I’ve been searching for a video to teach me how to take care of our straight haired f1 labradoodles hair. I was so excited to find this one for 2 reasons 1 I think this will really help our big guy and 2 you groomed our little Lucy girl (cairn terrier) her whole life! I always knew you really cared about the dogs you took care of but watching you behind the scenes shows me just how much love you put into your work! Thank you for making this video😊
Oh my Goodness Shelley:) Lucy was such a pleasure to work with. Thank you for reaching out to me here and finding value in my Grooming videos. It is my pleasure to help pet owners provide quality care for their beloved pets at home❤️
YEP..SAME! Our golden boy is so beautiful already but seeing the potential after a good grooming is amazing..thank you. Also our golden has cooling issues and can surely benefit for your 'ventilation' techniques...only problem is that he has anxiety issues and no way that he would sit through us grooming him...possibly from a professional but not sure on that either. Does not like his tail messed with much either...
Finally a groomer who is not passive aggressive and focuses on the dogs, the opposite the marybath which most of us probably know. She should learn. Good job!
He looks so good! you're the first groomer I've seen on TH-cam who is so sweet and caring towards the pooch along the process. I saw no tugging and lots of kisses. Wish you were in my hometown! Thank you for all you do and share.
Your my favorite groomer. Your always so kind, patient, and gentle. I personally groom my own for 2 reasons, 1 is simply because i enjoy bonding with my pet but the other is due to me not trusting a groomer to be kind to my golden doodle. If i lived near you i would definitely contact you for my pets needs. Thank you for being so awesome! God Bless
Oh my goodness! I'm so happy I came across your video. I'm saving it! We are cutting costs as much as we can and I'm learning how to groom our golden retriever in the process. Thank you for explaining and being so thorough!
Really appreciate that you just handled him with care and love..and also you just kissed him being a groomer and you made him comfortable with you hats of to you mam👍👍👍👍
I seen Groomers on U-Tube shaved Dogs tht have undercoat, As a real grommer U should never shave any Dogs tht hve an undercoat @ all!!!!!!U did an amazing job on this beautiful Golden Retriever!!!!!!I like after U finish wth the Dogs U let them walk around!!!!!!
Fianally a grooming video grooming double coated dogs and not shaving or cutting their coat. This is just beautiful. I don't take my dog to a groomer for the reason that they would rather just shave them, that bath and brush them out. Or they want to use those furminator type combs, which cuts the coat. Those do NOT pull out the undercoat. I know, because I tried one on my Australian Shepherd. It did pull out and cut some of the undercoat, but it also cut the outer coat.
I’ve learned soo much about our Golden’s coat, she is almost 3 , never has been to a groomer so I’m beginning to trim her myself, thank you . Augie was so cooperative and a great model, so sweet
Someone asked for a Golden Retriever video, and you delivered! You nailed, smashed, and killed it! Oggie, was a trooper through the whole process. Well done!❤
What a great job! He is such a cutie patootie 🥰 you are so caring and gentle with these animals, I wish you lived in Ohio because you would be my baby’s groomer
FINALLY a groomer who doesn't shave every time a dog walks in. My golden boy will be home memorial day weekend and i found you just in time!!!! Thank you, for showing a thorough groom without shaving Auggie
I have a Sheepadoodle and fortunate that she doesn’t mind a bath. But your approach makes it a joy to take care of her coat. Your tips on products have made it so much easier to cut down on drying time. I actually love making her look and feel beautiful. Thank you so much 😊
How often do you recommend a full groom like this versus a regular bath, and how often should you bathe your golden? I've seen mixed information about it regarding bathing too often interfering with the oils of their natural coat and it's hard to tell what is good/bad info. Thanks in advance, such an informative video!
Mannnn.... he knew he was in for a treat... so patient... even some tailwagging... what a beautiful doggo! Great work, love your kindness and dedication
Since we have a beautiful, golden retriever, Dara, this is the first video we watched and we were hooked!!! All the products smell good and are very gentle on our dogs, and that's what we wanted!!
