    Awesome job! So many people take WAY too much hair off and it makes the dog's head look ridiculous because they're left with these little scarecrow ears and a massive head. This trim is just right!

    I’d love to see the technique you use for holding the dog’s head still while trimming its right ear. If you’re right handed, using your right hand to hold the dog’s head still isn’t going to work. Thanks!

    Amy - can you do a video on thinning/blending from the ears down into the neck/ruff? You showed me how in person years ago, but I still struggle over taking too little or too much out, especially in front from throat down to point of shoulders.

    Thank you for this informative video! Was that a coarse stripping knife you used? I bought a fine one, but wondering if I should get a medium or coarse for my Golden’s ears. The fine one takes off very little hair.

    Am I supposed to cut any of the hair inside the ear out? My baby girl gets curly hair under her ear canal because of what I assume is from her earwax but it never knots but also never uncurls.

    • @AmySuzanneComer
      @AmySuzanneComer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should use your thinning shears and light take the hair out inside the ear. Do a little at a time until you achieve the look you desire.

  • @friesianhorsecowgirl
    @friesianhorsecowgirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So would this ear be what you would do in a show? Or just maintenance between shows? I am a pet groomer, but enjoy trying to show groom my golden clients. I definitely take off more than this, but partly that is because of the infrequent grooming most of my golden clients do. Most only coming 3-4 times per year or less. I actually shave out the inside of the ears with a 10 since a couple suffer from frequent ear infections. And the ones who come with big mats behind the ears get a lot of hair thinned out to avoid that!

    • @AmySuzanneComer
      @AmySuzanneComer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is how I trim mostly for show. You want it to look natural and “uncut” as much as possible. For pets that come in less often, I do the same as you. Hope this was helpful.

    • @KKtedeum
      @KKtedeum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmySuzanneComer sometimes I see dogs winning who have a lot more taken out of the ears than you did. Is there any advantage to trimming more off the ears? Or does it not matter to the judges?

    • @AmySuzanneComer
      @AmySuzanneComer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just a matter of preference and interpretation.
