay ahead of the mats by brushing her 2 or 3 times a week. My son referred to those “pants” as her furry boxers! I really need to get some clippers. It would make the job so much easier!

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi thanks for watching. That’s cute… furry boxers. Yes the clippers would help with the feet especially. Thinning shears also help a lot. The link is attached for the shears we used on our video. ❤️🐶❤️

      @FurryFriendsZone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for watching! haha that is so cute you get your wheaten to watch our videos :) It is a great idea to start trying to get him used to grooming when he is young. Wheatens definitely have a lot of energy but spreading out the steps of the grooming especially if you are doing it at home will make it less stressful for him (and you!). If you ever have any specific questions please let us know and we are happy to help!

    It was so nice to watch a groomer that is actually kind to the pup being groomed!! My Golden hair on top of his head is getting pretty long! Would I use clippers or thinning shears in this area? Thank you for this informative video!!

      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Caroline thanks so much for commenting and watching. As a groomer my clients dogs are like my own and I love them dearly! I would probably get thinning shears because you want the trimming to look as natural as possible and thinning shears will do that. You can also use them to thin out other areas as well. If you have any further questions please let me know I’m happy to help.

I happen to have a golden just like Ivy so am trying to get the right tools so that I can finally get this figured out. Could you please give a link for the trimming scissors on Amazon you were using, not the thinning shears but the actual scissors you were using... if you could please do that, I might just give my poor golden a respectable grooming session. LOL Thank you again!

    Great video. I have a golden retriever and her pants area gets long in-between her grooming. Now I know how to trim them. She also does what you said in the beginning. She is heavy....100lbs . We are working on that. Our groomer says she has a hard time with her because she is always wanting to sit or stand. She also mentioned having to charge me quite a bit more since she has to have extra help to groom her. I figure if I can do all the the trimming/grooming, maybe she can just do the bath, dry and nail trim and maybe it won't be so costly?

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for watching. It can get costly and your golden is a bigger size which makes the cost higher of course. If you have the right tools grooming at home is worth a shot. Putting he/she on a table will help too so grooming is at your level ❤️🐶❤️

    Can you recommend what to buy for trimming pads of feet? And any tips to keep the job semi-clean at home? lol

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Natasha! Thanks for watching and commenting. I know isn't Ivy just such a sweetheart :) I would recommend that you could get a small clipper that has a 5 in 1 blade so you can adjust the length as needed. These clippers are usually smaller and easier to manage. I don’t suggest using shears on the pads because you could cut them. Trimming between the toes you need shears but I suggest clippers for the between pads. Also when you get a smaller clipper with an adjustable blade they usually are more responsibly priced. If you have any other questions please let us know!

Not sure if you have a video covering tools and equipment for the non-pro

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! Thanks for watching and for your questions. You would need shears (scissors) to trim in between the feet. If you want a more natural look for the feathering I would also suggest using thinning shears. You will need a clipper to trim inside the pads of the feet. Also a slicker brush and if you have a good quality dryer that helps a lot to loosen the undercoat when brushing out your dog. If you have any other questions please let us know!

    My Golden Retriever, Jasper is 6 months old, can I use this shampoo on him? Or can you suggest a good, sensitive skin shampoo for puppies? I had 2 Great Pyrenees before Jasper, Alex had sensitive skin and Annabelle did not. They were a job to groom because of the amount of fur but they loved to be bathed and groomed which made the job easier. I started early with them, knowing they would be extremely big and strong. They both passed away last year, Jan 2021 and June 2021, they were 11 and 11 1/2 years old. It’s sad that giants don’t live as long as other breeds, I seriously miss them, but Jasper is an amazingly smart pup, I love him so much! I never saw this video until yesterday, I want to make sure I’m grooming my Golden properly. I know all dog breeds are different, some more sensitive than others. Are Goldens more sensitive than Great Pyrenees? Thank you for your advice!

    • @FurryFriendsZone
      @FurryFriendsZone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kelly thanks so much for watching. I am so sorry for your loss of your pups. It is truly one of the most difficult losses!🥰
      Yes this shampoo would be fine for your puppy most shampoos will say right on the bottle if they are ok for young ones. This one is and it’s also helps with deshedding. I have used it for years and honestly maybe have had a handful of dogs that need a more
      Gentle shampoo. If you find that Jasper seems to grow into sensitive skin then try a different one. Both those breeds would be treated the same as far as bathing. I find there can be sensitive skin in all breeds. Goldens tend to get hot spots a lot but they swim a lot so that contributes to it.
      I hope this helps and let me know if you need further help.🥰🐶