I loved the tutorial but I LOVEEEE the way you did his ears most😭❤️ Been trying to figure out how to do the ears right, and every tutorial so far looks like the retrievers have been given choppy layers on their ear!!! So great, keep up the great work🐶💞
So happy I found this! My husband and I are getting a Golden Retriever puppy next month and I want to try to keep grooming costs to a minimum so I can spoil him more with treats and toys.
Auggie is so sweet! My Golden Penny has twice that much hair! Lots of grooming and brushing at our house!! Thank you for grooming tips that I have not tried! 😊
I have been trying to find a video, like this, for over a year! Thank you so much for your guidance on how to properly groom a Golden Retriever. My Golden girl will be looking fresh, now.
This video is so good. I just found it tonight. We have a golden retriever and I needed tips how to groom him and this is great! Our boy doesn't stay as still but he is getting better at it. Thank you so much!! Your a awesome groomer
We are getting a Golden Retriever in autumn so this is so useful. My husbands sister is a dog groomer, but we still need to know how to care between the grooms. I love the teddy on the paw pad.
❤️ love this. I haven’t groomed in years. My nephew asked me to groom his golden retriever next week. So I am not as nervous now watching your video. Thank you so much.
I just found you. And so glad I did. Thank you so much. My service dog is now 10yo and I need to find a younger replacement. I hope it to be a golden. Preferably a confirmation golden because a dog bred to be a show dog should be less active by breeding nature. I will be training my pup myself and am now 72yo so I need a more laid back attitude.
Beautiful job! We just got a golden puppy not quite a month ago. Absolutely love the temperament our puppy has! He loves brushing, bathing, anything to do with water! Your tutorial on this was perfect!
This was an excellent video! I'm having trouble finding a groomer that knows how to properly groom my Golden. They all seem so ready to run the clippers over him.. Is there a secret to finding a groomer that knows how to do the scissor work like you do? How do you ask for this type of grooming? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and for your great video.
Thank you so much for your video. I’m a disabled Veteran & Falcon is my serve dog, she is a english golden retriever of 4yrs. My wife & I are grateful to NorthWest Battle Buddies who gave her to me. The shedding is the only downside. I was so encouraged by your video I decided to start bathing her myself with your process minus the pressure washer. I’m using tap water pressure with an attachment that adds the product to the water. I just started & going to see how well this will work. I’ve already invested $800, pressure washer little out of my price range. Question 1: At the top front of her front legs has a patch of under coat growing out. Looks ok when brushed, but later ends up being nappy. How do I trim this? Question 2: Her rear legs from top front, outside & 😊down to the last bend, then across the leg meeting with the pants. The undercoat is bushy & sticks out on the sides. How do I trim this? Question 3: Beside vinegar and water. What can I use to clean the dark hair on her genitalia?
This is the best tutorial of Golden grooming I've ever seen. Thank you so much for such a thorough, informative video. Augie is beautiful, before and after his groom :)
Thank you for doing this video and not speeding through everything! I could take my golden to a groomer, but I like the bonding we do while I groom her.
Wow you did an amazing job on him. I wish we lived close by so you can take care of my golden boy. It’s so hard to find a good groomer in Cali, everyone I have tried ends up messing up his coat. The last few years I have been doing it my self but it’s hard when you don’t have the set up you have. I’m going to try a your method best I can.
Thank you for this amazing instructional video. I’ve been unable to find a competent groomer for my golden. I’m going to give the groomer i to our video to watch which hopefully will help . If not I will start doing it myself
This is so educational! I was looking for something for a long GSD but this is just as equally informative. Now I know the 'V' shape for under belly trimming. I am not a professional but I do groom my own GSDs and your videos have taught me so much. Thank you and God Bless!
Augie is handsome. You could have made a mini Augie 😄 I just groomed all our babies & my husband asked if we should brush them out before hand. We also used cowboy magic & my wood floors have been slick for the last week. Amy, thank you. Double coats are so hard to get wet thru & thru & I will try brushing during bathing.
So glad to see you demo a proper deshed...watched another youtuber this morning that total gave wrong info on it...you are so helpful to people that are learning.....thks, Amy....

A very complete and caring step by step grooming lesson, thank you, I learned a lot. I cannot afford all that equipment or product, nor have the room for it in my apartment, but I learned a lot from you, things I certainly can do for my GR when grooming. I do have outside space and we always bath Honey Bee at home, but all the pre de-shedding and de-shedding during the shampoo process was very helpful. I dare not get the scissors out, I send her to the vet's groomers for that part but never have her bathed there. A wonderful tutorial. Thank you so much.
What a beautiful job you did with this Golden retriever! I would love to see grooming a curly Goldendoodle, we have a 12 months Goldendoodle and I love love your videos, I'm so encouraged to groom her myself. Thank you for sharing!
Really enjoyed the video. Auggie was such a good boy and he's so handsome, especially with a fresh haircut. I love anything golden retriever and have a male that could be Auggie's stand-in! Great teaching style. Very easy to follow. The closeups are great to see those details. Not that I want to take away a good groomer's job, but you make it look like a very satisfying profession. Maybe in my next life!! The tips and tricks are appreciated. I learned a lot about brushing and caring for their coats that I never knew about. I thank you and my buddy Bogey thanks you!
I’ve already done two goldens. They came out amazing !! I am so grateful. I am a realtor but a dog trainer too. I board my clients and friends goldens. I have 3 and 4 at a time and always groom prior to taking home. Can I use a harder spray on a regular attachment ? I cannot afford that system.
Just the video i was looking for 😅 a golden at my job, doggie daycare, need to be groomed for the summer but every place is booked or close for the summer so the owner asked me if i could do it and I don't want to mess up due to the double coat so this video will help for sure 😊
What a fantastic grooming video on a beautiful Retriever. This was the best step by step advice. Thank you, and your work is superb! Wish you were our groomer for our boy!
Thanks so very much for supplying me with so much information for grooming my Golden, Tucker. I usually send him to the groomers twice a year but try to maintain him myself at home as much as possible. You have been extremely helpful!!
This was a fantastic video, 35 years of goldens and I do most of these thins. It took me a while to figure it all out and she covers it in one video. Its a crime to shave a Golden. It drives me crazy to here owners say it good for them. Things I do a bit different is use a Oster Undercoat Rake its does wonders for the coat without damage. I also use Ice on Ice for detangler it make the coat shine and feel like silk. Go Groomer has it nailed, great video!!!!
I really want to try those towels! My dogs LOVE being toweled off! Even if I’m folding a towel from the laundry they get excited and ask to be rubbed down! 🤗
I've watched several different grooming videos. You are the only one that cares enough to brush them before bathing. And give positive verbal support while working on them. I really enjoy your channel. I got my Maltese almost 3 years ago (during covid) . I had no idea that he would be high maintenance. I learned so much from you. I'm still the only one grooming him and learning everytime. I can't thank you enough sharing your work. Of course watching you work doesn't real seem like work for you. More like a labor of love since you love all the animals so much. You are absolutely my groomer, the best. I wish i lived closer so i could take my dog to you. ❤
I'm considering adopting a Golden. This video was EXCELLENT in regards to a thorough clean/trim. *If you brush your Golden every day or at least every other day, how often would you perform this more thorough groom care? *What brush do you recommend for every day on a Golden? THANK YOU!
Oddly, going out to pick up proper grooming scissors today. Our Golden just turned 16 months. It seemed to take forever for her undercoat to grow back following a vet shave for her spay 10 months ago. I would be really concerned over anyone simply shaving our Golden with shears! Recently, it has become more difficult to brush knots out from around her ears and she is very "fluffy" around the toes. I'm guessing once (maybe twice) a year for a trim will keep that all tidy. She otherwise has a beautiful coat and regular brushing helps keep shedding in the house minimal. We are lucky to have a large, walk-in shower, so a bath is pretty easy to do and she is used to getting nails and ear cleaning done regularly. Our Golden reminds me of our full size Border Collie excepting she seems to shed more. A good pin brush and comb seems to work well for me. Awesome video with great info. Thank you! Now, if Bailey will stay still and quiet for just long enough......
Loved this video. My golden has had 2 TPLO surgeries and has trouble, while still healing, to stand a long period. So........ I wanted to get some tool and groom her myself. I can bathe her then later groom ears and feet. Then maybe next bath the rest. As long as I take it in pieces she will do well. Thank you for the video! I hope I do good. You make it look easy! I'm sure it's not! 🤣😊
Extremely well done video, very educational. I’ve been watching many grooming videos and that’s, by far, the best! I have a black lab/golden retriever mix with exactly this coat (just black) and that’s very helpful. I wish I could take my pooch to you. Oggie is a true sweetheart, though. Mine HATES being groomed… thanks for this video
Thanks for all the information, I just inherited my daughter’s beautiful golden while their family is deployed overseas and I want to take good care of him. I took him to a groomer that unfortunately cut off his fluffy main. It will grow back, won’t it? I hope so. I’ll be grooming him from now on thanks to your helpful video and product suggestions.
You are awesome, gentle and careing to the dogs.....I wish you loved in South Wales UK...... I wouldn't hesitate to bring my Boy Sonny to you..... He is also a golden retriever, almost 10 months old now. So difficult to find a careing Groomer. ...... Awesome stuff.... Lv you much. Tanya n Sonny. Xx
Auggie is such a good boy! Thanks for this very informative and detailed video and the links to all the products you used. I'm going to give it a try with our Golden since I can't seem to find a groomer that trims his fur correctly. Last time he was practically shaved! It was so sad! I agree it will be a great bonding experience, and I think it would be fun to learn something new. Take care!
I'm preparing to get a Golden as a service dog and am really glad that this is the first grooming-focused video that I found. While I will take him or her to a groomer when I can, I need to be able to know what I can do at home. Do you have a video on how to keep a Golden's coat healthy, minus the "I pay $200 a week for dog food" nonsense? You also gained a new subscriber, and I'm sending belly rubs to the goodest floofster! What a well-behaved boy 🐾
Maybe you already figured it out, but the reason your audio sounded funky sometimes it was because your shirt was not strong enough to hold the mic down 😅 But you can just periodically check your mic while you’re recording and make sure it’s laying flat. Anyway…we appreciate your videos so much!! I don’t think most viewers mind so much because you are so knowledgeable and Oggy was the bestest boy!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you SO much for making this video. My groomer does a great job bathing him, but they don’t do these “small” trimming steps so I’m educating myself to try this this weekend
I have a 2 year old golden retriever. It is so difficult to find a groomer that knows how to properly care for goldens fur. They all want to shave etc. I’m like no. All he needs is a bath, his undercoat treated, and trim of the edges like ears, the flagging on the legs and his grinch feet trimmed. No clippers. Why aren’t most groomers aware of how to deal with double coated dogs? Where are you located? I’d love to be able to take my dog to you!! You’re a gem! How often would you recommend a grooming like this for a golden?
The reason some groomers want to shave a double coat is because they are not certified and trained. They simply do not know better:( a golden should be groomed every 4 weeks for optimal skin and coat health 💕
This was just amazing to watch! I learned so much and feel more confident with grooming our sweet Golden. Hats off to you and all those who are equally as talented. Super fun and relaxing to watch, also.
Thank you for this video! I've been looking for a groomer for my Goldens for years and everyone wants to SHAVE them. It's awful. You have done a terrific job, thank you so very much!
I love how informative you are. I have a golden and learned a lot from this video. It’s hard to find a good groomer that can handle my babies who extra large dogs.
Now I know how to trim the curly hair around my Yorkie’s neck. He has a cotton/ silkie blend of hair with some curl that I have trouble getting to look right. Another lesson learned.
That dog is so gorgeous. I have had Goldies now for over 50 years. Best breed ever, EVER! We have spent literally thousands and thousands of dollars on groomers - some were really bad like the one that scalped my Goldie! We have never had that good of results, so I am gonna make a run at it. So a question. None of my girls have ever had that beautiful fluffy tail. Baby girl #8 is coming to us next month as a baby and we want to do it right. How do you get the tail to be fluffy like that? My girls have always had very curly coats, which I love.
Thank you so much for this informative video. I have 3 Goldens and spend a fortune at the groomer, and I hate they are there ALL DAY. I purchased a number of these items to get me started with their grooming at home - I just need to figure out a good bathing area and drying platform. Excellent content and recommendations... thanks again!
Do you have a shower in your home? Mine is a walk-in and Bailey will walk in by herself if I place a treat inside. I just put on a swimsuit and get in there with her and I’m able to give her a great shampoo, not worrying about all the water getting everywhere. If I could only get her to do her shaking off in the shower, but no, she shakes off only after she gets out. At least it’s only water drops that I have to wipe down, and I lay a couple of large towels on the bathroom floor to keep it mostly dry. I also have and would recommend a hair dryer for dogs as I understand letting their skin remain damp while they dry out can lead to skin problems.
You are the best ever! From your explanations to how lovingly you handle and communicate with Auggie! I just cannot find the link to all the products you use. Help?

Of course he is well cared for. But his coat is the ideal scenario for a Golden.

Glass Goddess that is great Amy:) I know your dogs have a lot of coat too:)
Wow. I just can't get over how beautiful these animals are.
You are just amazing 👏 and beautiful. The pupper is loving you . Thanks for sharing
So glad to see you demo a proper deshed...watched another youtuber this morning that total gave wrong info on it...you are so helpful to people that are learning.....thks, Amy....
Thank you Sue! I only want to share safe and effective grooming methods on my youtube channel:)
@@GoGroomer Alot of groomers these days want to take the quickest way out only to find out they have to do more work in the end or shave them off....and not good for the dogs skin....by the way are your table loops in your link...
Never mind on the loop ,....found it...
@@1gabbygoo Betcha watched Mary Beth..seriously.. this is the best grooming channel!
@@b.c.m4143 yep, broke my heart what she put that dog through....NEVER bathe a matted dog...thought all real groomers knew that..Amy is one groomer that hasn't let her You Tube fam go to her head...she is truly sincere and wants to help people and their dogs...
This video is amazing and has helped me tremendously with my golden! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Oggy's coat looks amazing! He's such a handsome boy! He's going to have all the lady's drooling and woofing ......
Golden retrievers with a good diet always have beautiful fur, skin and hair. I wish I could have this nice lady groom my golden:
You are so kind
What a beautiful job you did with this Golden retriever! I would love to see grooming a curly Goldendoodle, we have a 12 months Goldendoodle and I love love your videos, I'm so encouraged to groom her myself. Thank you for sharing!
Tina Powers my pleasure 😊
@Tina Powers, Amy owns a gorgeous, curly Golden Doodle named "Gus". She has a couple videos on her channel of her grooming him.😊
@@rkgrant16 I'm checking them out, thank you Raquel!
This system looks amazing! Water pressure looks like it makes it so much more thorough!
This video is so soothing to watch and he is such a handsome and good boy.
Thank you...he sure it:)
Just the video i was looking for 😅 a golden at my job, doggie daycare, need to be groomed for the summer but every place is booked or close for the summer so the owner asked me if i could do it and I don't want to mess up due to the double coat so this video will help for sure 😊
Awesome 🙌
What a fantastic grooming video on a beautiful Retriever. This was the best step by step advice. Thank you, and your work is superb! Wish you were our groomer for our boy!
Thanks so very much for supplying me with so much information for grooming my Golden, Tucker. I usually send him to the groomers twice a year but try to maintain him myself at home as much as possible. You have been extremely helpful!!
Wonderful! I’m glad to help!!😄
Thank you for sharing your expertise, even years later you are helping people 🤍🙏🏼🤍
I appreciate that!
I love all your videos! We can see that you really love what you do!❤️👏🏻💐☺️
This was a fantastic video, 35 years of goldens and I do most of these thins.
THANK YOU!
Full groom as demonstrated every 4-6 weeks would be ideal. I like the Kenchii large slicker brush for a Golden❤️
@@GoGroomer Thank you for taking the time to answer - much appreciated! I wish I lived closer to your shop :)
Thank you for this wonderful video of the exquisite work yo do. I love your dedication!
I appreciate that🤗
Loved this video. 🤣😊
This is my first year with my golden retriever Balto! Thank you for teaching me how to do it at home
She is the best groomer I have ever seen! Where are you located???
Pennsylvania
Thank you! Very in depth explanations to get the desired outcomes. Oggi looked fantastic!
It will grow back, but it depends on how short it was clipped whether there will be permanent color changes.
You're very thorough! I wish all dog groomers had your work dedication!😊
Great video. Now to try and get my Teddy who looks like a Yeti cleaned up. I do like a bit of length on their legs and I love their curls.
Xx
Awesome info as I have 2 Golden Retrievers! I also have 2 Yorkies! The best of both worlds!
Thank you for the video. I have a golden retriever coming in tomorrow first one I’ll let you know how it comes out.
💖
Wow I need to find a groomer like you in my area! Fantastic video 😮
Thanks so much!
Take care!
jillgro hugs!💕
I'm preparing to get a Golden as a service dog and am really glad that this is the first grooming-focused video that I found. While I will take him or her to a groomer when I can, I need to be able to know what I can do at home. Do you have a video on how to keep a Golden's coat healthy, minus the "I pay $200 a week for dog food" nonsense? You also gained a new subscriber, and I'm sending belly rubs to the goodest floofster! What a well-behaved boy 🐾
Bathing and brushing regularly is the key😍
Maybe you already figured it out, but the reason your audio sounded funky sometimes it was because your shirt was not strong enough to hold the mic down 😅
But you can just periodically check your mic while you’re recording and make sure it’s laying flat.
Anyway…we appreciate your videos so much!! I don’t think most viewers mind so much because you are so knowledgeable and Oggy was the bestest boy!!! ♥️♥️♥️
indeed
Thank you SO much for making this video. My groomer does a great job bathing him, but they don’t do these “small” trimming steps so I’m educating myself to try this this weekend
Very cool❤️
You are incredible and so loving with Auggie (who is such a good boy)!
This was just amazing to watch! I learned so much and feel more confident with grooming our sweet Golden. Hats off to you and all those who are equally as talented. Super fun and relaxing to watch, also.
💖
Thank you for this video! I've been looking for a groomer for my Goldens for years and everyone wants to SHAVE them. It's awful.
You have done a terrific job, thank you so very much!
I love how informative you are. I have a golden and learned a lot from this video. It’s hard to find a good groomer that can handle my babies who extra large dogs.
I am so happy this helps you and your pups!
Beautiful job and so enjoyed all the love you gave your client😁😁😁!!!!
Bathe, condition, and fluff dry the tail fur straight.
@@GoGroomer thank you. Gracie Will thank you!
Help?
Thanks😍 all products are linked in the description of the video you have to click the triangle to drop down the options for links.
Thank you so very much for the fantastic demonstration. I can’t wait to use what I learned from you.
